Grilled squid legs with soy sauce - 400 yen They grill it on the spot, brush it with soy sauce. The squid is soft and very delicious. The soy sauce flavor is strong, so it would probably go well with alcohol... It's a bit expensive, and they grill it in a place facing the street, so there is some concern about infection prevention, but I enjoyed it.

While strolling through Nishiki Market, I discovered my favorite grilled tsubugai (whelk). It's a type of whelk that can also be eaten as sashimi. They grilled it for me with a burner, and I enjoyed it hot in the eat-in area of the shop. It cost 500 yen including tax. It was delicious! The crunchy texture was amazing. It must be a great snack for those who can drink alcohol. I can't drink, so I wouldn't know. Thank you for the meal.

On July 28th, while shopping at Nishiki Market with two close friends, we bought this "Grilled Octopus Skewer with Soy Sauce" for 450 yen. The octopus skewers looked delicious lined up in front of us. They were grilled with soy sauce. I tried it and the savory soy sauce flavor paired well with the chewy octopus. The octopus wasn't too tough, which was great. It was delicious! The staff's service was average. Thank you for the meal!

This is a shop I stopped by before having takoyaki. The shop is called Kuwato, but I had trouble finding it. On this day, only good drivers who switched licenses could take a course near Kyoto Station. It ended at 9:30 in the morning, but there were few open shops... I contacted my friend and we met at 10 o'clock behind Daimaru. There are many open shops in Nishiki Market, so we decided to go there. It's nice in the morning when there are few people, as it gets crowded during the day. Kuwato opens at 10 o'clock and you can enjoy fried and grilled food with draft beer for eating in. I ordered the Ebi Onion and Shitashi-yaki (short legs) with a draft beer. Shitashi-yaki is probably the legs of small squid or cuttlefish. It is usually sprinkled with shichimi spice. The Ebi Onion has a good texture and a delicious combination of shrimp flavor and onion sweetness. The beer is a Super Dry draft beer. It's a place where you can enjoy a little drink in the morning. Today, I went on a food tour at Nishiki Market. I had some business in Kyoto, so I took a little detour to stroll around Nishiki Market. I stopped at a fishmonger called "Koutou" right in the middle of Nishiki Market Street. It used to be a fish store, but now it looks completely different. It has become a tempura and grilled skewers shop. There is also an eat-in corner at the back of the shop, where you can enjoy standing and eating. I ordered a scallop skewer for 500 yen, a bit indulgent, and also an oyster fry for 500 yen. The crispy and sweet teriyaki flavor goes really well with beer. It feels nice to be a tourist for a while, watching people shopping on the street.

I couldn't resist stopping by this shop at Nishiki Market. I ordered beer, oysters fried in breadcrumbs, and deep-fried tofu skin. It was a casual and reasonably priced place.

I got off the bus on the way to JR Kyoto Station from Kamigyocho to buy souvenirs at Nishiki Market. Despite hearing that there were fewer tourists due to COVID-19, I was surprised by how short the distance was from one end of Nishiki Market to the other. Before arriving at Nishiki Market, I passed by a shop selling matcha tiramisu, which usually has a long wait, but this time there were only a few people waiting. On my way back, I stopped at Uoriki for a drink and saw that they had switched from Kirin Asahi canned beer to Asahi Super Dry on tap. Then, on my way back again, I found this Asahi beer dispenser and ordered a glass of beer with some fried oysters. The fried oysters were a bit small for the price of 500 yen for three on a skewer. They tasted good, but I wish they had put the tartar sauce on top instead of underneath. Overall, it was a nice meal.

Sagurabushi is a shop located in Nishiki Market in Kyoto. They offer skewered tempura and beer, and you can either take it to go or eat in. There are various types of skewered tempura available, and I tried the Negitako (350 yen). They cook it again after you order it, so it's served piping hot. They also sprinkle some pepper or seasoning on it. The flavor of the leeks was good, and the texture of the octopus was nice as well. It was quite delicious. I also ordered a limited edition Coca-Cola bottle commemorating the 150th anniversary of the Meiji Restoration in Kyoto. It cost 200 yen per bottle. It's not an original cola from the shop, but it's available at various stores in Nishiki Market. Prices range from 150 yen to 200 yen. It's just a regular cola, but it's very cold and refreshing, especially in the summer. They also serve beer in the shop, but if you don't drink alcohol, this cola is a good choice. It goes well with the skewered tempura.

It's a seafood restaurant. I ordered Scallop with Butter Soy Sauce Grill for 500 yen, Grilled Shrimp with Mayo Soy Sauce for 500 yen, and Crab for 400 yen. They cooked it in front of me using a burner. Watching them cook it in front of me was enjoyable. The Grilled Shrimp with Mayo has a delicious aroma because they grill it after adding mayonnaise. The scallops and crab were large and satisfying to eat. They also offered to pack it for takeout, so I could enjoy it at home.
