If you want to eat seafood in Yamashina, this restaurant is highly recommended. The serious owner and his son run the place together. They purchase unfamiliar fish directly from fishing ports, ensuring that the seafood is incredibly fresh and delicious. They serve carefully prepared dishes. They also offer a wide variety of sake, making it a great choice for sake lovers.

The seafood restaurant in front of Ono Station sources fresh and delicious seafood directly from Wakasa Bay. The prices are reasonable, making it popular among regular customers. The lunch menu is also extensive, with most dishes priced around 1,000 yen.

It was nice that the sashimi and sushi soy sauce were separate. I enjoyed a variety of seafood dishes such as grilled dishes, vinegared dishes, simmered dishes, and sashimi with different cooking methods. The rice was a bit firm. The original dish of this restaurant, the hot pot udon, was warming with a gentle and sweet broth! Next time, I want to try more seafood sashimi and crab! There was a parking lot right in front of the restaurant. It's also convenient that it's close to the station! The sushi set for 10 pieces at 2700 yen was a bit of a miscalculation. Lol.

One minute walk from Ono Station on the Tozai Subway Line, I had a family meal at my parents' home. I started with beer and enjoyed the ankimo appetizer while deciding on the menu. The staff informed us that they had fresh squid that day, so we ordered it sashimi style. The texture was amazing, even better than what I had in Fukuoka. We also had tempura and salt-grilled squid parts. We tried various types of sake like Isojiman, Hayaseura, Asahiyama, and Aobana. We then ordered live oysters (from Akō), dried Atka mackerel, flounder sashimi, tekka maki, and dried firefly squid. Finally, we had the squid tempura we ordered earlier, which we could sprinkle with rock salt. It was a satisfying meal that lasted about an hour.

I thought they were only open at night! But they also serve lunch, so I have to go there! It's a restaurant that is very particular about their fish, seems to focus on Wakasa! You can even see information about their fresh arrivals, which is exciting! They have a counter and private room-style sunken kotatsu seating. Although it's a bit pricey, they kindly allowed us to sit in the sunken seating area. They even provided a hot carpet for our feet, which was much appreciated! The Sunday lunch menu is a bit more expensive, but that's okay! It's already great to have lunch on a Sunday! Since it's a fish restaurant, I decided on the "Makunouchi Bento Sushi" for 2,268 yen including tax. The white rice version is about 600 yen cheaper. But I couldn't resist my feelings! The sashimi was made with Wakasa tuna and squid. They explained it to me carefully, but I forgot the details. I don't usually eat squid, but this one was so sweet and delicious! The sushi was generously sized and very satisfying. The side dishes were also delicious, especially the dashimaki tamago! I'm not an expert, so that's all the explanation I can give! The poster saying "We have blowfish" caught my attention! Well, it's a bit early to have blowfish, so I'll have to wait! I think this restaurant is great for a lunch with delicious and carefully prepared fish dishes! They have 2-3 parking spaces in front of the restaurant, so it's okay to come by car. It might be nice to come for blowfish at night! It's right by Ono Station on the subway, making it a convenient location for those who want to have a drink as well!

Delicious, but... the cost performance is not great for a local izakaya. The daily set meal (around 900-1100 yen) always has a small main dish and lackluster side dishes. It's always written as "flavorful miso soup," but isn't flavorful soup a given? If you add around 600 yen(?), you can change the white rice to sushi, but then it becomes quite an expensive lunch. It's a level where I would go if I had a bonus. The Facebook post saying "If you want to eat fish, this is the place" is questionable. Maybe the family-run business has a lax quality check. If they're going to charge high prices, they need to improve in terms of quality as well. If they want to have a "if you want to eat" izakaya vibe, they need to improve the cost performance. It's nearby, so I hope for improvements in the future.

The restaurant mainly focuses on sashimi, so I haven't tried their simmered dishes, tempura, or grilled dishes. However, considering the level of the restaurant, it seems to be quite high. The menu is on the pricier side, but the food is delicious, which is expected. I paid around 6000 yen per person, and while it may seem a bit expensive, the quality justifies the price. The restaurant has been around for a long time, so it must be popular. If I were to visit again, I would like to try their simmered dishes and tempura. However, if they only offer sashimi, I might choose to go to a different restaurant. I would consider going for lunch though.

Outer ring, Ono, west side. I remembered that I had a banquet here at night before and the fish was unexpectedly good, so I stopped by for lunch. There is space to park about two cars in front of the restaurant. Inside the restaurant, there are two fish tanks (with fish and crabs), counter seats in front of the sushi case, table seats in a raised area behind it, and a private room in the back. Both the sushi case and the fish tanks have quite a lot of fresh ingredients, giving a sense of reassurance. I ordered the daily lunch set for 840 yen. It included sashimi (yellowtail), kinpira gobou (burdock root), sautéed spinach, red miso soup, and rice. The sashimi was made with reasonably priced fish, but the freshness and presentation were good enough. The side dishes were also decent in taste and portion. You can also have rice cooked in with additional toppings for a small extra charge. There aren't many decent dining options in this area, so this place is a good choice. By the way, the banquet I had here at night was also great.

During a sightseeing trip for autumn leaves, I happened to stop by a restaurant for lunch. To my surprise, they had sashimi of fresh salmon, hairy crab, and shishamo on their evening menu! Since I have spent a long time in Hokkaido, seeing shishamo sashimi brought back nostalgic memories, as I rarely see it outside of Murakawa. I asked the chef why they had it, and he explained that they source it directly from the fishing cooperatives in Kushiro, Akkeshi, and Soya! He also mentioned they have sea urchin available! No wonder the sashimi and sushi during lunch were delicious. Apparently, they have been featured on TV as well, as the chef was joking with regular customers about whether he looked good on camera. It seemed like they had many banquet reservations that night. I would love to visit this place in the evening and become a regular if it was nearby.

The parking lot in front of the entrance can only accommodate a few cars, so we recommend taking a taxi or the train. The restaurant is located near Ono subway station. Inside, there is a counter as well as tatami seating. The prices are a bit high, but the menu offers a variety of fresh and unique fish dishes that you may not typically have. The sushi and seafood bowls are colorful and satisfying. Depending on the season, there are dishes featuring seasonal fish, so each visit offers a different menu to enjoy. The ikura gunkan-maki (salmon roe battleship roll) is recommended as they generously fill each piece with large, overflowing amounts of ikura.

This is a traditional Japanese restaurant in Yamashina. I have visited twice for lunch. The first visit was for a sashimi set meal and I was quite satisfied. I thought it was not the type of place a regular office worker like me could go for dinner. One day, my senior told me to come to Yamashina. To my surprise, the chef was my senior!! He said he wanted to celebrate because his baby was recently born, so he treated us to crab!!! When we arrived at the restaurant, my senior, his male friend, and two unknown women were there... Who are they?? Well, since they were women, it was fine haha. The crab dishes were delicious!!! We talked about crab sashimi, grilled crab, and crab hot pot, and we were totally absorbed in the food. The crab in the hot pot was so fresh you could eat it raw!! My senior was more focused on vegetables... haha we had two refills of vegetables for the hot pot. 1800ml of shochu, plenty of beer, 4 men, 2 women, a total of 6 people, and the bill came to 42,000 yen. Isn't that cheap??? We couldn't have the porridge because it was late, but we were extremely satisfied!!! The organizer said the women didn't have to pay, each man paid 10,000 yen. It's quite a lot of money for a poor office worker like me, but my senior said, "It's a celebration, I'll pay for it!!" I'm truly sorry and thank you very much!!! The drunken story continued as we disappeared into a snack bar in Yamashina and then accelerated to Muromachi in Jujou later... (to be continued)

On the way to Suishin-in, we found this restaurant. At first, we were a bit skeptical but decided to have lunch there. I tried a bite of the tuna bowl and thought, "Wow, this is delicious." My partner asked the chef for a recommendation and ordered the fresh oysters, which were plump and creamy, and we were both very satisfied. Since then, whenever we crave delicious fish, we always come back here for lunch or dinner. We enjoy the daily recommended sashimi or mackerel sushi. A must-try is the Hokkai bowl. For a reasonable lunch or dinner, we recommend ordering from the a la carte menu. The restaurant truly serves delicious fresh fish. We love sea urchin, so we always end our meal with the sea urchin sushi roll. It's so sweet and tasty.

No matter how many times I visit, this restaurant always has fresh seasonal fish and delicious seasonal dishes. Even now, there are items like "shishamo sashimi" (although it was sold out when I went...), showing that there are still unknown dishes to try. I make sure to visit at least once every season.
This restaurant has been around since I was in elementary school. I visited for the first time as an adult (about 20 years later) and the fish was incredibly delicious. The prices are a bit high, but the taste makes it worth it. The chef apparently goes all the way to Wakasa to procure the fish. It seems like there has been a generational change, with the son now being the chef. They provide recommendations for the day and explanations about the sashimi platter, making the dining experience enjoyable. It can get fully booked on weekends, and sometimes it's reserved for private parties, so be aware of that. It's a restaurant that makes you want to visit again and again. The clientele is on the older side, so it's a good choice for when you want to enjoy a leisurely meal.
