This is an afternoon tea set available at Heian Jingu Kaikan. I had been curious about it since I lived in Kyoto, but the opportunity was limited and I finally visited. It seems like I have more opportunities to eat out with friends in Kyoto now than when I lived there. It's a luxurious afternoon tea set that you can enjoy while overlooking the beautiful garden of Heian Jingu. The set includes chilled tea soba, chilled corn soup, crispy summer tomato choux, one-bite charcuterie, Kyoto leek pizza toast, anmitsu using Ujibashi Harumatsu Honke's matcha, ramune jelly with anko mousse, verrine in the shape of a goldfish bowl, bapamanga pudding in a sunflower design, summer festival macaron with apricot, sencha chiffon cake, matcha nama chocolate, seasonal fruit tart, tiramisu with Ujibashi Harumatsu Honke's matcha, and weekend citron. The table was quite spacious even for two people. The drinks are free-flowing, with a selection of Mighty Leaf teas and coffee. You can confirm the aroma of the tea leaves before enjoying the tea, which is a style similar to Salon de KANBAYASHI Ujibashi Harumatsu Honke (they are affiliated). Before the afternoon tea set is served, cold tea soba is served, which was great on a hot day. The afternoon tea set stand is shaped like a bridge, which is a unique style. You can feel the atmosphere of Kyoto in every detail, making it a great place for tourists to visit. All the sweets are delicious, with a variety of Japanese-style and summer sweets that are easy to eat. It's a luxury to enjoy a leisurely meal in a cool place while overlooking the beautiful garden. The staff at this affiliated restaurant are very friendly and helpful, which is much appreciated. I came here with my friends from Kyoto this time, but I would also like to bring friends from far away when they visit Kyoto.

You can enjoy afternoon tea at the Heian Shrine Hall located on the grounds of the Heian Shrine. The view is lovely and there is a solemn and sacred atmosphere. Unlike other places, there are no scones which usually make me feel bloated, and each item on the menu is delicious and light, allowing me to finish everything easily. I heard that the menu changes with the seasons, so I would love to visit again in a different season.

I had the opportunity to sample at a fair. The appetizer platter, called hassun, was honestly reminiscent of traditional New Year's dishes, with dishes like sesame tofu and herring roe that might not appeal to younger people. The shrimp was delicious, and the grilled sea bream scales were a specialty. I was impressed by the skill in grilling the scales, but the sea bream itself was just okay in terms of taste. The meat was a tender and flavorful red meat commonly found in French courses served at weddings. However, the main plate was not served hot, but rather lukewarm, and I felt that if this was the warmth served at a wedding, I wouldn't be completely satisfied. The staff were all professional and provided excellent service.

Today, there was a once-a-year event at the company, and we went to Kyoto. The dinner party with our major business partners was held at Heian Kaikan in Sanjo Higashiyama. This place has a calm and elegant atmosphere, often used for weddings. The view of the courtyard from the lobby is beautiful, especially when it's lit up at night. The rooms inside are spacious and cozy, used for events like weddings and engagement ceremonies. We welcomed important people from both inside and outside the company, and the dinner party began with cheers and toasts with beer. First, we had an appetizer of seasonal ingredients in a colorful assortment of six small dishes, such as rolled kelp, miso egg yolk, and vegetable paste. The second course was a seasonal flan and vegetable brulee, which was like a Western-style steamed egg custard. The fish dish was a steamed and baked seasonal fish with a crustacean sauce, presented like a mound of colorful flowers and vegetables. The vegetables were fresh and delicious, and underneath them was white fish with an orange sauce, which turned out to be a crustacean sauce. The fish, which was cod, was tender and perfectly cooked. The meat dish was marinated duck breast roast with honey soy orange sauce, served with a green mousse and shiitake mushroom. The duck meat had a liver-like taste, which was unexpected but interesting. The finale was a traditional seasoned rice and red miso soup, with what seemed to be sea bream. The dessert was a pastry chef's special dessert, a mousse with matcha powder and fruits. We finished with coffee. The service was excellent, even accommodating our own wine with a special menu plate. Overall, it was a great dinner party, although the duck meat was a bit disappointing. Thank you for the feast.

I enjoyed the course meal at a wedding reception. The taste of dashi was well-balanced in all dishes and very delicious. The main beef dish was tender with a fine marbling sweetness. The desserts, such as rum raisin ice cream in a wafer shell, and matcha tiramisu, were rich and intricately made, and very tasty.

Today's lunch was at "Heian Jingu Kaikan" where we had a course meal after attending a wedding at Heian Shrine. The food was not particularly elaborate, just ordinary dishes. However, we were able to enjoy everything, including the dessert, until the end.

I was invited to a banquet on a weekend afternoon. The seating had partitions in place, and it seemed like they were taking sufficient measures against COVID-19. I enjoyed a celebratory meal with seven dishes, including sesame tofu, red and white daikon and carrot salad, shrimp roll, sweet plum simmered in syrup, kelp with black beans and gold leaf, steamed black soybeans, pine needle-flavored bamboo gluten, grated nagaimo with egg yolk, red rice, assorted soup with tofu, tsuruna, and hedgehog, and a citrus appetizer with three types of celebratory fish - sea bream, tuna, and cold bonito. The main course was roasted black wagyu beef fillet with grated daikon radish. The meal ended with a dessert buffet. Overall, the food was good. Thank you for the feast.

This month, I stayed in Kyoto and enjoyed a elegant afternoon tea time at Heian Shrine Kaikan. I had been wanting to go there for a while, so as soon as my Kyoto trip was decided, I made a reservation. The afternoon tea, blending Japanese and Western elements, is enjoyed while overlooking the national designated scenic garden "Shinen" in Kyoto. The Tiramisu with a Torii gate design, macarons served in lacquerware bowls, and other items evoke the elegance of Kyoto! The "Autumn Afternoon Tea" starting from September includes chestnut zenzai, warm mitarashi dango, fragrant peach-colored tea macarons, autumn fruit pate de fruits, refreshing grape jelly, smooth pumpkin pudding, homemade zarameshi castella, chestnut yokan, purple sweet potato mont blanc tart, Tiramisu made with Ujibashi Harumatsu Honke hojicha, apple meat pie, Maruju chips, autumn-colored arigo and campagne, moistly baked cake sale, and light sweet potato potage. This afternoon tea is available until the end of November, featuring a menu spread with autumn flavors like chestnuts, sweet potatoes, grapes, and apples. I particularly enjoyed the chestnut zenzai and the chewy texture of the mitarashi dango! I have visited Heian Shrine many times, but I didn't know that from the adjacent Heian Shrine Kaikan, you could enjoy such a wonderful garden view. At Heian Shrine Kaikan, you can relax and enjoy the lovely garden view, so I would love to visit again during the autumn foliage season. I have also shared this on Instagram, so please take a look!

We were guided to a spacious room with a breathtaking view of a beautifully designated garden, which surprised us with its lovely atmosphere. Perhaps due to the season, we had the entire space to ourselves when we made a reservation for three people. Initially, a designated tea was served, followed by two hours of all-you-can-drink beverages. The tea leaves were presented in tall bottles resembling examiners, and were then placed in a box with various types of tea. First, matcha zenzai (sweet red bean soup) was served, followed by the main sweets and savory items for all three of us. The menu included matcha zenzai with sweet potato and rice chips, dashi pot-au-feu, shrimp duchesse with taro, kikuka soup with turnip, yuzu cream scones (caviar butter, truffle butter), white rabbit daifuku, pistachio macaron, cream-topped chocolate cupcake, matcha cream tart, choco-la, white chocolate and berry mousse, seasonal fruits (strawberries this time), special tiramisu with matcha from the Kamibayashi Harumatsu Honpo store, and amber sugar. Among these, the scones stood out for their crispy and crunchy texture, while the matcha zenzai had a gentle sweetness and soft white balls. The turnip potage was rich and creamy, with a hint of yuzu fragrance. The white chocolate and berry mousse had a delightful contrast in textures between the meringue and smooth mousse. The matcha cream tart was light and velvety, with a perfect balance of matcha bitterness and chocolate sweetness. We also enjoyed a variety of teas, such as melon and peach-scented green tea and hibiscus tea with a mix of blueberries and strawberries. This place is recommended for those who enjoy Japanese sweets, want to try unique and delicious savory items, and most importantly, for those who want to experience a luxurious time in a special space overlooking a garden that is not open to the public.

A lovely space with a view of the garden for a Japanese-style afternoon tea♡ The customer service at this place is great, making you want to stay longer.・Kyoto Afternoon Tea / 4000 yen per personThe location is outstanding, overlooking the beautiful garden of a nationally designated scenic spot. I was expecting strawberry sweets since it was after Christmas, but surprisingly, it was still Christmas-themed haha. However, among all the afternoon teas I've had, the portion size was just right (*´-`) The variety of tea was also delicious♡ The trick is to eat the sweet items first and leave the savory items for later ( ˘ω˘ )

It was a day with constantly changing weather - raining, sunny, cloudy. I enjoyed afternoon tea while admiring the garden that transformed with each change in weather. The theme was cherry blossoms, matcha, and strawberries, perfect for spring. The plates were cute and perfect for photos. I had matcha zenzai and tried different herbal teas. Even though it was still a bit cold, I felt the spring vibes. The staff were very kind, offering to take photos and asking if I wanted more drinks. Unfortunately, the cherry blossoms weren't blooming yet, but I imagine it would be even more beautiful with cherry blossoms, fresh greenery, autumn leaves, or snow. I'd love to visit in other seasons.

I'm sorry for the delay, but Happy New Year! I had afternoon tea in Kyoto. It was amazing! I had a great time. The view of the garden from the window was so soothing. You can choose from a variety of rare drinks. The service was excellent and really left an impression on me. Afternoon tea is not cheap, but it's worth the money.

This restaurant is popular for hosting wedding receptions and requires reservations far in advance. The menu is a mix of Japanese and Western cuisine. The taste of the food is not particularly outstanding, but the highlight is the beautiful garden view from the window, especially when it is illuminated at night. It's a great choice for its location, making it perfect for a party.

When staying at VMG Hotel, you can enjoy breakfast here. The meal consists of a variety of dishes in small portions, perfect for exploring the interior of Heian Shrine afterwards. Time passes leisurely, creating a nice atmosphere. The afternoon tea is also delightful.

I was invited to a wedding and attended the lively celebration. The Shinto wedding ceremony at the historic and cultural Heian Shrine was solemn and very sacred. Following that was the reception here. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, everyone was well-prepared and it felt safe. Menu: - Celebration Appetizers: Sesame Tofu, Red and White Daikon Radish, Carrot Kneaded with Salmon Roe, Rolled Tofu Skin, Sweet Plum with Sweetened Bonito, Plum Shellfish Simmered in Soy Sauce - Red Rice - Clear Soup with Seafood and Seasonal Kyoto Vegetables - Celebration Fish Assortment: Sea Bream, Tuna, Yuba (tofu skin), Gluten Cake, Scallop - Grilled Sweet Sea Bream with Seasonal Vegetables - Pan-Seared Black Wagyu Beef Fillet with Perigueux Sauce - Ochazuke (rice with tea poured over it) - Dessert Buffet. It was a joyous celebration filled with exquisite seasonal flavors of Kyoto. I may have had a bit too much red wine, white wine, and champagne (^0^;) Wishing the newlyweds a lifetime of happiness and prosperity, as well as blessings for both families and all the guests.
