The photo of the 生八ツ橋 (Nama Yatsuhashi) posted by others is different from the packaging... Is it a renewal? The quality of 生八ツ橋 is incredibly high, with a soft texture and generous amount of sweet bean paste, far surpassing a certain souvenir Yatsuhashi. The wrapping of 生八ツ橋 in a dough similar to a dorayaki skin may be innovative for Yatsuhashi connoisseurs, but as someone who purely loves Yatsuhashi, it's a bit of a mixed feeling.

This is a souvenir from Kyoto. It is a famous confectionery from Kyoto Eido, one of the renowned stores for Yatsuhashi, established in 1952. It is a unique traditional Japanese sweet where fresh Yatsuhashi is wrapped in Mikasa-style dough, creating a cohesive flavor. It looks like a dorayaki, but when you taste it, you'll experience the chewy texture of fresh Yatsuhashi, with a hint of Mizuame giving it a similar texture to Ayu sweets. The flavor carries the characteristic scent of cinnamon, which is not overpowering, making it appealing to those who are not big fans of traditional Japanese sweets. I also shared it with some colleagues at work, and they all enjoyed the chewy and delicious taste. The box and wrapping paper feature illustrations from the Heian period, adding a lovely touch of Kyoto. For those who always bring back pickles or regular Yatsuhashi as souvenirs from Kyoto, Tsutsumi Yatsuhashi is also a great choice. Thank you for the meal.

From the land of the Heian Dynasty, a gift of exquisite delicacies from the elegant Kyoto Saka Hachibashi village "Kyoeido". The Kyoto confectionery from Kyoeido, crafted with meticulous care and refined over generations, is a precious gem that embodies the traditions of elegance cultivated since the Heian period. I had the pleasure of trying the "Tsubuan (sweet bean paste) filled Hachibashi" from Kyoeido. It has been years since I last had Hachibashi. The chewy, slightly sweet skin encases a delicious sweet bean paste filling. While it is tasty, I personally feel it could be a bit less sweet. It must be a delight for those who love sweet bean paste. Personally, I would prefer just the skin. Thank you for the treat.

Golden Week is coming to an end. I received some nama yatsuhashi as a souvenir from Kyoto. The "Tsubuan Nama Yatsuhashi Matcha Iri Kyoto Hanashi" with a chewy skin and just the right amount of sweet red bean paste is delicious. It's not too sweet, which is good. I don't particularly love matcha, but I enjoyed this nama yatsuhashi. When I was a child, I preferred the crispy yatsuhashi over the nama yatsuhashi, but as I grew older, my preferences changed. Now, I have become a big fan of nama yatsuhashi. I hope someone will bring me more. Thank you for the meal!

I purchased this at a local product exhibition. While there are many online-only products at these exhibitions, it seems like this one has a physical store as well. I wanted to try the Hachizou brand of Yatsuhashi, but since I couldn't find it at the exhibition, I tried other flavors which were more traditional. Of course, the red bean paste filling and the fragrant outer layer were delicious, and the texture was solid. I saw Aun Mochi for the first time. I didn't know the phrase "Aun" from the movie starring Koji Tsuruta and written by Kuniko Mukōda. I guess I just prefer the flavors of the West. When I first tried Kuromitsu-Ten, it was a shocking experience. Although I do enjoy vinegar soy sauce depending on the time and place, after discovering Kuromitsu-Ten while working in the Kyoto-Osaka area, going back to Tokyo with its abundance of vinegar soy sauce was quite disappointing.

When it comes to representing traditional Kyoto sweets, Yatsuhashi is the top choice. Among them, nama yatsuhashi is a classic souvenir. While cinnamon flavor used to be the main one, there are also variations with matcha flavor now. I received the matcha flavor, which may not be a well-known choice among yatsuhashi shops. I usually don't eat sweet snacks, but yatsuhashi has a nostalgic taste for me. Personally, I prefer the outer skin over the sweet bean paste. It goes well with Japanese tea, making me appreciate being Japanese.

Today I fell in love with eight-leafed cakes. The package design is rated 3.3, and the ingredients include sugar, rice flour, sesame seeds, and cinnamon powder. The taste of the angular-cut eight-leafed cakes is nostalgic and delicious. The cost performance is rated 4.0, and overall, I enjoyed the taste of Kyoto. Thank you for the meal.
