I came to Kyoto for the first time since my high school field trip. It's surprisingly close from Nagoya, just a quick ride on the Shinkansen. This place is called a café, but the menu is like a udon restaurant. I had a set with kitsune-don and bukkake udon. It's been a while since I had kitsune-don. The broth is sweet and the aburaage is soaked in well, very delicious. I wonder if there are any places in Nagoya where I can eat this.

Beef curry udon for 900 yen. It was a bit cold outside, so I was drawn to the sign. Recommended curry udon. Udon is recommended, but it's a cafe. The interior is completely a cafe. I wonder why they came up with this concept? The ingredients include leeks, onions, fried tofu, and meat. The leeks and fried tofu are not soggy, they are crunchy. The broth is sweet with a hint of spiciness. The udon is not the soft Kyoto style, but a firm Sanuki type. Well, it's curry udon. I'm not a big fan of curry udon, so next time I'll try the cold udon. It's convenient that they accept d payment.

I stopped by this cafe on the way from Higashiyama Station to Heian Shrine for lunch. Although the curry udon was recommended, I decided to order the oyakodon. Many customers around me seemed to be ordering either the curry udon or the oyakodon. The broth for the oyakodon has been continuously added for 30 years, which gave it a rich flavor that paired well with the egg. The amount of chicken seemed a bit small though.

Located about a 6-minute walk from Higashiyama Station on the Kyoto Municipal Subway and also about a 6-minute walk from Heian Shrine, this cafe is on the first floor of HOTEL MASTAY Jingu-michi. While it is a cafe, they also offer udon, rice bowl dishes, and alcohol, in addition to cafe menu items. Despite this, the sign outside reads "oshokujidokoro" (dining establishment). I highly recommend trying the "Black Wagyu Beef Kyoto Curry Udon" for 900 yen! It was very filling, with lots of ingredients and a flavorful broth. I couldn't stop sweating while eating it, but I managed to finish every last drop of the smooth soup. Delicious! Next time, I want to try the parent and child bowl with chicken from Kagoshima Prefecture!

I couldn't take a picture of the menu, but for lunch, I highly recommend the curry udon at this cafe. I randomly walked into this place with a really empty stomach, and it turned out to be a great choice. I ordered the shrimp tempura cold udon for 900 yen. The noodles had a smooth texture, the tempura was crispy, and the broth was delicious. The oyakodon, in particular, had a runny egg and the flavors were well-infused, making it one of the best oyakodon I've had in a while. For men, the udon and rice bowl set is a good deal. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calm and cozy. I definitely want to stop by again when I visit Heian Shrine and Nanzen-ji.

Feeling tired from walking, I was looking for a cafe to take a break and found a nice place called cafe LCM (*'▽'). It seems like they just opened and the place is very clean and cozy. I ordered an iced Earl Grey tea because it was hot outside. The aroma is wonderful and it tastes delicious. The slightly sweet tea is soothing for my tired body. They also seem to have food menu, so it looks like a good place for lunch too. Thank you for the meal.
