One of my favorite coffee shops in Kyoto. It is only open on weekends and is located in a renovated machiya with a roasting factory attached. You can enjoy delicious coffee in a Kyoto-like setting with a courtyard and shade of trees. Highly recommended.

Around 2:30 on Saturday, I stopped by on my way from Nanzen-ji to Kyoto Station. There was a bike parking lot in the back, so I parked there and walked through the alley to the courtyard. It was beautifully swept and had a nice atmosphere. I ordered a cafe latte and they brought it to my table. The courtyard had three young couples and one foreigner, so I sat on a bench a little hesitantly. I realized after ordering that they have a partnership with Rapha, and if you show your membership card, you can get a discount. I'll try using it next time. As more couples started to arrive, I finished my drink quickly and headed towards Kyoto Station.

Weekender has several stores in Kyoto, but I really wanted to visit this Roastery. When I arrived, I was a bit confused as the entrance was wide, but I couldn't tell which store it was. Once I entered, I saw a LORING roaster (probably 20kg) right in front of me. I placed my order and paid on the side, then sat in the backyard to enjoy my coffee. The coffee I ordered was "Guatemala Don Angel (light roast)" and I tasted flavors of cherry, peach, blackcurrant, strawberry, and cheese. When I took a sip, the berry acidity spread gently in my mouth. As it cooled down, a lime or lemon jelly-like acidity emerged. I bought some beans to brew at home, and I really enjoy this roasting style. It feels like I can see the expression of the farmers in front of me.

Located between Shijo and Gojo Streets, this cafe has a traditional townhouse feel. It is situated on a small maple-lined alley. The cafe has a relatively spacious courtyard with a beautiful view, but seating is limited to four people at proper tables, with additional seating available on narrow wooden benches. The cafe offers a delicious coffee experience, with the best cafe au lait I've ever had, rich and flavorful, and a refreshing Coffee Light. Despite its high quality, the prices are surprisingly affordable at around 500 yen. The only downside is that the cafe is only open on weekends. I hope they consider opening on weekdays as well. The service is efficient, and credit cards are accepted, although they require a physical signature on a pad. There are two restrooms available. The cafe's location on a charming Kyoto alley adds to its unique atmosphere.

I ordered dark and light iced coffee. It was the best in the hot weather. I wish there were some nicer chairs, but the location is good. There is another store nearby, so I'll try that next time. If you like refreshing coffee, I recommend it.

I visited on a Sunday morning. The style is to sit in the courtyard and enjoy your drink, with local elderly ladies chatting with travelers - a heartwarming scene. They mainly operate as a roastery and only open as a coffee stand on weekends. The courtyard you pass through inside the old house has a fantastic atmosphere! However, it would be even better if the male staff who brought the order didn't do so in silence, a bit more customer service awareness would enhance the experience. Thank you for the meal!

I passed by without noticing the entrance, but the place had a simple charm. I heard they only offer takeout, but there was a garden in the back where you could enjoy your coffee under the blue sky. It didn't seem like they had cakes or anything. I ordered the drip coffee of the day. It had a strong acidity which wasn't to my liking, but the atmosphere was really nice so I'm glad I went! I'm not sure if they explained the coffee of the day, but I wish I had chosen one with less acidity to drink.

As I was walking along, I became curious about something and approached it. It turned out to be a coffee shop only open on weekends. It felt like I was being guided there (laughs). Today's drip coffee was Rwanda with a sour taste. I had a cafe latte in the courtyard, which was crowded with people (laughs).

I loved the coffee at WEEKENDERS COFFEE All Right inside Kamome Books in Kagurazaka, Tokyo, so I heard that the main store is in Kyoto and I always wanted to visit when I went to Kyoto. After having breakfast, I headed to the roastery out of the two locations. The atmosphere was very Japanese, with a small and inconspicuous sign that I actually missed at first. It was a unique Japanese space that allowed me to enjoy the tranquility and natural beauty of Japan in the courtyard. It was a wonderful space that you don't often find in Tokyo. I shared a cup of coffee made from Honduran and Ethiopian beans. The cups were the same brand as the Tokyo store. The coffee at the Tokyo store was delicious and to my liking, so I had high expectations for the coffee in Kyoto, and it did not disappoint. The Honduran coffee was lightly roasted with a good balance of acidity, richness, and sweetness, which I really enjoyed. I liked it so much that I bought some Honduran beans to take home with me.

Before going out for a walk, I searched for a restaurant on Tabelog. I found a nice place nearby, which my friend discovered. The name of the restaurant suggests that it is only open on weekends. It is located in a renovated traditional Kyoto townhouse, and when I entered, I was greeted by the lovely smell of coffee. I ordered a café latte. Although there were no seats inside, the restaurant shares a courtyard with another establishment using the townhouse. Luckily, we had the courtyard all to ourselves when no other customers were around. We enjoyed our café latte in a beautiful space with traditional Japanese seating, surrounded by fresh greenery. It was a delightful experience feeling the pleasant breeze and savoring the delicious coffee. I also bought some coffee beans (Colombian) for my husband, and when we brewed it at home for breakfast, he was very pleased, saying "This is delicious." I recommend visiting on a sunny weekend. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

After enjoying a graceful afternoon tea, I wandered around nearby and found this place through Tabelog! After tea, I decided to enjoy some coffee here. It was truly wonderful (*´艸`) The exterior gives no hint of the lovely space that extends deep inside. The building itself has been renovated from the Meiji era and turned into a complex facility with guesthouses and restaurants. Upon entering, you are greeted by high ceilings and a large roasting machine at the entrance, emitting a delightful coffee aroma that tickles your nose. I settled my bill first. ●Cafe Latte 510 yen A beautiful latte art is created on top. The taste is quite milky and mild, very easy to drink (*^^)v On a slightly chilly day like this one, a warm drink like this feels especially delicious. But most of all... as you walk further into the shop, there is a large courtyard with a big tree providing shade. It's a wonderful space where you can sit back and relax, enjoying the tranquility. How lovely it is ♡ I can't help but think, "I want it to be popular, but I also want it to remain hidden." This place truly allows you to savor the essence of Kyoto. Plus, it seems they are only open on weekends, which may raise the bar a bit, but if you're lucky enough to have the place to yourself without other customers, that's super lucky! Highly recommended. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

■Visit Date: February 20, 2021■Received Items・Today's Coffee■MEMOI visited this shop on February 20, 2021. As you can guess from the name, this shop is only open on weekends, Saturdays and Sundays. The shop has a charming design that incorporates the traditional Kyoto townhouse style. There is a courtyard inside. There are 6 seats in total (2 of which are stone), and the general rule is standing. It's a pleasant experience to enjoy a peaceful time away from the hustle and bustle while admiring the atmosphere of the Kyoto townhouse. Inside the shop, there is a roaster which adds to the nice ambiance. The coffee is delicious. I had today's coffee, which was from Colombia. It was a fragrant and delicious coffee. After lunch, enjoying a cup of coffee in the sunny weather where you can feel the hint of spring is very calming. I had a pleasant time enjoying the delicious coffee and the atmosphere of the Kyoto townhouse courtyard.■Blog: https://ay-style.net/?p=57727

Experience luxury only on weekends! A townhouse-style coffee roastery with a courtyard! "WEEKENDERS COFFEE ROASTERY" opened in November 2019 in Kyoto, Shimizu Gojo. While normally serving coffee for sale as a coffee roastery, on weekends only, you can enjoy coffee inside the shop. I happened to be nearby so I popped in to check it out! The shop is about a 10-minute walk from Kyoto Kawaramachi Station and Shimizu Gojo Station. The renovated townhouse exterior exudes a Kyoto-like atmosphere. At first glance, it looks like an ordinary house, so you might miss it if you're not paying attention. Upon entering the shop, there is a counter where you can place your order. The menu mainly consists of coffee, with options like cafe latte and espresso. I ordered a drip coffee. They brew it right in front of you, and a delightful aroma fills the air. Looking up, you'll notice a double-height ceiling that creates an open and airy space. In one corner of the shop, there is a large rock. When I asked the staff about it, they said, "You can even sit on it!" The coffee had a strong acidity but was light and delicious. As you venture further into the shop, a spacious courtyard unfolds before you! There are benches where you can sit and enjoy your coffee. A large tree planted in the middle of the courtyard is quite impressive. The natural light streaming in from outside creates a cozy atmosphere. Enjoying coffee while gazing at the charming Kyoto-style courtyard was a wonderful experience. The exclusivity of only being open on weekends adds to the special charm. It may be a bit of a walk from the station, but I highly recommend making the trip!

WEEKENDERS COFFEE is a roastery where you can enjoy coffee inside the shop only on weekends. The exterior looks like a traditional townhouse. It may be a bit hard to find, but once you step inside, you can smell the coffee and enjoy the lovely atmosphere. I had a cappuccino while gazing at the garden and it was a wonderful time. I even thought about getting another cup and staying a bit longer. If you don't mind light roasts, I highly recommend this place. It's a cozy spot that you'll want to visit during your stroll in Kyoto. Thank you for the delicious experience!

※There are only benches and no seats available. This is primarily a takeout or standing drinking establishment. I had heard that the roasting facility was being relocated from Moto Tanaka to the city center, and I was looking forward to it. Weekenders used to be a cafe where you could not only enjoy coffee but also have lunch or dinner, which is hard to imagine now. However, there was an aura about it that was different from regular shops. It has now become a nationally renowned roastery. It is located in a renovated machiya building that shares a courtyard with eateries and guest houses. Inside, you'll notice the prominent roasting machine. I chose the "Coffee of the Day," which happened to be from Colombia. The owner and his wife were there, and the owner himself brewed the coffee. It was fresh and had a lemon-like aroma that spread in the mouth. While preferences may vary, I think those who are not fond of coffee should definitely try it here. The main focus is on the roasting facility, and coffee is only available for consumption on weekends. The atmosphere is more relaxed compared to Fushimi Kaido, and you can also enjoy the luxurious space of the courtyard.
