Ichibiko is located a little away from Sangenjaya in the Taishido area. The shop started in Sangenjaya and has expanded to various locations. On a hot day, I ordered shaved ice, smoothie, and lemonade. The shaved ice had plenty of Ichibiko's strawberry sauce, making it a special strawberry shaved ice. The lemonade and smoothie were also rich in strawberry flavor, making it a delicious treat on a hot day.

There is a local strawberry specialty store nearby! My wife always buys things on a whim while walking our beloved dog Hachi, and this time she brought back this strawberry juice! One of the recommended orders is the "Strawberry Sweets Combination Plate ~ Rabbit Tea Time ~", which is a weekday limited, time-limited, and Taishodo store limited menu that started on March 13th. Reservations were only accepted for three days on April 8th (Saturday), April 9th (Sunday), and April 22nd (Saturday) for the weekends. I invited a friend who loves strawberries and went to try it out. The plate includes: Strawberry Mille-feuille Pie - a combination of strawberry slices, rich strawberry cheese cream, and custard cream on a crispy pie crust. It was delicious to eat the strawberry cheese cream and custard together with the crispy pie. The "Migaki Ichigo Moist Sandwich" has a moist texture with cream containing Migaki strawberries and jam with a hint of acidity sandwiched between. It is a popular item limited to the Taishodo store. The "Strawberry Petit Shortcake" is a mini version of Ichibiko's popular shortcake with a light cream and whole strawberries in a fluffy cake. The set drink includes organic Rosehip Tea (HOT), organic Chamomile Tea (HOT), Organic Tea (COLD/HOT), and Coffee (COLD/HOT). I chose the Organic Tea. The tea menu (HOT) requires phone or in-store reservations. Reservations are available from Saturday to the following Friday, with bookings possible up to 2 days before. The offering time is on weekdays at 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 in 60-minute intervals. The menu comes with a drink and costs ¥3,300. It's a dream-like menu where you can enjoy Ichibiko's best dishes in one plate. It's a bit challenging due to being limited to weekdays and reservations, but highly recommended. I made a reservation in advance for a visit with a friend for the first time in the afternoon on a weekday. We walked from Sangenjaya Station to the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is stylish with William Morris' strawberry thief wallpaper. The Combination plate of strawberry sweets is perfect for a rabbit-themed tea time. It includes a strawberry mille-feuille (crispy pastry with a lightly sweet cream and fresh strawberries), a moist strawberry sandwich, and a mini strawberry shortcake. For drinks, you can choose from 4 options, and I chose organic rosehip tea served in a pot. We also enjoyed a milk crepe filled with strawberries and an iced rosehip tea. The only downside was the disposable plastic cups for the drinks, which didn't quite match the elegant atmosphere of the place. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable afternoon tea experience.

While strolling along the Karasuyama River Green Road from Sangenjaya to Kamimachi, I was lured by the delicious scent of strawberries and decided to enter the shop. The interior was filled with the sweet and tangy aroma of strawberries. I ordered a strawberry parfait and pudding. The parfait was a strawberry lover's dream, with everything from ice cream, meringue, to jelly at the bottom all being strawberry-flavored. The strawberries used as toppings had a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity. The pudding had a jam-like strawberry topping. I was also tempted by the panna cotta in the neighboring container. The strawberries used here were so delicious that my spouse ended up ordering two bottles of strawberry milk powder as a birthday gift for a friend. I would love to try this strawberry milk powder as well. Along the green road in front of the shop, plum blossoms were blooming here and there. Both plums and strawberries are truly in season now. 🍓

I visited this place after seeing it in a food magazine, thinking it would be perfect for a Christmas gift exchange. It wasn't too crowded when I arrived around 3 PM on a Sunday. I decided to buy a panna cotta or pudding for myself, and chose the panna cotta because it had more strawberries on top. The staff accidentally gave me the white plate labeled "strawberry pudding" instead of the yellow one with more strawberries. I didn't bother to ask for an exchange and just took it home. The panna cotta was okay, nothing special. It was a good walk from Shinjuku Isetan to Lisn Aoyama and then to Sangenjaya, so I got some exercise in. I took the train back from Sangenjaya.

When I walked my beloved dog Hachi, we passed by a shop where the lights were off but the sign still said "open"! This place is famous for its strawberry sweets. My wife loves strawberries, so she decided to buy some to take home. We got three puddings and shared a strawberry gâteau au chocolat. It was absolutely delicious! Apparently, you can only buy the strawberry gâteau au chocolat at the Taishido store. By the way, it's right near the Taishido Elementary School where I used to go. Cheers!

The strawberry-filled milk crepe (680 yen), exclusive to the Taishido shop, had more strawberries than shown in the photos, making it feel like a good deal. The strawberries were thick and abundant, overpowering the taste of the grape, with the sponge at the bottom giving it the feel of eating a strawberry shortcake. The strawberries themselves were sweet and delicious, with a mild acidity. The strawberry cream had a smooth acidity that enhanced the overall taste of the cake. It is recommended to check the menu on the website before visiting, as each shop offers different products and limited items.

After drinking alcohol at Gotokuji, I wandered around the Sangenjaya and Nishi Taishido areas and felt like I needed some sugar to help break down the alcohol in my system. I happened to come across this shop and decided to stop by. I had been to the Sangenjaya location before, but this was my first time here. The taste was delicious, so I ordered the strawberry shortcake with extra whipped cream for around 700 yen. The whipped cream was plentiful and the strawberries had a nice tartness to them, making it very tasty.

Ichibiko. It's always crowded and hard to get in, but I managed to go in just before 8 pm on a weekday during the state of emergency. I got a takeout of strawberry shaved ice (918 yen). Wow, shaved ice has gotten expensive nowadays. It was delicious with authentic strawberry sauce. But for this price, I wish it had real strawberries in it. Thank you for the meal!

I had the Strawberry Butter Sandwich for 350 yen and the Biscuit for 650 yen. The shop on Chasawa Street seems to have a slightly different product lineup. It's a bit pricey, but the butter sandwich with strawberries tasted really delicious, almost like a cake.

The Sangenjaya store is quite small, so you need to ask the staff if you want to see more... but here, the showcase is larger, and there is a dedicated space for baked goods, giving you plenty of options to choose from. The wood theme is strong, giving it a cafe-like atmosphere. There were no seats facing each other (at least for now?), but it's nice to sit at the counter and enjoy the view outside while indulging in strawberry sweets alone. I resisted the temptation to eat in and opted for takeout instead. By the way, each store has limited edition items, so I feel like collecting them all. This time, I got the strawberry chocolate shortcake and the berry strawberry shortcake. One piece of Ichibiko cake is quite large and filling, but not too heavy with a fluffy cream. I wanted to buy 3-4 pieces, but I reminded myself to only get one per person and ended up with two. When I got home, I savored the refreshing acidity of Ichibiko's strawberries, satisfying my strawberry cravings. The butter sandwich has a hint of strawberry flavor, but not much buttery taste. However, I think it is recommended for those who love strawberries.

In search of shaved ice, I visited Taishido, a strawberry sweets specialty store run by the agricultural production corporation GRA in Miyagi Prefecture, known for producing the brand "Migaki Ichigo" strawberries. They have multiple stores in Tokyo (7 in total), but only Taishido and Sakurashinmachi stores offer shaved ice for dine-in. So, I decided to visit the original store, Taishido. It's located near Sangenjaya Station, right by the Karasuyama River Green Path in a residential area. The store sign is not very noticeable, so you might miss it. Upon entering, my shaved ice buddy and I were disappointed to find out that they were sold out of shaved ice due to a soft serve machine malfunction. As an alternative, I ordered the Strawberry Smoothie for 700 yen (excluding tax). My companion ordered the Strawberry Lemon Squash. The prices are quite high. Inside the store, there is a display case showcasing shortcakes, tarts, milk crepes, and more. There were no other customers at the time. We sat by the window. The Migaki Ichigo smoothie came topped with whipped cream and strawberry sauce. The smoothie had a mild sweetness and allowed us to enjoy the sweet and tangy flavor of the strawberries. The whipped cream, which I usually don't like, wasn't overly sweet either. The strawberry bits added a nice touch. Although the smoothie was expensive, we were able to savor the flavor of Migaki Ichigo. However, they lost points for running out of shaved ice.

I went looking for shaved ice! While there were photos of shaved ice at the Sangenjaya store on Tabelog, the Twitter account mentioned that shaved ice is actually served at Taishido, not Sangenjaya. So, I walked over to Taishido! Be careful not to confuse Sangenjaya with Taishido. ⭐️Visited on a weekend around 5:30 pm, just before closing time at 6 pm. Even though there were no people waiting, the place was full, so I had to wait a bit. With only 6 seats available, it's all about luck. If most people are using it as a cafe (for Instagrammable photos and chatting), it could be fatal for shaved ice lovers... ⭐️Ordered the Strawberry Cream Shaved Ice and Strawberry Panna Cotta ⭐️Impressions: The shaved ice was incredibly cute! The strawberry jam or puree inside gives a nice big strawberry flavor. It's cute and fairly large, but the shaved ice portion is on the smaller side, with more cream instead. It might not be suitable for those who want to really dig into the ice, but it's perfect as a strawberry dessert like a parfait.

The popular Ichibiko milk, which is a rich strawberry milk made with 30% domestic strawberry juice, domestic milk, and condensed milk, has been transformed into a new treat as of July 1, 2020. It now comes in three different flavors: strawberry, apple mango, and soda, combined with the original strawberry milk. The treat consists of a strawberry milk lacto ice cream on top, followed by the flavored ice candy at the bottom. Each costs 400 yen (excluding tax). I tried it as a take-out option, but the store also allows eating inside. The packaging features a cute rabbit design reminiscent of the Choju-jinbutsu-giga. The surface was covered in a thin layer of ice, preserving the freshness. Upon tasting, the strawberry milk part had a subtle strawberry flavor, a moderate sweetness, and a refreshing texture. It reminded me of Sakuma's strawberry milk candy. However, on a hot day like this, the candy part at the bottom tended to melt quickly, which was a bit messy but still delicious. They kindly offer an extra treat if the stick comes with a winning mark. Overall, it was a delightful experience.
