It was a cloudy Thursday around 2:20 pm when I visited the bakery. There were about 3 customers ahead of me, but it was not a problem to look at the bread. (I had to wait a bit at the cashier.) All the bread was packed in bags, which was hygienic. I bought 4 breads: Rye bread with rice koji French (220 yen), Panini with bacon and tomato (340 yen), Potato brioche (240 yen), Honey mustard bacon (330 yen). I ate them at home, and putting a fried egg in the Panini made it taste amazing. Overall, the seasoning is on the sweeter side. The breads are cheap and big, so I felt very satisfied.

I've always been curious about the shop in front of the ticket gate at Gotanda Station. I usually buy at "IKEDAYAMA" in Gotanda, so I haven't had the opportunity to buy here. Today, I planned to buy here from the beginning. I will definitely get the recommended rum raisin sandwich, but what else should I buy? For tomorrow's breakfast, I'll get hard toast and bacon cream. As a snack with whiskey, I'll buy the Nutty Nutty Nutty. The hard toast is light and I feel like I can eat a lot of it. The bacon cream has diced bacon inside, and when you bite into it with the bread, the bacon fat and bread mix together deliciously. The Nutty Nutty Nutty is full of nuts, perfect for nut lovers. The rum raisin sandwich is like a bread version of Rokkatei's Marseille butter sandwich. The firm bread is a nice touch.

I had a set meal and then felt like having something sweet, so I searched for a highly ranked dessert on Tabelog and found this shop conveniently located in the station. I have always thought that chocolate banana is the best, and when I saw this item on the menu, which looked like a chocolate banana, I decided to try it immediately. However, when I tasted it, there was no chocolate, it was caramel banana, and what is "babka" anyway!? I don't know, but it was incredibly delicious!! I couldn't resist and ended up buying another one (lol). The texture was moist and chewy, with the banana being a gooey type. I prefer the gooey banana presence rather than mixing it evenly into the cake batter, so that aspect matched perfectly. Who knew that caramel and banana could go so well together! I later found out that "babka" is a special bread eaten in Poland, Russia, and Ukraine on special occasions. It's usually filled with lots of chocolate, but they chose caramel on purpose. There's a stone oven in the back and an eat-in space as well. Although you can't see the banana at first glance, you can smell the banana flavor when you taste it. The sweet caramel sauce and crunchy almonds on the surface provide a satisfying texture, making it a nice little dessert.

I chose the Quinny Croissant for 270 yen, the Coarse Sausage from France for 345 yen, and the Bacon & Potato Dog for 345 yen. The Quinny Croissant was a bit sweet, but the outside was crispy and very good. The other items were also very delicious.

Eating the bread on the same day it's purchased is recommended for the best taste. The sandwich bread is packed with fillings, providing a satisfying bite. I tried the raisin toast, which had a dense texture and included rye. The hard toast had a French bread-like quality. The mushroom bacon bread was rich and flavorful. The potato olive focaccia had a generous amount of potatoes. I enjoyed the experience and would definitely visit this bakery again when in Gotanda.

The other day, I stayed at a hotel near Gotanda and wanted to have some bread for breakfast. I found a bakery right in front of the station where I could choose from a variety of freshly baked bread in the morning. The croissant was average, but the walnut bread was delicious.

Had lunch at Rod Gotanda. Purchased "Danish Sausage Croissant", "Bacon & Potato Dog", and an iced cafe latte. The Potato Dog with sauerkraut and mustard was a good match with the bacon and potato. The wheat aroma was pleasant even while chewing. The Sausage Croissant was tasty, but personally, I didn't like the sausage part. I prefer sausages that are crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, but this one seemed a bit dry. Tried the new item "Fruit Quinny" for dessert, which had a generous amount of sliced almonds on the surface. It had a nice citrus aroma due to the rum-soaked currants, oranges, and lemons inside. The bread had a crispy crust from being baked in a stone oven, but overall, the dough felt light and somewhat lacking. I purchased a Raisin Sandwich for 250 yen (excluding tax), a Coarse Ground Sausage French Bread for 320 yen (excluding tax), and an Almond Apple Pie for 350 yen (excluding tax). The Raisin Sandwich had delicious cream, which explained its popularity. I think a softer and fluffier bread would have balanced better with the cream. The Coarse Ground Sausage was tasty, with a crispy crust and delicious sausage. The Apple Pie had a nice crispy texture to the pastry. I would have been happier if there were more fillings. Overall, while the stone oven baking provided a tasty crust, the lightness of the dough left something to be desired. A more substantial or chewier texture would have balanced the flavors better. Despite its convenient location in front of the ticket gates at the station, the bakery seemed a bit lacking considering the area has other delicious bakeries and the prices were not cheap. Cocoa Bran & Chocolate Muffin (280 yen) features a cocoa batter with whole wheat and wheat germ, topped with cute chocolate chips. The muffin is fluffy with a subtle bran aroma, not overly sweet. The surprise of chocolate chips adds a nice touch. The staff is friendly, making for a cheerful start to the day.

JR Gotanda Station exit the ticket gate and you'll find "Rod" right in front of you. I actually bought from here before and it was pretty good, so I decided to stop by while waiting for ramen. Feeling hungry, I couldn't resist and ended up getting 3 items for 2 people. The bacon and tomato panini was decent, but I couldn't help but pick up the flashy Danish croissant sausage near the entrance. For drinks, we got 100% apple juice and iced coffee. Both were marked as freshly baked but weren't particularly warm. The bacon and tomato panini was completely cold. However, the dough was light with a nice aroma of wheat, which made it quite tasty. As I took more bites, the flavor grew on me. The cheese and bacon inside, combined with the tomato, gave it a refreshing taste. This made me decide to try paninis from other places as well. The croissant sausage looked heavy and indeed it was. It seemed intentional by the maker to make it heavy by spreading bechamel sauce on the croissant dough. However, if they had been more careful with folding the dough, it could have had a nice crispy texture. Overall, I think this bakery inside the station is doing a good job. Thank you for the meal.

Today's otaku activity took me to Gotanda. I passed through the ticket gate at Gotanda station and found a bakery right in front of me. I decided to kill time until 11:00 when I had a ramen reservation by checking out the bakery. I noticed they were offering whole wheat French bread filled with a rum raisin cream made from butter at each store. Just in time, I entered the bakery and tried this bread. The interior of the bakery had a seating area, so I chose to eat in. The bread was warm and incredibly delicious. The rum raisin butter cream had a lovely buttery aroma with a sweet and sour taste of rum raisins. For only 250 yen, this treat was a steal. It's perfect for killing time right in front of the ticket gate.

Little Mermaid operates a stone oven bakery. I'm not sure why they use a stone oven, but compared to large chain bakeries which I would rate a 2.5 in terms of taste, Little Mermaid's pastries like Pain au Chocolat, Raisin Milk France, and Anpan are of higher quality. Plus, being located near the station adds to the convenience.

I usually use the eat-in space in the store at 9:30 in the morning. The tables by the window are spacious and comfortable. The items are all small and somewhat expensive. Reheating is not allowed. Sausage Croissant for 374 yen ☆3.4 The thick sausage is well cooked and crispy on the outside. The dough is thin and crispy like a pie crust. The cheese sauce on top was cold, but not too hard and creamy, making it easy to eat. It's small but the sausage is big, so it's satisfying to eat. I would be happier if it were a little cheaper.

In winter, one of the things I always crave is rum raisin. I bought a rum raisin sandwich for 250 yen and a chestnut quenelle for 250 yen to have with my coffee. The rum raisin flavor was stronger than I expected, and it had a satisfying taste.

Since it's right in front of Gotanda Station's ticket gates, it's easy to enter. There's also a café inside that you can use. I took the pastries home and found the Gorgonzola's saltiness and the Danish bread's texture to be really good. The nuts at the bottom of the Stollen were also delicious, with a soft and sweet taste.
