I visited this restaurant that I had been wanting to visit without making a reservation, just a little before the opening time. I sat at a table and ordered the lunch menu "Fisherman's Meal" (1,500 yen). Chopsticks and spoons were placed in the table's drawer as decoration. The first dish brought to me was "Chawanmushi" with green abalone, which was smooth with plenty of dashi, a hint of pepper, and chewy green abalone inside. Next, I was served "Deep-fried Alfonsino", crispy on the outside and tender on the inside with a sweet taste. Then, the main dish "Fisherman's Meal" arrived with two types of tuna, squid, horse mackerel, shrimp, pickled radish, cucumber, shrimp, salmon roe, flying fish roe, ark shell, and sea bream, all very rich in ingredients. I mixed raw egg yolk with soy sauce and poured it over the dish. The variety of seafood used provided different delicious flavors, and the finely chopped cucumber and crunchy pickles added a pleasant texture. The meal ended with sea bream cha-zuke, where sea bream was placed on top of rice in tea with sesame sauce and wasabi, enhancing the sweetness of the sea bream and the richness of the sesame sauce. It was a very satisfying and reasonably priced lunch, with a high level of satisfaction. Many other customers seemed to have made reservations, as there were several reservation calls during my visit, and by the time I left, the reserved seats were filled. I recommend making a phone reservation if you want to ensure you can enjoy the meal.

- Fisherman's meal ¥1500 lunch menu includes everything for this price. There is only 8 counter seats. If you go around 1 pm on Saturday, you can enter without waiting in line. - Scallop chawanmushi (1st picture) Delicious! It's a shame that the pepper was too strong. - Fried fish (1st picture) Recommended to soak it in plenty of sweet sauce! - Sea bream (2nd picture) The mayonnaise mixed with something like peanuts is exquisite. The recommended way by the staff is to eat one piece as is, and the remaining two pieces in sea bream tea. - Seafood scattered rice bowl (3rd picture) Delicious!! The texture of the salmon roe is amazing. The shiso leaves are great!! - Sea bream tea-soaked rice (4th picture) They give you the bowl of seafood rice bowl and pour in the broth. You can leave some rice, or ask for more to be added.

It's amazing. I love seafood, and this seafood bowl was the best I've ever had. The "Gyoshimeshi" seafood bowl is packed with countless ingredients finely chopped and piled high. Recently it went viral on Instagram. The combination of ikura with its thick texture and pickled daikon radish gives a strong impact, enhancing the main seafood ingredients which are incredibly sweet and make you feel truly happy. The mix of flavors, textures, and colors in the bowl is a delight to the senses. The chawanmushi served at the beginning also includes seasonal ingredients, showcasing daily specials and offering a different experience each time. The standout is the soy sauce. It's a special blend that is recommended to mix with the egg yolk before pouring it over the bowl, and it's truly delicious! I've often found that soy sauce can ruin the taste of a seafood bowl, but this one was exceptional. It enhanced the seafood bowl gently and left a lasting impression. For 1500 yen, you get chawanmushi, fried conger eel, and the Gyoshimeshi, among other dishes. The location, interior, and elegant tableware make it a favorite spot where you can fully enjoy the experience. Please continue to operate for a long time. I really love it! Thank you for the wonderful meal ♡

I visited twice for lunch. I think the taste, atmosphere, and cost performance are perfect. The lunch menu is a great deal, and the customer service is very pleasant. They provided detailed explanations of the dishes with a smile. From the beginning to the end, my stomach and heart were satisfied when leaving the restaurant.

When you enter the narrow alley of the machiya, you will find the shop at the very end. Don Tsuki is a calming place with a counter. The must-try dish is the fisherman's bowl. It's a course meal that includes chawanmushi, fried food, a bowl, and a finishing tai chazuke, all for 1500 yen, which is surprisingly cost-effective! The customers are mainly regulars and groups of middle-aged men. Truly impressive! Reservations are essential. I'll definitely go back at night next time!

Known by any businessman in Kyoto, Zako and his group. A popular spot in the Karasuma area, known for its seafood-centered menu with great value. The founder of Zako and his group has a reservation-only course for 8000 yen at night, but for lunch, they offer reasonably priced options. In a residential area, look for the standing sign as a landmark and head towards the back. As you go deeper, you will see the entrance on your left. The restaurant has a very Kyoto-like atmosphere with an L-shaped live counter where you can enjoy your meal while watching the chef prepare it. The founder, though casual, has a clean appearance. When asked if he came up with the Zako and his group's signature lunch dish "Fisherman's Meal," he said, "Yes." This raised expectations ✨ You will be charged 1500 yen for the "Fisherman's Meal," which includes not only a seafood bowl but also a surprising variety of daily specials! It's too luxurious‼️ When you look for chopsticks, you will find neatly arranged cutlery in a drawer under the counter. It's so stylish... 【Scallop Chawanmushi】When you scoop it up, it dances on the spoon. The dashi broth is exquisite!✨ Such an elegant and well-balanced dish... This chawanmushi, which maintains a solid texture, is practically a soup with a flavorful broth! The slightly spicy black pepper adds a subtle touch, creating an adult flavor. You will be impressed from the first bite. 【Golden Chicken Karaage】The thin crispy coating on the outside and juicy meat inside. The meat, torn apart with chopsticks, is so tender! It's so delicious that you'll want more!✨ The saltiness is just right, making you crave rice at this point! 【Fisherman's Meal】Seafood Bowl Enjoy it as recommended. Beat the egg yolk with soy sauce and pour it over the seafood bowl! Even when you try to scoop it up, you wonder, "Where does the filling end?" because there is so much seafood piled on top. It takes a while for the rice to appear. Finally, you can enjoy it!✨ The popping texture of flying fish roe❗️ The popping texture of salmon roe❗️ The crunchy texture of pickled radish❗️ The seafood is plentiful with tuna, squid, horse mackerel, shrimp, sea bream...and many more! Various textures reach your taste buds, making it truly delicious. 【Sea Bream Chazuke】You can have a rice refill according to your preference, and it comes with a sprinkling of colorful rice crackers. The sashimi of sea bream on a small plate is placed on top. Oh, the scent of the broth... "Please add the sesame sauce and enjoy," I was told, but which one is the sesame sauce? It turned out to be the white tofu-like substance with the sea bream. When you eat it with a large wooden spoon, the sea bream is delicious, but the sesame sauce has a creamy flavor like sesame tofu and is very tasty! It's like eating Japanese-style French cuisine✨ It's a fantastic Japanese meal from start to finish✨I felt as satisfied as if I had eaten a 5000 yen kaiseki lunch! It's the best Japanese cuisine! I felt fulfilled on the day I ate and the next day, and I had a great time. Ahhh, I didn't want to post this✨ Counter seating for 8 people. 11:30-14:30 (L.O. 14:00)

A young chef named Itchan challenges himself in the kitchen with a menu called "Challenge Kitchen." The menu changes monthly, with half being chef's choice and half with 2-3 options to choose from. My friend and I went, and we were able to try almost all the dishes. The quality of the food was much higher than a typical izakaya. From 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, you can enjoy all-you-can-drink and get full. It's definitely a great deal at 8,000 yen including tax for a long night out without needing a second party. With only 8 counter seats, everyone starts at the same time, so we had a fun time chatting and enjoying the food together. The chef, with his overflowing creativity, is controlled just right by the older chef, creating very interesting dishes. All the cooking is done right in front of you, so it's fun to watch. There's no doubt that this place will continue to grow every month, so I definitely want to visit regularly. Thank you for the meal.

In Matsubara-dori Goyukimachi Momiji no Koji, at the seafood restaurant Dontsuki, you can enjoy a lunch special of seafood bowl for 1,500 yen. The sashimi keeps piling up as you wait for the egg soy sauce to be prepared. The portion is generous with chawanmushi, a side dish, and even tai chazuke for flavor change. For 1,500 yen, it was incredibly reasonable!

Located at the back of the alley lined with restaurants called "Momiji no Koji", a restaurant named "Dontsuki" underwent a renewal on November 23rd last year. Managed by Mr. Nakanishi, the founder of the popular seafood izakaya group "Zako-ya" in the Karasuma area. At night (by reservation only), there are two simple options: - The 10000 yen course starts with 4 chef's choice dishes, followed by all-you-can-eat menu selections and all-you-can-drink. - The 8000 yen course includes all chef's choice dishes with drinks available separately. For lunch, you can enjoy the famous "Fisherman's Rice" (1500 yen), which comes with two daily side dishes (yuzu miso daikon, crab meat chawanmushi). The Fisherman's Rice, topped with plenty of seafood and soy sauce eggs, is like a luxurious version of egg rice. To finish, pour dashi over the sea bream slices and add sesame sauce mousse for a delicious sea bream ochazuke. Until the end of January, everyone is welcome, but from February onwards, it seems that first-time visitors will be turned away, so now is the chance to visit!

Located a 4-minute walk from Kawaramachi Matsubara on the Kyoto City Bus, this restaurant is nestled in the midst of a street lined with various dining establishments known as "Momiji no Komichi". Nearby, you can find Matsubara Fudo. The restaurant does not have a parking lot. It offers a unique order-style buffet of Japanese cuisine. The restaurant itself has an elegant atmosphere, renovated from a traditional Kyoto townhouse. Run by a friendly young couple in their 20s, the seating consists of counter seats only (private rooms on the second floor are available for reservations only). The menu includes a 6600 yen tax-inclusive course with drinks sold separately (featuring rare alcoholic beverages). The system involves being served with 4 chef-selected dishes first, followed by the option to order from a menu of 19 items (as shown in the second photo menu). However, there are rules - you can only order each dish twice per person, and some items can only be ordered once. On this particular day, the initial 4 dishes, including Niku-sui, Wagyu steak, and Crab cream croquette burger, could only be ordered once each. Despite this limitation, all dishes were exceptional in taste, with a focus on quality and origin. The cooking techniques were delicate and meticulous, emphasizing the importance of dashi broth, typical of Kyoto cuisine. While the portion size for each dish may be small, by the time you complete one round of the menu, you will find yourself pleasantly full. Considering the variety of dishes available at this price point, it offers great value for money. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.

Salt-seared shrimp and salt-grilled sablefish, deep-fried abalone with fresh ground pepper. Fried yam and abalone. Sukiyaki of wagyu beef shoulder and sea urchin with salmon tartare, served with grilled eggplant. Chawanmushi with mullet roe. Can be enjoyed without any additional ingredients. Oil-marinated whelk. Mozuku seaweed vinegar and smoked herring. Wagyu steak, which was not good. The meat was rubbery. Sesame tofu with enoki mushroom sauce. Meat dish with plenty of sansho pepper. Deep-fried anglerfish with ankimo sauce. Mixed the remaining sauce with a small amount of rice. It was a bit fishy. Oyster spring rolls. Simmered octopus. Crab cream croquette burger. Grilled bonito with Kyoto miso. Grilled squid ink rice ball tea pickles. Clam soup. Soba noodles. Dessert trio. I thought I wouldn't be able to finish with the order buffet, but each dish was small enough to finish. They have a good selection of alcohol. Overall, the flavors were average, with nothing particularly delicious. The clientele was higher-end than expected. The system is interesting, so I hope for improvements in quality.

Order buffet for 6,600 yen. You can eat over 20 different dishes for the same price, and everything is delicious. The first picture shows a mysterious meat and seaweed roll. I forgot to ask what kind of meat it was, but it was incredibly tasty. The atmosphere of the restaurant and the service from the staff were both excellent, making it a pleasant experience from start to finish. I definitely want to go back again.

I visited Dontsuki, which opened on October 11th! The system is to first recommend 4 dishes, then move on to all-you-can-eat, making it a very attractive restaurant. It's only 6600 yen, and although we couldn't make it to the dessert due to our time constraints, every dish was delicious. If you go, I think it's best to go on a day when you have plenty of time, as it becomes a very cost-effective restaurant. #dontsuki #Japanese cuisine #creative cuisine #small dishes #game meat #all-you-can-eat #Kyoto cuisine #Kyoto gourmet #Kyoto dinner #Kyoto new restaurant #Kawaramachi #Kawaramachi gourmet #Kawaramachi dinner #Tabelog #Tabelog high rating #Great cost performance #Want to connect with people who love eating #Want to connect with gourmet lovers #Gourmet Instagram
