京夏終空
A butcher shop established in 1946 that offers freshly fried assorted dishes in front of the Uzumasa Higashiguchi bus stop. Located near Sanjo Street, they run a restaurant called "Yakiniku Sano". I visited during the evening on a weekday, drawn in by the enticing smell. This was my 10th visit, with the first one being a long time ago. I purchased "Croquette" (60 yen/each) and "Minced Cutlet" (100 yen/each) this time.
1. The most important thing to convey about this shop:
You can buy freshly fried assorted dishes here.
2. My taste impressions:
The "Croquette" is, of course, homemade. It is slightly smaller in size and made with beef. The mashed potatoes seem well mixed. Although the meat is not prominently visible in the cross-section, its flavor is present. Overall, it falls into the category of traditional delicious croquettes. The "Minced Cutlet" also has a strong beef flavor. It is slightly rare in doneness, with a juicy texture. The appearance of the oily cross-section matches the slightly oily feeling. However, it is not overwhelmingly greasy, giving a sense of high quality. The breading for both items is a blend of coarse and fine textures, fried to a beautiful golden brown.
3. My impressions of the customer service:
The service is typical of a regular butcher shop. They fry your order after you place it (takes around 5-6 minutes). I received the freshly fried items in a paper bag for eating on the go, along with sauce.
4. Atmosphere of the shop:
Although it is a very ordinary butcher shop, you can feel its history from the sign. The exterior exudes an atmosphere of a long-established butcher shop.
5. Cost-performance evaluation:
The croquette is reasonably priced, while the minced cutlet seems cheap.
6. Other thoughts:
They have a wide variety of assorted dishes, including croquettes, minced cutlets, fried chicken, tonkatsu, beef cutlets, chicken cutlets, ham cutlets, skewered cutlets, and wiener cutlets. They also offer hamburgers, dumplings, spring rolls, and occasionally advertise items like "Hokkaido Direct Delivery Salted Salmon". Personal preferences may vary when it comes to assorted dishes, so it's hard to make a general statement. Personally, I used to frequent "Ueda" on Odei Street more often due to its proximity to my home. The location of this shop in front of the bus stop is quite unique. In the past, I used to frown upon high school students buying snacks here, but now I find it heartwarming. Times have changed. By the way, I feel like the location of this bus stop or the one before it has shifted compared to the past...
