Hello, this is Curry Ojisan (Uncle Curry) ( ̄Д ̄)ノ This time, I'll be introducing a very spicy curry!! Located around Shijo-Karasuma area, behind Daimaru, is #Shichisan Curry (612 Nishi-uenocho, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, Felice Shijo 5F). The restaurant is situated on a street filled with eateries, near the entrance to Nishiki Market. Look for the red vertical signboard and head to the 4th floor, then use the staircase to reach the 5th floor, where you'll be welcomed by funky mannequins. Inside, there are about 6 counter seats and maybe a couple of private rooms. A funky mannequin with an afro hairstyle playing the guitar can be seen on the hanging monitor. I took a seat at the counter near it and checked the menu. This time, I chose the classic Black Chicken, Pork Vindaloo, and the limited-time 5 kinds of mushroom Mustard Shrimp Curry set with extra rice for 1400 yen, plus an additional 50 yen for rice upsizing and pink potato salad doubling. Let's see what kind of curry will be served. On the table, there were cayenne pepper and homemade green chili peppers, and various spice containers were opened in front of me. It seems like the other customers' curries are being prepared right there! The aroma of spices is really strong, making me crave it more and more. After a while, the All Variety Set (with extra rice and doubled potato salad) for 1500 yen arrived. The curry looked funky and appetizing! The rice was served in blue and yellow versions. I wonder why it's colored blue! First, I tried the Black Chicken, which was very spicy. I added coriander and lemon salt to enhance the flavor. Next was the Pork Vindaloo, which didn't leave a strong impression as I had the spicy Black Chicken first. Lastly, the 5 kinds of mushroom Mustard Shrimp Curry, which had a Japanese-style taste with mushrooms and shrimp. The pink potato salad is a common item in Kyoto. It has a balanced acidity and is a good item for flavor variation. I also tried various pickles, and towards the end, I added some homemade chili peppers on the table. It had a hint of sweetness and acidity besides the spiciness. The curry was delicious, and I couldn't stop eating despite the spiciness. After the meal, I received a tiny sweet fennel mint-flavored sugar cube on a spoon to refresh my mouth. I had a pleasant chat with the master of the restaurant and learned more about curry. This was the spiciest curry place I've been to, and it was also a funky place. I would love to visit again when they have new menu items. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!! P.S. I even got a sticker from the master, thank you very much. ( ゚д゚) Wait, did he say it's like eating and going to the sauna at the same time at Tabel Sauna by Shichisan Curry? I see, it makes you sweat after eating (๑╹ω╹๑ )

Today, I had some errands in the city, so I visited Shichisankare-san, where I had been wanting to go but couldn't because they are closed on Sundays. I went on a weekday at lunchtime and there were 2 groups of customers ahead of me. The restaurant has a counter with 8 seats and 2 tables for 4 people each. I ordered the "3 kinds of curry + extra coriander" set which included Black Chicken, Pork Vindaloo, and the monthly special curry (Ginger Fish Curry with basil Genovese sauce). The default rice options are white rice and half turmeric rice. The rice was cooked slightly firm and paired well with the light and soupy spiced curries. The spices were so complex that it was hard to describe the taste of each curry, but they were all incredibly delicious! Adding a bit of the lemon paste that came with the Black Chicken curry enhanced the acidity and freshness. The Pork Vindaloo had diced vegetables in Yamagata dashi, providing a nice texture, and the pink peppercorns added a unique flavor that complemented the curry well. The Ginger Fish Curry with basil Genovese was fragrant and refreshing. All 4 types of pickles (Achaar) were also delicious! The Chili Con Carne was spicier than the curries, leaving a lingering heat in the mouth, but it was tasty. Adding extra coriander was a good choice, but I should have gotten the rice in a larger portion as well. If you ever crave spiced curry in Karasuma, this place is a must-visit! Thank you for the meal!

3 kinds of Spicy Curry for 1550 yen. All 3 were delicious and had a generous amount of spices. The quality is quite high. The rice is Japanese rice, cooked in 2 different ways to make it firm, which goes well with the curry. While Japanese rice is tasty, it would be even better if Basmati rice was an option, in my personal opinion. For Spicy Curry or South Indian curry in general, it's best to mix it all together while eating. I mixed and enjoyed each curry thoroughly, and the flavors combined well. It was satisfying! It might be enough for women, but adult men might want to go for the larger size. Thank you for the meal!

I ordered three types of curry. They looked visually appealing and had a variety of ingredients. The spices were very flavorful and I enjoyed them. The person working there was busy handling everything alone. I got a good deal this time because I used my points.

Located in Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto, this curry restaurant also serves as a bar. Situated on the north side of Kyoto Daimaru, the location is top-notch, although it is on the top floor of a building accessed by an elevator. The place is colorful and stylish, with a convenient all-day operation. I felt a bit awkward visiting alone, but it was not during peak hours, so it was fine. I chose a combination of two curries - Black Chicken Curry and the July limited edition Sichuan-style Keema Curry, priced at 1350 yen. The colors of the curries were distinct and visually appealing. Both dishes had a strong spice flavor, with the chicken curry being fragrant and the Sichuan-style Keema curry having a noticeable chili heat. I found myself sweating quite a bit while eating. The water was not self-serve, but the owner kindly poured it for me. The accompanying achaar was also delicious and showed a sense of taste. Considering the location and the overall experience, I think the prices are reasonable.

I have been coming here every month since my first visit. The unique and creative dishes are truly addictive. The Sichuan-style tantan keema and pork bindaloo are delicious, especially with the Yamagata broth. Congratulations on your 3rd anniversary, I always look forward to coming here. Thank you for the furikake spice.

The location of the restaurant is in a building, so it takes courage to go up. An afro greets you at the entrance. The curry packs a punch. Once you climb the stairs, you are right at the restaurant. I chose two types of curry. They were delicious. It was the curry I was hoping for. I forgot to ask for extra spice at the end! I should have asked for more spice.

I found an interesting restaurant where there were many non-Japanese customers inside. It felt like I was overseas, which was nice. I ordered my favorite dish, Pork Bintalu, and the spiciness was perfect. I am full now, but I ate a bit too much and couldn't finish it. What a waste!

Head to the 5th floor of the building along the road on the north side of Daimaru to find "Shichisan Curry" (73 Curry). This curry shop transforms into a bar called "Afro" in the evening, and you'll notice a mannequin wearing an afro wig in front of the shop. The curry here is generously spiced, giving a warm sensation to your body, hence the catchy slogan "eating sauna". There are three types of curry available: 1. Black Chicken Curry 2. Pork Vindaloo 3. March Limited Cherry Shrimp-scented Chicken Thigh and Nanohana Spring Curry. You can order a combination of these three curries. The curry served has a spicy appearance, similar to Mujara curry. The Black Chicken curry tastes delicious, especially when paired with homemade lemon salt. The Pork Vindaloo with plum shiso butter is also flavorful. The chicken thigh curry is also tasty. Lastly, mix all the curries together and enjoy the burst of flavors. The addition of cilantro adds a nice touch. The spices will surely increase your appetite, so you might find the portion of rice a bit small. Next time, consider ordering a combination of the three curries with extra rice, extra spiciness, and extra cilantro. Finally, enjoy a small amount of spiced sugar-coated sweets to end your meal on a cozy note.

Monday 18:20, I arrived at Shichisan Curry. There was a sign on the door saying the owner was out. I decided to wait a bit. At 18:38, the owner returned and I followed him upstairs into the restaurant. I ordered the 2-type combination for 1,400 yen, which included Pork Vindaloo on Maple Nut Cream and the January limited edition Salmon Curry with plenty of toppings, accompanied by four side dishes. At 18:49, the curry arrived. It was a unique presentation of curry that I had never seen before. I came specifically for the Pork Vindaloo, and although it was a bit different from what I've had before, it was delicious. The meat was tender, and the aroma of the sake lees was delightful. The combination of Japanese dashi and homemade seven spice was amazing, with a pleasant tingling sensation in the mouth and a complex umami flavor. The lingering freshness of the coriander was delightful. I think I'm hooked on this. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I often see the vibrant visuals of "ai-gake curry" in Kansai gourmet magazines and SNS, also known as "THE spice curry". It looks so delicious, but I couldn't resist any longer just looking at the photos. So, I visited the restaurant today. The restaurant is located behind Kyoto Daimaru, but it's a bit hard to find. It's on the 5th floor of a narrow building, and the elevator stops at the 4th floor, so you have to take the stairs to the 5th floor like a dungeon. However, there is a sign in front of the building on the 1st floor, so you'll find it if you pay attention while walking. At the entrance of the restaurant, an afro mannequin welcomes you. The interior is decorated with neon lights and has a stylish atmosphere. Today, I decided to order the recommended two kinds of ai-gake curry (1300 yen) with extra rice (100 yen) that I saw in the photos. I chose the black chicken and pork vindaloo curries. They asked if I wanted cilantro on top. After a short wait, the "table sauna" arrived! The concept of this curry is a "table sauna", and as a fan of public baths, I was intrigued by the concept. I expected it to be very spicy based on the concept, but the result was a pleasantly spicy sauna experience. The black chicken curry was slightly spicier than the pork vindaloo, but the aroma of the spices was more prominent, so the spiciness was not the main focus. There was an option to add extra spiciness as a topping, so those who like a higher heat level might want to try that. Mixing the different flavors while eating, I found it very enjoyable and before I knew it, I had finished the curry at a fast pace. It was my first time trying it, and it was delicious! The aftertaste was also good, with the spiciness and umami lingering. They also served a bit of sweet spice as a palate cleanser after the meal. The only thing I regretted was not adding the egg topping, considering both taste and visual appeal. Well, I'll remember that for next time. On my way out, I received a sticker from the restaurant. The restaurant, not only in terms of taste but also in terms of visual appeal and communication, has a very clear and stylish website. A restaurant that pays attention to detail and communicates effectively is wonderful. The service from the staff was polite and pleasant. This time, I tried the regular two kinds of curry, but they also had limited-time menu items, so I definitely want to try those next time. Thank you for the meal!

- Black chicken with lemon salt from the home farm - Pork Vindaloo with maple nut cream, served with two types of sauce and an onsen egg topping - There are various side dishes that make the dish look visually appealing, but each one adds a nice accent and is delicious! - Vindaloo with maple cream? It may sound strange, but when eaten together, it tastes great. The lemon salt added in halfway through also complemented the dish perfectly. - I wish there was a bit more, I enjoyed it more than I had imagined.

I finally made it to Shichisan Curry. Located on the 5th floor of a building, but the elevator only goes up to the 4th floor... so you have to take the stairs to get there, which adds to the fun secret base vibe. I arrived right at the 11:30 am opening time and there was only one other customer ahead of me. I ordered the Black Chicken Curry and the Mustard Shrimp Curry with 5 types of mushrooms. It took a little while for the food to be served, but when it arrived, the curry looked beautiful! I took a bite of the Black Chicken Curry and felt like it needed a bit more punch, but when I mixed in the lemon salt that came as a side, it became delicious! The combination with cilantro was also fantastic! Personally, I wished there was a bit more rice, but I think it's just right for women. They are currently selling sauna T-shirts to eat in the restaurant! Thank you for the meal!

At Daimaru Urate, try the 73 Curry. The illustration of a sauna and curry old man is catchy. The casual interior with high stools is inviting. The neon sign adds to the nighttime atmosphere. The 73 plate features a shrimp curry with five types of mushrooms and mustard, offering a unique and delicious flavor with plump shrimp and a rich mustard kick.

It was worth climbing the stairs as the food was very spicy and the side dishes were delicious. I also received a sticker on my way out. Thank you for the meal!

About a 10-minute walk from Karasuma Station. Had lunch here today. The restaurant is on the 5th floor of a building, but the elevator only goes up to the 4th floor. You have to take the stairs from the 4th floor to the 5th floor. The menu consists of curry only, with a choice between a single type or a combination. I ordered the single type plate for 730 yen with black chicken curry. Let's dig in! The curry is quite light, similar to Sri Lankan curry. It's not very spicy, more on the side of strong spices. However, in terms of richness, it may not have a strong impact. The rice is a blend of jasmine rice. Overall, it was a satisfying meal! The restaurant is quite inconspicuous and has a hidden gem feel. Personally, I would have been happier if there was a bit more rice served.

The building is 5 floors high. There is an elevator up to the 4th floor (lol). You have to take the stairs for the last floor. The curry seemed to have mild spices at first, but then a gradual spiciness kicks in making you sweat. However, it lacks a punch. I ordered it with naan, but the flavors didn't stand out much, which was disappointing.

I arrived at around 13:00 and was seated immediately. Location: 2 minutes walk from Hankyu Karasuma Station, look for the red background Indian sign on the fourth floor with an elevator up to the fifth floor. Seating: Table and counter seats available. Serving time: Approximately 3 minutes. Menu: Choose from 3 types of curry for around 1000-1200 yen. I tried the Salmon and Smoked Broccoli White Curry and the Black Chicken curry. It was my first time trying a combination of two curries and I asked for a recommendation. Both were delicious with a nice spicy kick, and the presentation was great! My only complaint is that the bowls are shallow, so the flavors mix too quickly. I would give it 4 stars. The condiments labeled "eat sauna" were also tasty. At night, it turns into a bar, and as a solo female diner, I was a bit nervous because the interior is not visible from the outside. However, the staff were kind and the food was delicious, so if you are in Kyoto, be sure to visit. You can also get a sticker as a souvenir from the restaurant!

While donating blood, I happened to come across a suspicious curry restaurant near the blood donation center that was featured in a magazine. I've had a positive experience with delicious spicy curry in the past, so I decided to recharge my energy after donating blood. The restaurant had a mysterious atmosphere from the moment I walked in, which raised my expectations. Apparently, they also operate as a karaoke bar at night. I ordered a craft cola and chicken lemon curry. As I waited, I noticed a sticker of a sexy photographer named Noriemon, who is a curry enthusiast. It felt like meeting a minor celebrity. The craft cola had a unique taste with a strong cardamom flavor, making it intriguing and tempting. The curry was filled with crunchy vegetables, intense spices, and whole leaves, topped with cilantro. It was very delicious. The curry (with Taiwanese boiled egg topping) and craft cola cost only 1500 yen, which I found to be very affordable. Spice curry is usually expensive everywhere else, so this price seemed reasonable to me. I received a sticker as a gift when I paid the bill. I definitely want to come back to try different curries and colas. The restaurant is worth visiting again, maybe even at night. The secret password is "eating sauna."

Visited in April 2021. Upon revisiting, "Shichisan Curry" is located on the 5th floor of "Felice Shijo" on the north side of Daimaru in front of Karasuma Station. During the day, it is a spice curry restaurant, but at night it turns into a bar with all-you-can-drink options. The menu had a limited-time offer, so I decided to try the pork vindaloo with an extra side of rice. For those who don't like cilantro, you can ask for it to be removed. The curry had a complex spice flavor and as I ate, I started to sweat a bit from the perfect level of spiciness, almost like eating in a sauna. Towards the end, I was sweating even more. The rice portion, even in the large size, was not too much, so I recommend it for those who eat normally. The curry had a bit of a soup curry feel, but it was quite filling. There was a seasoning item with paprika on the side of the bowl for flavor variation. Recently, spice curry restaurants have been increasing in Kyoto, which is great news. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Located in the same building as Temomin in Daimaru Umeda, this restaurant is on the 5th floor, but the elevator only goes up to the 4th floor. Once on the 4th floor, you will find a glass door that leads to a staircase. Finally, you will reach the restaurant, which has a unique atmosphere with Western music videos playing. For 1000 yen, you can get a plate with a choice of 3 curries, with the option to add 200 yen for a combination. On this day, we ordered the Black Chicken Lemon Curry and the limited edition Red Beet Curry. The plate automatically comes with a variety of toppings. The curries pack a punch with spices and the flavors are rich. Mixing the ingredients and curries together creates a delicious blend. The Red Beet Curry has a tomato-like acidity which I enjoyed, while the chicken in the Black Curry was well-seasoned and tasty. To finish, a colorful mint-flavored palate cleanser reminiscent of Nepal is served. Overall, I was impressed and would love to visit again.
