I was attracted by the appearance and decided to purchase it. It definitely looks good for Instagram. After buying it, I was given a paper plate, and I wondered why. But then I realized that if you eat it the wrong way, it starts to fall apart quite a bit. The chocolate coating with matcha ice cream inside is very rich in flavor. I started to get tired of it pretty quickly though. I was surprised to find out later that it has over 330 calories. Very high in calories.

Today, I visited a new store in the area of Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto that opened in April. I heard that the traditional Uji tea shop "Itoh Kyuemon" also opened a new store, so I stopped by. Itoh Kyuemon is a long-established tea shop that has been around since the late Edo period, and is a traditional shop in Kyoto. The "Kiyomizu-zaka store" is located at the Y intersection where Gojo-zaka and Kiyomizu-zaka merge. This store opened on April 1, 2023. Inside the store, products using matcha were being sold. This store does not have a tea room (eat-in corner) and seems to focus mainly on selling goods. Itoh Kyuemon is known for its popsicle-like ice bars, which are popular products. It seems that the idea of turning a matcha parfait from the tea room into an ice bar started, and it has become popular on social media. There are five flavors: strawberry, matcha, sakura, tropical, and mont blanc, ranging from around 600 to 700 yen per bar. The base of the matcha ice cream is the same for all flavors, with different coatings and types of fruit. I chose the "Tropical" flavor this time. It cost 690 yen! The "Tropical" ice bar is three-dimensional with wild strawberries, mango, and pineapple. The first bite was a refreshing mango flavor that spread in the mouth. The crispy texture of the chocolate is enjoyable. Then, you can enjoy the rich taste of matcha along with the cool fruit. It has a satisfying volume, which might be nice for a hot body climbing up the slopes of Kiyomizu! I enjoyed the street sweets created by a long-established tea shop!

It's a headpiece. Matcha goes well with fruits, chocolate, white chocolate, raspberry jam, and chestnut. It was half eaten by a caterpillar, so I would like to receive it again next year (laughs).
