When I got off at Hankyu Nishinomiya Station, it suddenly started raining. I dashed into a convenience store and saw a few people buying umbrellas. I decided to visit this newly opened restaurant. I bought a ticket for the special chicken broth ramen for 1200 yen and the yukke chashu rice for 350 yen. The restaurant is run by a former staff member of a well-known chain, so my expectations were high. There are 9 seats at the counter, and each seat has a wooden tray with a metal tumbler of water, chopsticks, and a wet towel. The interior is clean and stylish, making even a sip of water taste delicious. I took a bite of the soup and wow, it was delicious chicken broth. The medium-thin noodles had a great flavor and texture. The thinly sliced chashu and bamboo shoots were tasty, but the highlight was the wontons, which were incredibly delicious. Adding black pepper oil really elevated the flavor. The yukke chashu rice was also satisfying with its well-balanced sauce. I highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you for the meal.

"KATAJIKENAI / Nishiin @katajikenai_kyoto, which was selected as one of the top 100 ramen shops on Tabelog, is run by the owner who used to work at the famous 'Chicken Soba Zakin.' The restaurant is already drawing crowds, and I arrived a bit late. The KATAJIKENAI sign is cool, the curtain is cute, and the interior is stylish. The owner's efficient and purposeful movements create a lively atmosphere, making waiting enjoyable. I ordered the 'Chicken Shoyu Soba,' 'Clam Clear Soba,' 'Tamago Kake Gohan,' and 'Chashu Yukke Gohan,' as well as the 'Chicken Shoyu Tsuke Soba' (limited to 10 servings, which sold out before noon). The Clam Clear Soba had a clear and beautiful broth with the umami of clams, clams, oysters, and scallops. The chashu, white onions, menma, marinated egg, yuzu, wood sorrel, homemade wonton, and seaweed, as well as the clam oil from oysters and scallops, were all flavorful and delicious. The basil oil on the side also added a nice touch. The Chicken Shoyu Soba looked deliciously creamy. Don't forget to try the side dish of Tamago Kake Gohan with bonito flakes and special sauce. #KyotoRamen #KyotoGourmet #KATAJIKENAI #RamenInstagram #NoodleEncounter #Ramen"

A supernova has appeared. This time, I tried the Kaiseki Soba and Chashu Yukke Don. The soup was a surprise with just one sip. It's like the shellfish is right there in the soup. The soup is very light yet rich. It goes really well with the thin noodles. Adding oil halfway through changes the flavor significantly, but it's delicious. The donburi is also tasty, but the ramen here is exceptional.

Special clam clear soup soba for 1200 yen. Chashu yukke rice for 350 yen. Park at the coin parking lot to the east of the shop. On a weekday, arrived 10 minutes before opening and there were already 10 people in line, couldn't get in on the first round. Got in on the second try after about 30 minutes. Served in about 10 minutes. The dish includes boiled egg, thinly sliced chashu, wonton, seaweed, and menma. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles. Basil oil for flavor variation. It was just okay until I added the basil oil, then it became my favorite soba. I wish they would make a Basil Soba. The yukke rice was a bit lacking in flavor. If the previous customer comes out of the shop before you are called in, you will be asked to wait outside until you are called in. It was hot.

I visited this ramen shop for the first time and it was really delicious. I had the clam ramen and it was light and satisfying. The flavor was simple and it felt like it was nourishing my body. I will definitely come back to try something else next time.

I thought I would wait until things calmed down a bit after the grand opening, as it was already a popular spot. They call it the "era of 1000 yen ramen," but personally, I prefer ramen to be priced at up to 850 yen, so the slight increase to 950 yen made me hesitate. I was invited to go two hours after eating cup noodles for lunch, saying I wasn't hungry. I complained a bit as we waited in line for two people. The rich aroma of the broth wafted outside the shop. After a short wait, we were seated, and the owner apologized for making us wait in the heat. Despite the heat, that one sentence made me feel cooler. I ordered the clam clear soup, which I ended up slurping up every last drop of, including the soup. It was incredibly delicious. I can definitely pay 950 yen for this! When we left, the owner said, "Sorry for making you wait in the heat. We look forward to seeing you again." It was nice of them to acknowledge us like that. Yes, I will definitely come back. This time, I vowed to try the chicken white broth and then headed to the public bath on my bicycle to sweat it out. If it's 870 yen, it's definitely a score of over 4 points.

Second visit. The line was longer than last time, and it was hot that day, so it was tough haha. This time I had the chicken broth soba. It was consistently delicious. It wasn't extremely rich, but had a good umami flavor. I had the dipping noodles last time, and both are tasty, but personally I prefer the dipping noodles. Next time, I'll come for the clam broth. It seems to be getting more and more popular, so it looks like I'll always have to wait in line. But that's just how it is when something is so delicious.

I arrived at 11:20 and there was already a line of about 10 people. I waited for 30 minutes and finally got a seat. The interior of the restaurant was stylish and had a calming color scheme, with only counter seats for about 9 people. I ordered the chicken and clam ramen, which came with oils for flavor variations. Both dishes had a rich soup base and thin noodles that complemented each other perfectly, making them delicious. The owner and staff were friendly, and I had a great time there.

It was delicious and the staff's service was fantastic! I arrived around 2:00 PM on a Saturday and there was a line of about 6-7 people. Inside, there is a counter with seating for about 10 people. It was my first visit, so I ordered the special clam soup. A female staff member kindly asked, "The char siu is rare, would you like it seared?" She was considerate of the fact that I am pregnant. Such amazing service...! I was already determined to come back. The special clam soup had a powerful clam broth with bitterness, umami, and was delicious!! The noodles were thin, with normal firmness, and the taste changed with the basil oil added, a unique and delicious flavor not often found in ramen! Many other customers also ordered the clam soup. I definitely want to try the chicken broth on my next visit. While eating, the owner even came over to thank me for waiting in the heat and to ask if everything was okay with the taste. The owner's friendly and kind personality was wonderful. The excellent service and soup make me want to go back again. I will definitely visit again.笑The photo attached shows the char siu being seared, so it looks different from others. Normally, even with rare char siu, it looks better.笑

I recently visited this place after hearing that it had just opened. It was my first time visiting, and I had planned on having ramen, but they still had a limited edition tsukemen (dipping noodles) available, so I decided to try that in case it becomes popular and hard to get in the future. It was the right choice. It was incredibly delicious. I loved the dipping sauce. The flavor was great even when I added some chili oil for a different taste. The restaurant doesn't have many seats, so when I arrived around 11:30, there was already a line. It's a popular place, so it's best to be prepared to wait in line.

This is a stylish restaurant with a grey-themed interior that both men and women can enjoy. The clear yet rich clam broth is delicious, and the toppings of boiled egg, wonton, bamboo shoots, seaweed, chashu, green onions, and yuzu each have their own unique flavors, making it a fun dish to enjoy.

On Wednesday, August 30, 2023, when I arrived a little after 6:00 PM, there were 6 people waiting outside. It was unexpected, but I lined up and waited. It took about 15 minutes until we were seated inside the restaurant, so the wait was quite long. I think this was the longest I've waited at a ramen shop in Kyoto recently. I bought the special clam broth ramen at the ticket machine and sat at the designated seat. It only took about 5 minutes until the ramen was served. The clam broth with oysters was strong but not bad at all! The flavor of the broth was delicious. The texture of the noodles was also good and went well with the ramen. The wontons were delicious too! It's no wonder this place is popular. It feels like another great ramen shop has opened in Kyoto.

A trendy ramen shop recently opened in Nishijin, Kyoto. The exterior looks so stylish that you wouldn't think it's a ramen shop at first glance. The owner of this shop seems to come from the popular brand "鶏soba座銀" under the "銀の葡萄" group, known for operating various dining establishments. The menu includes three types of ramen: ・貝清湯soba (Hokkaido Kitahonami) ・鶏白湯soba (Hokkaido Haruyokoi) ・鶏白湯つけsoba (Limited to 10 servings, Mie Ayahikari) Each type of ramen uses different types of wheat noodles, showcasing their attention to detail. The reviewer ordered the 貝清湯soba (950 yen) which is made with Shimane Lake Shinji clams as the main ingredient, along with clams, scallops, and oysters boiled in water to create a clear soup with a surprising depth of clam flavor and umami. The accompanying basil oil allows for additional flavor variations, making it a delightful bowl of ramen.

I had the "Special Clam Clear Soup". It came with chashu, menma, boiled egg, wonton, and seaweed for 1200 yen. The soup was gentle yet had a strong saltiness. I added basil olive oil halfway through and enjoyed a different flavor. I went around 11 am on a weekday and there were already about 10 people lined up.

I came here for the first time. It was incredibly beautiful and amazing. Next time, I plan to try the chicken ramen. It really warmed my body and soul. Thank you for the delicious meal. I appreciate all the ingredients in this world. I can feel the power overflowing as I eat. Delicious food is calling out to me.

Lunch at "麺逢 KATAJIKENAI," which opened on 8/22, was my first visit. The restaurant is run by the owner of Osaka's "鶏soba座銀." When I arrived at 12 o'clock, there were about 20 people waiting, and I was able to enter the restaurant about an hour later. The interior of the restaurant is stylish and chic. I tried the "特製貝清湯soba" and the "チャーシューユッケご飯." The soup, which is concentrated with the umami of shellfish, was incredibly delicious. The clear soup made from shellfish extract features mainly "しじみ" from Lake Shinji in Shimane Prefecture, as well as scallops, clams, and oysters. Adding "basil oil" for a flavor change was also delicious. I finished the soup completely. The straight noodles, rare shoulder loin chashu, menma, and homemade wonton were all delicious. The "チャーシューユッケご飯" with its perfectly balanced sauce was also very tasty. It was a delicious meal. Thank you.

The restaurant, which opened on July 22nd, caught my attention with a menu item I didn't try during the pre-opening reception, so I decided to revisit. Despite aiming to avoid peak hours, I arrived around 2:30 pm to find a line forming outside the restaurant. I purchased a ticket for the "Special Chicken White Broth Soba" (1,200 yen) and waited at the counter seat for my bowl. The bowl was filled with chashu, wonton, menma, seasoned egg, seaweed, and shiso leaves, accompanied by a container of "Black Pepper Oil" for flavor enhancement. The chicken-based white broth soup was finely whipped, offering a smooth and creamy texture with a rich depth from the chicken oil. The noodles, using the straight thin noodles from Menya Tae, blended well with the soup, providing a smooth and satisfying slurp. The wonton had a bouncy skin filled with flavorful filling, while the menma was thickly sliced yet tender. The rare pork shoulder chashu was moist and brought out the essence of the meat. Adding the homemade pepper oil halfway through the noodles enhanced the flavor, making the soup's richness stand out even more. While I found the "Clam Dashi Clear Broth Soba" from the reception to be of high quality, I also thought that the Chicken White Broth Soba was a very delicious ramen option.

Today's dinner was at "Men Ai KATAJIKENAI" in Nishikyo. I came here because they just had their grand opening yesterday. I arrived around 18:40, but there was already a line of about 10 people waiting. It seems like this place is well-known. I ordered the "Clam Clear Soup Soba" and "Extra Noodles" from the ticket machine. It took about 40 minutes of waiting before my bowl arrived. First, I tried the soup. It was made with clam broth and seasoned with salt. The broth was extracted from various types of clams like scallops, shijimi clams, asari clams, and oysters. It was delicious. The noodles were thin straight noodles with a firm and chewy texture. The toppings included sliced rare chashu, square-cut menma reminiscent of "Barley Dawn", white negi, and yuzu peel. The chashu had a mild and sweet flavor. The only thing that bothered me was the strong fragrance of the hand soap in the restroom, which might affect the taste of the delicious ramen. The owner used to work at "Chicken Soba ZAGIN" and learned about clam broth on his own. Thank you for the meal. I will definitely come back again.

Today, I went to a ramen restaurant that opened in Nishijin, Kyoto.
KATAJIKENAI is a new ramen shop opened by the owner of the popular "Torisoba-za Gin" in Osaka. It opened on August 22, 2023, and there was a line on the opening day.
The restaurant has a modern atmosphere with an open kitchen where you can see the process of draining the noodles and plating the dishes. They have a ticket machine for ordering.
The two signature ramen dishes are "Torisoba" and "Kaishio Soba", with a limited edition "Torisoba Tsuke Soba" available for only 10 servings. The basic ramen costs 950 yen, while the special topping version costs 1,200 yen.
On the day I visited, the "Kaishio Soba" and "Torisoba Tsuke Soba" were already sold out, so I tried the "Torisoba".
The Torisoba comes with homemade black pepper oil for flavor variation. The creamy foam on the soup is a unique feature. It includes two slices of rare chashu, two pieces of menma, and arare red. The smooth and creamy Torisoba soup is rich in chicken flavor and delicious. The medium-thick straight noodles paired well with the soup. The menma had a strong flavor from the sauce, and the large rare chashu was tender and moist.
I added the black pepper oil halfway through the meal for a different taste. The aroma of black pepper added a sharpness to the flavor. I finished the whole bowl, including the soup.
The owner seemed busy but still friendly and approachable.

A fashionable ramen shop opened along Shijo Street on 8/22!! The exterior and interior are very stylish and beautiful with indirect lighting. They only have counter seats and operate on a ticket system. I tried the chicken white broth dipping soba. The noodles had a great texture and were delicious! Dipping them in the chicken white broth, it was rich and creamy, absolutely delicious. The flavor was not boring, and you can also change it up with the included oil. The bamboo shoots were soft and had a nice texture, each one was delicious! This place is sure to become famous! I will definitely go back again.

2023 New Store Development Chronicle #177
On August 22nd, "Noodle Encounter KATAJIKENAI" opened in Nishii, Kyoto. The owner is from the "Chicken Soba Zagi" restaurant. The exterior of the store gives off a vibe similar to the "Silver Grape" group of stores. I ordered the limited 10 servings per day Chicken White Broth Dipping Soba for 1100 yen. I usually prefer thick noodles for dipping, but I also enjoy this type of dipping soba. It reminded me of the "Ramenya Shimizu" (Tokyo, Nishi-Shinjuku Gochome) I wrote about this spring, which is ranked second nationwide on Tabelog for its kelp water dipping soba.
