The restaurant in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto, combines a French kaiseki cuisine with a touch of Japanese atmosphere. The cozy atmosphere of the small shop is run by the owner alone. It's a relaxed dining experience without any stiffness. The dishes are all delicious and reasonably priced. The cost performance is excellent!

The place has a casual atmosphere located west of Kyoto City Hall. There are 6 counter seats and 2 tables, offering a course menu for 6300 yen. The hors d'oeuvre includes a platter of quiche, scallops with ponzu jelly, mushrooms and salmon with vinegar, broccoli mousse, and more. The lobster soup and Western-style chawanmushi are rich in flavor. The carpaccio of tuna and sea bream with ginger sauce is refreshing. The cold soup made of apples and sweet potatoes has a strong sweet potato taste. The grilled saury wheel with mashed potatoes and mushrooms is served hot and delicious. The steak is served with dessert including kiwi, pudding, and burdock ice cream. The cheesecake is rich and the coffee is reasonably priced at 600 yen, while shochu is 500 yen. The owner trained at Okumura in Ichijoji and Gion, and the cuisine is similar to a traditional Japanese kaiseki meal. Overall, it offers good value for money with a wide selection of drinks available.

"Restaurant Miki" is a French kaiseki restaurant located in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto. Despite having a rating of 3.04 on Tabelog, it ranks 86th in the "Kyoto City Nakagyo-ku French" ranking. I visited this restaurant for lunch after eating at "Soba Rōjina" nearby. The restaurant is located very close to Kyoto City Hall Station, just a 1-2 minute walk away. The interior of the restaurant has a clean and elegant Japanese-style atmosphere, despite being a French restaurant. The concept of the restaurant seems to be "French kaiseki," where you eat French cuisine with chopsticks. I ordered the 5300 yen course, which included various dishes such as amuse-bouche, bread, hors d'oeuvres, carpaccio, soup, fish, meat, rice, dessert, coffee, and a glass of sparkling wine. The food was delicious, especially the crab cream croquette with sea bream. The presentation of the hors d'oeuvres was beautiful. The restaurant has a casual and relaxed atmosphere, and you can dine without a reservation. It was a unique experience to enjoy Western cuisine in a traditional Japanese setting. The restaurant has room for improvement in terms of the dishes, but I appreciate their innovative approach to French kaiseki. Kyoto Prefecture is known for its excellent dining establishments, and visiting "Restaurant Miki" was a meaningful culinary experience. I look forward to exploring more gourmet restaurants and expanding my culinary knowledge in the future.

This restaurant is located on the 1st floor of a building on Oshikoji Miyukicho Street in Kyoto. The front features beige walls and a light brown entrance, giving a simple and warm feel to the place. The interior has white walls with brown furniture, creating a natural and cozy atmosphere. After visiting the English Garden exhibition at the Kyoto Cultural Museum, I had lunch here. There are two lunch options available, one for 3,300 yen and the other for 5,300 yen. I chose the former, which had a fusion of Japanese and Western flavors. The first course was a seasonal appetizer plate, similar to a traditional Japanese "hassun." It included asparagus with black sesame sauce, edamame, shrimp, yuba, and a jellied sauce with Kochi soy sauce. The standout was the smoked firefly squid, which had a rich smoky aroma and a deep, flavorful taste. The second course was a grapefruit and flounder carpaccio with a new onion sauce and "urui" mountain vegetable. The tangy sauce complemented the fresh vegetables, grapefruit, and tender flounder well, creating a refreshing taste. Next was a cold paprika soup with a creamy texture and a gentle paprika flavor. The fish dish was sautéed Spanish mackerel with pipérade sauce, which had a complex taste with a hint of herb flavor. The meat dish was beer-braised pork shoulder, incredibly tender with a rich yet light broth. It paired surprisingly well with rice. For dessert, there was a cheesecake, orange-scented pudding, kiwi, and asparagus ice cream. The cheesecake was moist with a hint of alcohol, while the pudding was smooth and rich. The kiwi provided a refreshing acidity, and the asparagus ice cream had a light and refreshing taste. The meal ended with a light cup of tea.

It was my first visit with my usual three friends. We made a reservation through Tabelog, but had trouble changing the number of people, so we ended up calling the restaurant. They kindly accepted our last-minute change. The restaurant was small and unassuming, not what you would expect from a French restaurant. We opted for the 5500 yen course, which included appetizers, soup, carpaccio, fish, meat, and dessert, all served in small portions with a Japanese touch. The flavors were light and delicious. My favorite was the carpaccio with grapefruit sauce. The fish dish with spring onion sauce was a hit even with my friend who doesn't like fish. The tenderloin with wasabi, salt, and garlic was also excellent. The rice and pickles were tasty too. The dessert platter was satisfying. The chef was friendly and easy to talk to, and we learned that he had trained at Okumura. The price was reasonable for the quality of food. They change their menu monthly, so I look forward to visiting again.

I visited this restaurant craving for smoked firefly squid, and finally arrived. The taste of the smoked firefly squid was indeed delicious. The other menu items were also beautifully presented and had a delicious taste, showcasing the chef's sense of taste. The Amerikanu flan was also a favorite. Here is what I ate: Seasonal appetizers: Smoked firefly squid, Royal of light beans, Edamame and yuba with Tosa soy sauce jelly, Spring cabbage quiche, Hamaguri escargot butter grilled, Bamboo shoot and udo with wood sorrel sauce. Carpaccio: Seared sea bream with grapefruit. Soup: Burdock soup. Flan: Amerikanu flan. Fish dish: Tilefish and tomato tartine with tapenade cream. Meat dish: Beef fillet steak. Everything was delicious. I will definitely go back!

"I have exceeded 2000 likes! I'm so happy! Thank you everyone! It's very encouraging. Today, I had lunch at Restaurant Kan, which I knew by name but happened to pass by. I didn't have a reservation, but they welcomed me warmly. The restaurant opened in July this year, and the interior is clean. There are two lunch courses available, priced at 3000 yen and 5000 yen. The difference is that the 5000 yen course includes two amuse-bouches and two fish dishes. Today, I opted for the 3000 yen course. Even with this, you get two appetizers, soup, fish, meat, and dessert, making it a great deal. I'll eat with chopsticks. First, a seasonal assortment was served. It was almost like a pre-made dish, but visually beautiful and likely to please tourists. - Shimeji mushroom and oyster with grated radish soy sauce - Leek and sweetfish - Salmon roe and tofu skin in soy sauce - Chrysanthemum greens tofu - Chinese cabbage and deep-fried tofu simmered...I think that was it, but I'm a bit fuzzy. This Japanese-style assortment was like an elegant appetizer platter. It was fresh and different from what I usually have at restaurants. Next was the carpaccio. It featured flounder sashimi with yuzu dressing, kiwi fruit, baby corn, okra, and myoga. The summer-like vegetables on top caught my attention. Also, there was too much dressing, which overshadowed the delicate flavor of the flounder. It felt like I was eating the dressing more than the fish... The potage and bread were delicious. The fish dish was interesting. It had mashed potatoes, cod tempura, sautéed mushrooms and asparagus, topped with a fluffy green and white mixture. I enjoyed the flavors. Next was the meat dish and rice. It was beef fillet steak with condiments. The taste was okay. After the visually appealing dishes before, the arrival of the meat dish felt a bit disappointing. It could use more creativity. It came with white rice and pickles (the type I dislike, where white rice comes last in French cuisine). The dessert was an assortment. - Yogurt pudding with mandarin orange sauce - Madeleine - Japanese pear - Raspberry sorbet The descriptions of the dishes were a bit lacking, and there were still limited options for alcohol, which could be improved. It's a place I would like to bring friends or acquaintances to. Thank you for the meal."

I had a kaiseki lunch. It was priced in the 3000 yen range, and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of dishes that were served in small portions. The food had a French influence with a touch of Japanese flavors, typical of Kyoto cuisine. There were four different dessert options, which was a nice touch. The service was excellent, starting from the reservation process. The exterior of the restaurant looked like a traditional Japanese eatery, which was a bit confusing, but it had an interesting Kyoto-style design. The location is convenient, close to Kyoto City Hall, but since it's a new establishment, it may not be well-known yet. It's a hidden gem and I highly recommend it.
