I was also interested in trying the Kyoto-style monjayaki with salt flavor, but I ended up ordering the classic okonomiyaki with pork and eggs. It took a while for the food to arrive, probably because the restaurant was crowded. The okonomiyaki was cooked on the kitchen grill, not on the table grill, so the space was limited and it took longer as they were cooking other dishes for different tables. There were mayonnaise, bonito flakes, seaweed, and chili powder on the table. The okonomiyaki was slightly burnt.

I was looking forward to trying Kyoto-style okonomiyaki and it did not disappoint. The batter is flavored with dashi broth, and even with less sauce, it was delicious. It's a perfect choice for those who prefer a lighter taste. I was happy to find okonomiyaki that I can enjoy at any age. I will definitely go back.

repo__________________I used it for lunch this time ✨ When you come to Kansai, you have to have okonomiyaki, right?! That was the vibe we went with ✨ We went to a shop at Kyoto Station, and it was quite crowded and busy! First, the crucial okonomiyaki!! The staff actually cook it and bring it to the hot plate for you! The taste is super delicious! The sauce is so good when mixed in! As for the monjayaki, the staff cooks it right in front of you! The impact is strong with the mozzarella cheese placed on top! It's amazing when slightly burnt and mixed with the cheese to eat! By the way, the rolled omelette is also super delicious! The dashi flavor is perfect and the umami overflows from the inside, which is the best part! Definitely give it a try, everyone! Thank you for the meal!!

We chose okonomiyaki as the final meal of our trip to Kyoto (lol). The restaurant had a 2-hour time limit, but it worked out perfectly for our schedule before catching the bullet train. They made monjayaki at the table, while yakisoba and okonomiyaki were brought to us already cooked, so we were able to enjoy delicious dishes without any mistakes. The restaurant quickly filled up after we arrived, and an elderly foreign couple sat at the table next to us. They were checking for vegan options when ordering, although there didn't seem to be any on the menu. The staff patiently explained each dish and took their order. Truly international, as expected in Kyoto ⛩️.

Today's lunch was Kyoto-style salt monjayaki "Kokoyanen Deluxe" and the classic okonomiyaki "Kokoyanen Deluxe" Tamajin. It was my first time trying monjayaki and the balance of Kyoto-style dashi and salt was exquisite. It goes perfectly with Ichiban Shibori beer. The sizzling sound on the iron plate was amazing!

Today, I visited the okonomiyaki restaurant called "Okonomiyaki wa koko yan" at Kyoto Porta in front of Kyoto Station. I ordered the Mix Tamagoyaki with pork, squid, and shrimp for 1080 yen, and also a highball for 530 yen. The okonomiyaki had plenty of cabbage and large pieces of ingredients, which is my favorite type. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I wanted to say "Okonomiyaki is the best here"♪ I went to a flour-based food shop called "Okonomiyaki wa koko yan Kyoto Poruta-ten" near Kyoto Station in Kyoto Prefecture to try their Tonpeiyaki♪ The shop was crowded, with a waiting time of 2 groups. After getting a waiting ticket, I ended up waiting behind 6 more groups. 15 minutes later, I was seated. I ordered Okonomiyaki Butatama for 930 yen, Yakisoba Mix with extra large portion for 1,080 yen, and Tonpeiyaki for 580 yen. Everything was delicious, but my favorite was the Tonpeiyaki! It had a fluffy texture with plenty of egg and was really tasty!☆ Thank you for the meal☆

I was a little worried because the reviews were not great, but the dishes I ordered were all delicious. The yakisoba had plenty of ingredients and was satisfyingly large. The sauce was a bit strong, but it was enough to satisfy my yakisoba cravings. The okonomiyaki was fluffy with lots of ingredients and was delicious! It was nice to be able to adjust the toppings myself at the end! Thank you for the meal.

Today, I was in the mood for okonomiyaki, so I decided to go to a new place called "Kokoyan" in Kyoto Porta. I arrived as soon as they opened at 11 o'clock and was seated right next to the kitchen. I ordered the Mixed Okonomiyaki and Tomato Salad set for 1180 yen (tax included), which felt like a good deal. If ordered separately, the Mixed Okonomiyaki would be 1080 yen and the Tomato Salad would be 480 yen, totaling 1560 yen, but the set was only 1180 yen. The Tomato Salad arrived first, followed by the okonomiyaki. The okonomiyaki contained pork, shrimp, and squid, and the batter was soft. It was a soft and slightly sweet okonomiyaki that was so tender it almost fell apart when scooped with a spatula. The okonomiyaki came with a variety of sauces, mayonnaise, bonito flakes, and seaweed for customization. The unlimited bonito flakes and seaweed were a nice touch. I made sure to check for shrimp and squid while eating. The okonomiyaki was delicious. The Tomato Salad had a dressing that didn't overpower the natural flavors of the ingredients. Next time, I want to try their monjayaki.

Today, I had lunch at an okonomiyaki restaurant in the underground shopping area Porta at Kyoto Station.
The restaurant is called "Okonomiyaki Wa Koko Yanen," which has a unique name. It seems to be a restaurant originating from Kyoto, and this particular branch at Kyoto Porta opened on March 26th. The interior of the restaurant is brand new, with a teppan (iron griddle) at each table.
Orders are placed using a touch panel system. The staff cooks the monjayaki right in front of you on the teppan. I decided to try the recommended mentaiko (spicy cod roe) and cheese monjayaki, which the staff said they would draw a picture with mayonnaise on.
The monjayaki with mentaiko and cheese was delicious. The staff skillfully created a picture of Anpanman's face with mayonnaise. It is recommended to eat from the outer edges with a small spatula, starting with the crispy bits. The combination of cheese, hot onions, and the savory flavor of Kansai-style okonomiyaki sauce made the dish very tasty.
Overall, I enjoyed the hot teppan-cooked Kyoto-style monjayaki with crispy edges and the flavorful mentaiko.

I visited around 5:30 pm on a weekday. I was seated right away, but even though it was early on a weekday, more than half of the seats were already taken. I ordered the Source Monja with Mentaiko for 1280 yen. The sweet dough packs a punch, a bit worried about the high salt content, but it was delicious with lots of Mentaiko and chewy mochi. I also added the pork topping for 110 yen. The sweet and fluffy rich pork was great. I skipped the mayonnaise topping, but it was still delicious. Those who ordered mayonnaise had Doraemon drawn on it.

It was crowded at GW. It was a good decision to make a reservation. I tried two different types of monjayaki, and both were made right in front of me by the staff with exquisite results. I had never tried one with a whole camembert inside before, but it was delicious. The opening time was good, and we were able to have a smooth meal, making it a great start to our trip.

The ingredients are sourced from Kyoto. The freshly grilled steak prepared by the staff was delicious and satisfying. The taste was excellent and the prices were reasonable. Overall, the cost-performance ratio was high.

Okonomiyaki mix, sandy butter, soy sauce, tonpei-yaki, salt yakisoba, pork - all were delicious in a standard way. Tonpei-yaki was the best.

During my trip to Kyoto, I often had flour-based dishes for lunch. I had enjoyed them at Yamamoto Manbo the day before, but I found a similar place that had opened in the same location. The seating was private and cozy, which I liked. Although I'm not particularly picky about flour-based dishes, the food was quite delicious. Ordering was easy with a tablet, and I could customize the taste using the condiments on the table. It's conveniently located near the station, so it's a great place to stop by when buying souvenirs. I will definitely visit again.
