Hello, this is Curry Ojisan (Uncle Curry) ( ̄Д ̄)ノ This time, I'll be introducing a very spicy curry!! Located around Shijo-Karasuma area, behind Daimaru, is #Shichisan Curry (612 Nishi-uenocho, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto City, Felice Shijo 5F). The restaurant is situated on a street filled with eateries, near the entrance to Nishiki Market. Look for the red vertical signboard and head to the 4th floor, then use the staircase to reach the 5th floor, where you'll be welcomed by funky mannequins. Inside, there are about 6 counter seats and maybe a couple of private rooms. A funky mannequin with an afro hairstyle playing the guitar can be seen on the hanging monitor. I took a seat at the counter near it and checked the menu. This time, I chose the classic Black Chicken, Pork Vindaloo, and the limited-time 5 kinds of mushroom Mustard Shrimp Curry set with extra rice for 1400 yen, plus an additional 50 yen for rice upsizing and pink potato salad doubling. Let's see what kind of curry will be served. On the table, there were cayenne pepper and homemade green chili peppers, and various spice containers were opened in front of me. It seems like the other customers' curries are being prepared right there! The aroma of spices is really strong, making me crave it more and more. After a while, the All Variety Set (with extra rice and doubled potato salad) for 1500 yen arrived. The curry looked funky and appetizing! The rice was served in blue and yellow versions. I wonder why it's colored blue! First, I tried the Black Chicken, which was very spicy. I added coriander and lemon salt to enhance the flavor. Next was the Pork Vindaloo, which didn't leave a strong impression as I had the spicy Black Chicken first. Lastly, the 5 kinds of mushroom Mustard Shrimp Curry, which had a Japanese-style taste with mushrooms and shrimp. The pink potato salad is a common item in Kyoto. It has a balanced acidity and is a good item for flavor variation. I also tried various pickles, and towards the end, I added some homemade chili peppers on the table. It had a hint of sweetness and acidity besides the spiciness. The curry was delicious, and I couldn't stop eating despite the spiciness. After the meal, I received a tiny sweet fennel mint-flavored sugar cube on a spoon to refresh my mouth. I had a pleasant chat with the master of the restaurant and learned more about curry. This was the spiciest curry place I've been to, and it was also a funky place. I would love to visit again when they have new menu items. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!! P.S. I even got a sticker from the master, thank you very much. ( ゚д゚) Wait, did he say it's like eating and going to the sauna at the same time at Tabel Sauna by Shichisan Curry? I see, it makes you sweat after eating (๑╹ω╹๑ )
