At Nishiki Market in Kyoto, the famous vegetable store on the 2nd floor offers a variety of Kyoto vegetables. Their Kyoto vegetable set meal is popular and delicious! Check them out on Instagram: kuidaore.8.

I finally had lunch at "Nikai of Yaoya", a restaurant on the second floor. I ordered the "Longevity Lunch" which features seasonal Kyoto vegetables. The deep-fried tsukune potato was crispy and delicious. The colorful vegetable stir-fry was visually appealing. The simmered bamboo shoots and Lily root rice were tasty with a light flavor. The dessert, uirou, was light and just the right size. It's a healthy lunch with a perfect amount for women.

If you want to buy matsutake mushrooms in Kyoto, this is the place to go! The staff may seem a bit aloof, but if you start a conversation, they will be happy to talk to you about various things. When I mentioned that I bought matsutake mushrooms here last year, they were delighted and told me all about matsutake mushrooms. Buying matsutake mushrooms here and then grilling and eating them at home with everyone is the ultimate luxury! The matsutake mushroom rice was also amazing. Every autumn, I remember this place. I can't wait for next autumn to come already, haha. It's the season when I miss matsutake mushrooms too much. If you ever go to Nishiki Market, be sure to check it out.

I wandered through the Nishiki shopping street in Kyoto, passing by tourists from overseas. I came here after seeing on TV that paintings by Jakuchu are displayed on the ceiling of the arcade. While taking photos and moving around, I stopped in front of this shop! There were huge matsutake mushrooms lined up behind the glass ☆☆☆ And they are domestically produced. Truly, this is Nishiki Market (*゚▽゚)ノ I wanted to see them up close, but felt a bit hesitant to enter. Just then, I found it! Matsutake rice for 1,000 yen. I went inside, admired the high-quality matsutake, and then purchased the matsutake rice (laughs). It was stated that the matsutake was from Iwate Prefecture. At this price, it's friendly to the wallet, right? The matsutake had a good aroma, great texture, and was quite delicious (^_^)ノ It was a very delicious and reasonably priced matsutake rice that makes you want to buy it again.

Shopping at Nishiki Market. Stopped by a vegetable shop for my child who was lacking in vegetables. This shop has been in business since the 15th year of the Meiji era and has received the Kyoto Governor's Award for being the oldest matsutake shop in Kyoto. Inside the store, seasonal vegetables are lined up. Walking around, I saw taro, seigoin daikon, seigoin turnip, gold carrot... even some things I had never seen before. On the second floor of the shop, it seems that you can also enjoy dishes made with plenty of Kyoto vegetables. This is also attractive. At the storefront, rice dishes made with seasonal "chestnuts" and "matsutake" were being sold, so I hesitated and ended up buying chestnut rice. The rice itself is a light serving for one person, with large grains of Tanba chestnuts scattered throughout. The texture when you chew is amazing, with a sweetness that spreads throughout the rice and is incredibly delicious!! They are skilled in cooking rice... a technique that is not easy to do at home. I regret not buying matsutake rice as well... If I have the chance, I would like to try the restaurant on the second floor.

In Nishiki Market, there is a vegetable shop that is famous for its food establishment called "Yaoya no Nikai". Among the popular food stores in the kitchen of Kyoto, it has an elegant and luxurious feel. They offer Kamo eggplants, which are only harvested in Kyoto. Even if it's the same variety, those harvested in Osaka are not called Kamo eggplants. While many people eat it in miso paste, I tried it with ginger soy sauce. It's thick and satisfying to eat. The visual appearance is also distinctive, making it a rewarding dish for cooking enthusiasts. You can also buy miso paste for cooking at our store.

Nishiki Market is one of the enjoyable things to do when visiting Kyoto. I noticed an unfamiliar tray at the shop of Mr. Kanematsu, who runs a two-story shop that I have used before. They were selling chilled tomatoes, which were small but temptingly bright red. I was a bit distracted by the prices of other high-end vegetables, so the 200 yen per tomato seemed cheap and I couldn't resist buying one. They sprinkled some salt on it and I ate it on the spot, and it was delicious. They said it was a type of Momotaro tomato, and it was a treat to have chilled tomatoes on a hot day.

Located on the second floor of Nishiki Market, this restaurant is a great find for travelers who want to eat delicious food but can't bring vegetables back with them. I had the elegant Longevity Lunch Set (2100 yen) made with Kyoto vegetables. This month's rice was myoga rice, but for an additional 300 yen, you can switch to matsutake mushroom rice. The "fried eggplant" and fried sweet potato were exquisite. The pickles were delicious, and you can have seconds of rice. When you ask for seconds, they bring white rice and sprinkle it with shredded mountain pepper. This lunch made me realize how delicious vegetables can be.

Recently, Nishiki Market is crowded and tiring to walk through. While eating at Daimaru is nice, I'm thinking of trying a different place. Regular restaurants tend to serve greasy food, so I recommend this place where you can enjoy delicious vegetables. It's not a high-end restaurant, but it's not like a typical set meal place either. The atmosphere inside is quite spacious, so you can eat slowly. There may be times when you have to wait to get in, but when I went, I got in right away. If you're hungry at Nishiki Market, I think it's worth a try.
