As you descend from the entrance to the underground, you will find a spacious area with 200 seats, exuding a retro atmosphere. I ordered the "Spaghetti Aglio e Olio with Iced Coffee" set, and the furniture seems to be original from the opening, adding to the charm. The retro atmosphere is nice, but it was different from what I had imagined a cafe with the scent of coffee wafting through the air to be like. I had the almond cake, which was not too sweet and lacked the kind of buttercream cake flavor I had enjoyed in the past. As a result, I felt that the cake set priced at 1200 yen was a bit high."

The Cake Set allows you to choose one cake from 8 different options, along with a drink. On the day I visited, I chose the Cheesecake and an Iced Coffee. The Cheesecake was quite large and rich in flavor, providing a satisfying dessert experience. The coffee in the set was very strong and bitter, but it paired well with the sweetness of the cake. The Cream Soda was a classic Melon Soda with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream, and it was deliciously rich. The cafe is located about a 5-minute walk from the East Exit of Shinjuku Station. It is a historic cafe established in 1949, with a luxurious interior design that gives off a castle-like atmosphere. Although the cafe was full of customers, the spacious seating allowed for decent turnover. I would love to revisit to try other cakes, as the Cheesecake I had was so delicious. During the time from 11:30 to 12:20, I had a tuna and egg sandwich set. The bread was soft and slightly sweet, very delicious. It was satisfying with plenty of tuna and egg filling. Unfortunately, I had plans afterwards so I couldn't enjoy my coffee slowly. It was a shame that the music was too quiet at this famous music cafe. Visited a long-established coffee shop in Shinjuku for the first time in a while. Ordered the Amber Set with thick toast, coffee, salad, and yogurt. The coffee had a deep, rich flavor with woody notes. The chairs were comfortable, perfect for relaxing. It was busier than usual, perhaps due to the Obon holiday.

It's been a while since I last visited "Ranburu," and this is my first time posting on Tabelog, but it's a revisit for me. I had some errands in Shinjuku, so I came here for breakfast. The entrance doesn't give away the impressive interior downstairs with high ceilings. The restaurant has around 200 seats and the atmosphere is very calming. Despite it being a weekday, there were many young women enjoying the cafe, almost full. I decided to have the shrimp pilaf and the classic cream soda. The visual presentation was amazing, and the pilaf came with a side salad, making it a healthy choice. With the recent trend of retro cafes, many historic and famous cafes are closing due to building deterioration and lack of successors. It's important to cherish these places before they are gone. Don't worry, there were no talks about Ranburu closing. I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal!

I feel like the price is a bit high for this location. I wonder if we are paying for the experience of a traditional coffee shop. However, the service and atmosphere of the place are top-notch. I would recommend it for people who love traditional coffee shops.

On holidays, it's disappointing that they don't offer a light meal menu. I heard that even with about 10 staff members, they can't keep up. I was relaxing there around 9 in the morning, but as time passed, there was a rapid turnover of young customers typical of Shinjuku. It's American cuisine. Nothing particularly noteworthy. In a sense, it's a taste that everyone can enjoy. The restaurant has a luxurious atmosphere with a three-dimensional seating structure that exudes a glamorous cabaret-like vibe. Just for that, it's worth lingering for two hours, but without that, the plain American dish for 800 yen is quite a luxurious price. Visited when there were 547 people, rating 3.53.

It's always relaxing whenever I go there. It can get crowded around lunchtime, but as I ate my meal, the number of people decreased and the restaurant became quiet. The only thing that bothers me is the small tables, but other than that, I think it's a great restaurant. The cakes are delicious. This time I had the carbonara. I will definitely go back.

I was seated on the basement floor, which had a retro coffee shop atmosphere. During this time, they only offered drink and cake sets, so I couldn't have a light meal. I ordered an apple pie and iced tea set (1200 yen). The apple pie wasn't warm, but it had chunky, sweet and sour apples, and it was delicious. The atmosphere is welcoming for solo customers, so I would like to continue using this cafe in the future.

I ordered the egg and tuna roll set (iced coffee) and the apple pie set (hot coffee). The apple pie was a traditional hard type and was just okay. What was really delicious was the egg and tuna roll sandwich. It was full of ingredients and had a gentle flavor. This was really good. The large retro-style interior seemed to be attracting a younger crowd, perhaps due to the recent boom in Showa-era retro coffee shops. The only downside was that they didn't have spaghetti with Napolitan sauce on the menu.

It was a regular day, so I was able to get in right away. It was hot, so I ordered an iced café au lait. However, the inside of the restaurant was still not cooled down enough, and it felt sticky. It seemed like the air conditioning was not set to a high enough level. Being underground, it felt stuffy, and with the heat outside, it would have been better if the inside of the restaurant was cooler.

Also, it's a shame that the staff weren't very friendly despite the lovely atmosphere of the shop.

I spent about 6 years after graduating from college. At first, I sat on the first floor where smoking was allowed, but after quitting smoking, I moved to the basement seats and was surprised by how spacious and beautiful it was.
