The service was good, and the tongue was juicy and tasty. It exceeded my expectations and I left satisfied. I would like to visit this place again. The atmosphere is calming, so it wouldn't be bad to have a leisurely drink with friends. The menu is also extensive. I would like to come back here at night.

The soup warmed me up on the cold day. The beef tongue had a good chew to it. Overall, it was a decent meal. What stood out the most was that they served me during the awkward time of 3:30 in the afternoon, between lunch and dinner, in the crowded streets of autumn Kyoto. I ordered several dishes, and here are some of the delicious ones I tried: - Roast beef of beef tongue (1393 yen): A beautiful roast beef with a smooth texture and a crunchy texture of beef tongue. It has a strong flavor of lean meat and was very delicious. - Grilled fresh fish cake (390 yen each): They bring a small charcoal grill for you to grill the fish cake yourself. When grilled to a moderate char, it has a premium quality ground fish taste and a crispy texture. - Beef tongue croquette (690 yen): Instead of minced meat, the croquette is filled with diced beef tongue, giving it a satisfying texture. I thought about going to Gion's Hanami Koji for cherry blossom viewing, but it's crowded because of the long weekend. It was almost 2:30 pm and some places had already finished their lunch hours. So, I searched in the bustling downtown area. I found a beef tongue restaurant. Why do all beef tongue restaurants have almost the same set meals? The exterior looks like a building, but once you enter the restaurant, the interior is designed like a traditional townhouse. They really pay attention to detail. I thought it was a tatami room restaurant, but the room we were shown to was a Japanese-style room with tables, giving off a feel of the end of the Edo period. I ordered the normal beef tongue set meal. For the sauce, I chose the special salt miso sauce. The beef tongue was served on a round plate with beef tongue, pickled Chinese cabbage, and a very spicy green pepper. It came with grated yam on the side. The rice was proper, barley rice. The beef tongue was thick and not tough at all. It's been a while since I had a beef tongue set meal, and I still love it. I took a bite of the green pepper, but it was still spicy... After that, I quickly headed back to Osaka, finishing lunch in a hurry.

It was my first time trying whale yukhoe, which had a sweet and light taste different from horse meat, and I liked the fatty mackerel and chewy tsukune. Overall, I enjoyed the bold flavors typical of izakaya dining. My adventurous sister even ordered a tongue-infused ice cream, which was reminiscent of Hokkaido's Genghis Khan caramel. The only downside was that the restaurant was cold inside, which may be tough for those sensitive to cold. The service was decent, with mostly trainee staff who could use a bit more improvement. Nonetheless, it was a good restaurant and I would like to visit again when in Kyoto. I forgot to try the famous beef tongue on its own, so I definitely want to have that next time.

There are no special features, so it is just a normal yakiniku restaurant. The restaurant, which was renovated from an old "kura", has a dim and atmospheric feel. The lunch set menu includes "Beef tongue set meal (starting from 1590 yen)", as well as beef tongue hamburger, beef tongue stew, beef tongue croquette, and more. I ordered the "Beef tongue salad set meal (1690 yen)" which comes with beef tongue grill, tail soup, mini salad, grated yam, and roasted barley rice. I was surprised because I had the image of thin beef tongue from yakiniku restaurants, but it was really thick as shown in the menu photos! And it was tender and juicy! The saltiness was just right, and the rice went down smoothly! The beef tongue with the miso pickled chili pepper was exceptional. The tail soup was rich and had a large tail piece in it. I topped the grated yam on the roasted barley rice and finished with barley and grated yam rice. I was so full... For a lunch meal, it's a bit on the expensive side, but I was satisfied because you can enjoy such filling beef tongue dishes. In addition to set meals, they also have shabu-shabu tongue, beef tongue fried chicken, and more. There are also many Tohoku regional dishes such as "nama kamaboko", "icehead namasu", and "Sendai miso grilled dish". I ordered the regular set meal, and I found the beef tongue to be thicker compared to other places. It was cooked rare, but I think they could adjust the cooking level if requested. The food was delicious! The oxtail soup had a rich flavor and was very tasty. It warmed me up! They also serve motsunabe, so I'd like to come back for dinner sometime!
