On the way to Kiyomizu-dera, we took a soft break at a honey shop in Kyoto. The shop, which sells honey made in Hokkaido, seems to have a policy of setting up in hot spring resorts and traditional tourist spots across Japan. We got some honey soft serve ice cream, which had a natural yellow color and a rich sweetness that paired well with the ice cream. Despite being very sweet, the combination wasn't overwhelming. The honey's viscosity was impressive, and even my 5-year-old enjoyed it.
