This is a famous coffee stand in Sangenjaya. I ordered a large iced coffee. On Sundays, the street in front of the shop becomes a pedestrian paradise, so I sit on the bench outside. It's nice to be able to eat a croissant from a nearby bakery along with the coffee outside on the bench. It's a great place to take a break while walking around the city.

The shop, known as the Laboratory, opened in December 2011 and is part of a series that includes Mart (Wakabayashi), Home (Sangenjaya), and Front (Tokyu Food Show). It is about a 3-4 minute walk from the north exit of Sangenjaya Station along Chazawa Street. The exterior is a black-framed glass structure, located across from Truffe Bakery. I visited in the afternoon and found a modern interior where they sell coffee beans and offer take-out coffee. Currently, you cannot drink coffee inside the shop, but the benches outside are available for use. The menu includes the following items (prices include tax): - Coffee of the day (M340 yen, L390 yen) - Drip coffee (M490 yen, L540 yen) - Iced coffee (M440 yen, L490 yen) - Latte (M480 yen, L530 yen) - Espresso (M450 yen) - Chocolat (M590 yen) I tried the Coffee of the day (340 yen) made with Nicaraguan beans. It had a nice acidity and a moderate bitterness with a clean aftertaste. It was delicious, but I would have preferred to enjoy it inside the shop. Hopefully, the day will come when we can once again savor our coffee inside.

I stopped by Sanmachi for tea and ended up buying a lemon cake after making eye contact with it. The sweet and sour cake tasted even better when paired with milk coffee. If I have the chance to visit Sanmachi again, I would love to go back. Thank you for the meal.

The shop has a bright and clean atmosphere and is quite popular. Primarily a place for coffee takeout and purchasing coffee beans, the shop used to have a small seating area inside for customers to enjoy their coffee. However, due to the pandemic, the indoor seating area has been removed. Customers are now advised to drink their coffee on the bench outside the shop. The bench faces a busy street, so it's not a very relaxing atmosphere. It would be better if they had at least a simple standing counter inside for customers to enjoy their coffee. As of August 2022, the prices are as follows: Espresso 310 yen, Drip Coffee 430 yen, Cafe Latte 430 yen, Cappuccino 430 yen, etc. The prices have slightly increased compared to before, but the increase is minimal compared to other shops. I ordered an Iced Cafe Latte for 430 yen and chose the deep roasted (Kenya) coffee beans. The coffee, being a specialty of the shop, was undeniably delicious with an excellent compatibility with milk. I would give a higher rating if they had a counter inside, even if it was for standing customers...
