I would rate this place as 3.9 for food and taste, 3.9 for service, 4.0 for atmosphere, 4.0 for value for money, and no rating for drinks. We can get our favorite snacks and dishes here at really affordable prices. Enoki mushrooms for 139 yen, Kyoto-style rolled omelette for 229 yen, and smoked duck for 284 yen. How about that? Pretty good, right? The rolled omelette is great for breakfast with salmon. The smoked duck is seared and mixed with sun-dried enoki mushrooms to absorb the duck fat. We tried it with soba noodles. All of them are flavors we love at prices we love. This supermarket is a friend to the common people.

I would rate this place as 3.5 for food and service, atmosphere, value for money, and drinks. As we approach our 1000th post, I have been thinking about the restaurant that has supported our eating habits the most. There are many places that have delivered food to us regardless of the weather, as well as places we have become regulars at. But ultimately, the place we visit most frequently is the local supermarket. It is part of the CGC Group but only has branches in Kyoto. They are very diligent in sourcing seasonal vegetables in Kyoto, such as bamboo shoots, matsutake mushrooms, and chestnuts. They also have a great selection of fresh fish, with some unique items occasionally available. This time, they had young isaki (from Nagasaki), which I purchased and made into a delicious simmered dish. While there isn't much to highlight about the meat selection, they usually sell pork with the skin on, which is great for pork skin fans like me. Additionally, their rolled omelettes from the deli section are delicious and quite large for just over 200 yen, which is very affordable. Even though they may not have the best quality oil for frying, there is nothing to complain about at this store. I look forward to continuing to shop here in the future. I always line up at the checkout counter with the lady (chief) with a unique, singing-like voice saying "Welcome" because I enjoy hearing her voice.
