I ordered mitarashi dango and strawberry an dango for a snack ^_^ The mitarashi dango was a bit hard, not what I expected, but the strawberry an dango had strawberries in it which was a nice surprise. It was different from what I imagined, but it was a tasty snack ^_^

Today, I had a snack here♪ The approach to Kiyomizu-dera was very crowded. I held my breath and quickly made my way down to Ninen-zaka (laughs). I took a break and had some wet rice crackers here♪ They were sprinkled with shichimi togarashi and although they weren't freshly baked, they were soft and had a spicy Japanese flavor with a hint of sweet soy sauce. It might make a good snack too. It's a tourist spot so the prices are expected, but it would be even better if they were under 200 yen (^-^; Thank you for the meal♪

I took a leisurely stroll down Ninen-zaka and stopped by a traditional Japanese rice cracker shop. I bought some wet rice crackers on sale for half price, only 100 yen each. They were delicious as always, with a warm soy sauce flavor. A classic snack for walking around! Thank you for the meal.

There seems to be no place without a store in tourist spots, "Terakoya Honpo". They have a variety of rice crackers and senbei lined up. You can also buy freshly baked ones to eat on the spot. My husband is a fan of this place, and whenever we find one near Arashiyama or Fushimi Inari Shrine, he gets excited and picks out some snacks. On this day, my husband bought some as souvenirs for himself. We always receive some as a treat, and they never disappoint - the crispy and fragrant texture is always delightful. Thank you for the meal.

At Ninen-zaka, we enjoyed some beer time... Ninen-zaka for wet senbei. "Terakoya Honpo" August 21, 2017 NEW! Theme: Kansai Area
My partner and I went on a trip to Kyoto. From Yasaka Shrine to Ninen-zaka... It was already hot in the summer, but Kyoto was even hotter with many tourists... Well, this is also a good memory... It's nice to see many women in yukata. As we walked along Ninen-zaka, we noticed that wet senbei were being sold at a reasonable price at a shop called "Terakoya Honpo." We enjoyed eating while walking... This is the essence of walking in Kyoto... I would have liked to have a beer while walking too...

This is a senbei (rice cracker) shop located on a nice street near Kiyomizu Temple in Kyoto, called Ninen-zaka. It's a small shop with a counter where they sell 12 different types of senbei for snacking, displayed in a showcase. Most of them cost 120 yen each, which is quite affordable. I bought the "Special Nori" senbei this time, which cost 150 yen. They handed it to me in a paper bag, and it was quite warm. Maybe it was freshly baked? The senbei was larger than a card size and wrapped in a big sheet of nori (seaweed). It's a regular nori senbei in terms of flavor, but it tasted really good! The seasoning is a slightly salty soy sauce flavor, with a crispy texture. The senbei itself has a great taste. According to the description on the paper bag, while most senbei are made with wheat flour and rice flour, this shop uses high-quality pure mochi rice. That's why it's delicious. This shop also has another branch closer to Kiyomizu Temple. I recommend it for snacking while sightseeing in Kiyomizu Temple and Ninen-zaka.

I have some time before the start of the Ginkakuji Temple light-up, and I'm feeling a bit peckish. As I stroll along Ninen-zaka, the aroma of fragrant senbei catches my attention. Although I had wanted to eat takoyaki or grilled squid, I couldn't find any takoyaki stalls around. So, I decided to go for senbei instead.
The shop I visited was quite popular, with a steady stream of customers. Most of them seemed to be tourists, given the location. There were various types of delicious senbei displayed at the storefront. I was intrigued by one particular piece, priced at 130 yen, labeled as "Mukashi Shoyu" (Old-fashioned soy sauce flavor).
I have a tendency to overreact to nostalgic things, so the mention of "Mukashi" caught my attention. Since I was planning to have ramen later, I decided to just get one piece to snack on. I purchased the "Mukashi Shoyu" senbei.
The senbei had a crispy texture typical of senbei, with a delightful fragrance spreading throughout my mouth. The soy sauce flavor was also excellent. There were other types of senbei that piqued my interest, so I look forward to trying them out on my next visit.
Overall, it was a satisfying snack experience. Thank you for the delicious senbei!
