One day, while wandering around Nihonbashi from the Machiya area, I stumbled upon Eitaro-do. Oh, it used to be Eitaro-do main store tea room "Setsugekka" Nihonbashi Honten. The majority of the floor is now occupied by retail items, and I was amazed. There were traditional design candies, as well as new shapes of candies, various flavors, collaboration products... so many interesting things to see! I was drawn to some items that piqued my interest, although I didn't buy them this time, I definitely want to get some next time. The packaging designs are really cute, and there are also Japanese KAWAII items, making them great for small gifts or souvenirs from Nihonbashi. Now, on this hot and humid day, I was looking for something cold to drink... Mikado Coffee was an option, but since I had some time, I decided to go to the cafe inside Eitaro-do. Most items are available for takeout, but there are also a few eat-in only menu items. I chose to dine in. The staff were friendly and welcoming. At the cafe, you order and pay at the register. They accept credit cards and various QR code payments. It's mostly self-service, but they bring your order to your table. I ordered the Eitaro-do Anmitsu Parfait for 495 yen (tax included). You can choose from Umeboshi Ame, Kuro Ame, Amaou Ame, and Honey Lemon Ame. There was a dispenser of ame next to the register. Amazing! It seems they were featured on TV as well. I chose the Kuro Ame, and later two other groups of customers also ordered the same. It was around 3:30 pm on a weekday. They had a limited edition parfait with Shine Muscat grapes from Bokuoka, Yamanashi, in collaboration with Furuta Budou Park. It looked delicious! Now, let's dig in. The Hokkaido Nemuro Soft Serve is so delicious! It's very milky. Oh, so satisfying! Unfortunately, it's starting to melt a bit, maybe because of the temperature. The other toppings include syrup-soaked mandarin orange, pineapple, white peach, and red bean paste. The red bean paste had an interesting texture, slightly firm. It was not overly sweet, very enjoyable. And if you like, they give you a bonus of karinto. I love these little surprises! This one was made with Maruyama Coffee karinto, which has a "floral aroma and chocolate-like richness from blended beans." It was delicious! It had a hint of coffee bitterness and was not too sweet. I almost wanted to buy some to take home. Highly recommended. Oh, and besides the toppings, there are also candies on top. The staff will remind you, but be careful as they are hard. If the red bean paste had been a different color, it would have added more visual appeal, but this is fine as it is. I got lost in the beautiful tin containers they had on display. I'd love to try other items on the menu next time. Thank you for the meal!
