Adzuki beans are mildly sweet, delicious ○ I wish there was a little more Uji syrup!

There was a traditional warabi mochi shop that also had a new and refreshing option. This one was mainly made with agar. The syrup tasted similar to the warabi mochi and was very delicious. It also had sweet bean paste and apricot inside. Although it was described as coffee flavored agar, it didn't have much of a coffee taste.

Near the famous Kameido Tenjin shrine known for its kuzumochi, there is a shop called Funabashi-ya. In the summer, they also serve shaved ice. I was surprised by how fluffy and voluminous the ice was. The syrup is served separately. Since I wanted to try the kuzumochi as well, I opted for the set that included it instead of the shiratama.

Kuzumochi is good, but the limited-time seasonal Amakusa orange sweet beans are really hard to come by, so when you see them, you'll definitely want to buy them. There are two types of agar jelly: regular agar jelly and agar jelly with mango, kiwi, and a hint of salted beans all rolled up and flavored with white honey. Oh, it's delicious as always. And let's not forget about the kuzumochi.

Famous for their kuzumochi, Funabashiya also offers shaved ice during the summer season. I arrived around 2 PM and there were 3 groups ahead of me, but I didn't have to wait long to get in. They offer 5 flavors of shaved ice: strawberry, summer tangerine, grape, Uji sweet potato, and black honey kinako. My child loves summer tangerine, so we ordered that first (it got demolished before I could even take a picture haha), and for the adults, we got Uji sweet potato with matcha ice cream on top. The shaved ice is fluffy and has a nice texture, and the syrups are not overly sweet, so it's delicious until the last bite. I have tried shaved ice from other high-end shops, but I always come back here because it's the most delicious. It's one of the highlights of my summer every year! #KidsFriendly

As expected of a long-established restaurant. The building exudes a sense of history. Had Italian food before coming here and was already full. First visited the nearby Kameido Tenjin to pray for my child's academic success. My daughter got great luck❗️ It was hot, so there was an option to enjoy shaved ice inside the shop, but I chose to take it home. Bought kuzumochi, sweet beans, and sweet red bean soup. The kuzumochi here is really delicious. The other products were also enjoyed by the children. It's worth the price, after all❗️ 😂 Used the leftover sweet red bean soup as a topping on bread the next day, making my own version of anpan. 😂 Thank you for the meal.

I went to eat shaved ice for the first time in almost a year. I ordered the Uji Kinjimilk with 3 pieces of mochi set. The red bean paste was just sweet enough, the condensed milk was drizzled on top to taste, and the matcha syrup was slightly bitter. I love it ❤️

◇Visit Date: Around 1:00 PM on a Saturday in August
◇Crowd Level: Not crowded
◇Ordering Method, Speed of Service: Order and pay at the entrance first, takes about 5 minutes
◇Taste: "Shiratama Cream Anmitsu and Mini Kuzumochi" - The kuzumochi is made from wheat starch that has had gluten removed and fermented with lactic acid bacteria for 450 days. The expiration date is 2 days. Freshly made is tastier than the souvenir type. A body-friendly sweet. Anmitsu also contains kuzumochi.

Irregular series "He's a Gohler" - Tateru (25), who serves as a special ambassador for the idol group "Tsunanote Hikizakisaka 46," has embarked on a journey to find delicious shaved ice with Mari Mo (19), the group's top Gohler (shaved ice enthusiast). Tateru had a concern: the world is in a shaved ice boom, and those who love shaved ice are called "Gohlers." However, the owner of a famous shaved ice shop he had visited before had complained that Gohlers, a minority of shaved ice maniacs, criticize and compare different shops, causing ordinary people to feel intimidated about enjoying shaved ice. Tateru's anger reached its peak: "Gohlers are being belittled!" Despite being someone who critiques various shaved ice shops and is considered a "hated figure," Tateru accepted it as his fate. But what he couldn't stand was when Mari Mo, who always enjoys shaved ice with a pure heart, seemed to be criticized. As they met for another shaved ice date, they discussed this issue. Tateru worried that Gohlers might be disliked, citing how ramen enthusiasts are sometimes called "ramen otaku" and disliked for being critical. Mari Mo reassured him that she doesn't critique and enjoys all types of shaved ice. Tateru apologized for his strange talk and they continued their date. They visited a famous shop called Funabashi-ya near Kameido Tenjin, where they enjoyed the unique grape-flavored Fuji shaved ice. Tateru found the pistachio topping bland but liked its texture. He decided to order without toppings next time. They noticed a grandmother and her granddaughter enjoying shaved ice, with the granddaughter being a regular customer. The grandmother explained how her granddaughter loves the shaved ice here and collects stamps on a card. Tateru praised the granddaughter's dedication to her favorite shaved ice and saw potential in her as a future expert in the field.

I enjoyed it normally. Reviews are subjective, so it's based on personal opinion. The photo was taken with an iPhone and is unedited. I think the photo accurately represents what I felt. Kakigori with kuromochi and lactic acid bacteria, topped with grape and purple sweet potato paste. Price: 1100 yen. Additional syrup (half portion): 180 yen. Set with kuromochi: 250 yen.

The deliciousness of Kuzumochi is the best at Funabashiya. Their Anmitsu is also tasty. However, when it comes to shaved ice, it seems like it's not their specialty. Paying over 1100 yen for shaved ice of that level is quite expensive. It should only cost around 50 yen for ice, matcha, and red beans. There was very little syrup, and half of the ice was left unused. Is there syrup at the bottom? No, there isn't. For shaved ice at a price of over 1100 yen, it should be filled with syrup made of 100% fruit juice and pulp. In other words, it should be like the shaved ice from a fruit parlor. You can make that for free at a sweets paradise. If they expand their menu too much, it might affect the taste of their Kuzumochi, which is around a 7 out of 10 in terms of deliciousness. If you eat in-store, go for their Anmitsu.

I bought it at an event inside Omiya Station ecute. It contained lemon-flavored yokan, which could be a divisive taste. It may not be suitable for those who don't like citrus flavors. Overall, it was delicious. Next time, I would like to try it at the store instead of getting it to go.

I visited around 1pm on a Sunday. I was prepared for a long line, but was seated right away. I paid at the register and was shown to a table. I ordered the "Fuji" shaved ice (1,100 yen) and the "Amanatsu Mikan Milk" shaved ice (1,100 yen + 100 yen for additional syrup). The shaved ice came with syrup on the side. It was a bit challenging to pace myself with the shaved ice. Both the Fuji and Amanatsu Mikan flavors were delicious, tasting like I was eating the fruits themselves. The small fruit toppings added a special touch and made it exciting. As I ate the Fuji shaved ice, I encountered sweet potato paste which was comforting. The hot tea served beforehand was a nice touch. The atmosphere inside the shop was calm and peaceful. The greenery outside the window made it feel like I wasn't in Tokyo. It was delicious.

I passed by around 11 o'clock on a Friday afternoon and decided to stop by out of curiosity. There were no other customers inside, so I ordered the kuzumochi for 790 yen to eat in. They served me hot tea first, followed by the kuzumochi. It wasn't the usual kuzumochi, but rather a different type made with arrowroot starch. The price seemed reasonable considering the historical value. The sweet taste and perfectly delicious black syrup were irresistible. This place must be popular, I'll definitely be back. Thank you for the meal!

On a Saturday afternoon, I was in the mood for anmitsu and shaved ice. It was around 3:00 PM and there was a line. I placed my order and paid first, then waited at my seat. The shaved ice for each table seemed to be a bit delayed, arriving in a different order. I ordered the matcha anmitsu with extra matcha ice topping. I also got the set with mochi, and the mochi was really chewy and delicious!

Honey alone seems to be good enough, but tea (this time houjicha) goes well with it. Coffee agar jelly receives mixed reviews, while walnuts and dried fruits are satisfying on their own. However, when combined with anmitsu, it provides a reliable and delicious taste.

From Kinshicho to Tekuteku. I enjoyed the air mist in front of the store for a while, and then entered. It was a prepayment system. In the midst of the steamy heat, I was captivated by the shaved ice, but the historic Funabashiya shop is known for its kuzumochi, right? I was given a wooden tag and told to sit wherever I liked, so I chose a seat in the backyard. Although I was under the canopy for shade, the heat was still intense, so I used a handheld fan to cool off. The food was served quickly, which was surprising. The hot and delicious tea with plenty of kinako and rich black honey was excellent. Of course, the kuzumochi itself, with its adjustable sweetness, was also appreciated. The mineral-rich water helped to refresh and revitalize. I am grateful for the green tea that quenched my thirst. Thank you for the meal. (*´人`) ※Payment with PayPay is accepted.

The restaurant is located about a 10-minute walk from Kinshicho Station, a little further away. In front of the old-fashioned building, there is a wisteria trellis, and at the entrance of the shop, there are swimming carp which creates a charming and atmospheric feel. Inside the shop, on the right side is the eat-in area, and on the left is the space for selling kuzumochi. I used the cafe. I had the Anmitsu for 800 yen. The Anmitsu includes agar jelly, red beans, sweet bean paste, wolfberries, two pieces of mochi, two pieces of kuzumochi, and yokan, generously topped with black syrup. The small agar jelly is crunchy, and the sweet bean paste is rich and not too moist. The kuzumochi is chewy and delicious. I was able to relax in the calm space. Next time, I would like to go try the kuzumochi menu when the wisteria flowers are in bloom.

In the scorching heat of Nishinippori, there was a place that felt like a Ghibli world with greenery and a cool atmosphere, where many people were lining up. I won a shopping district voucher at the nearby bakery "The King's Hideaway" lucky draw, and they told me, "You can also use it at Funabashiya." It was a strange connection, so I decided to go. I ordered a set of grape kakigori and red bean strawberry milk. You can add your own toppings. The mochi was chewy and had a good bounce, with plenty of kinako and black syrup. It was satisfying to eat, almost like eating rice cakes! The kakigori was a bit light in flavor, but maybe I've gotten used to the trend of strong flavors and toppings in kakigori these days... Thinking back, it has a classic taste. Knowing that Akutagawa Ryunosuke also ate here made me very happy. It was hot, but I'm glad I came.

I accidentally forgot my smartphone and couldn't take photos of the shop. Today, I bought a special box for 1650 yen. When I drew a lottery ticket, I won the third prize. Funabashiya's kuzumochi is by far the most delicious. I have eaten this kuzumochi hundreds of times since I was born. I think it's the best kuzumochi that no other company can imitate. Today was hot like summer, and the shop was full of customers eating anmitsu and other desserts. A few months ago, the president was involved in a scandal, but the young staff members were working hard.

The customer service is not friendly! The taste is consistent and the kuzumochi has a mild flavor. The interior of the store is clean and has a nice traditional Japanese atmosphere with wooden decor. Asanoya in Ikegami has a unique flavor that makes you want to come back, different from the store-bought plain taste. If you don't like kuzumochi, this might be a good option for you.
