I came to Kyoto from Tokyo for a visit and discovered a fantastic restaurant! The taste and presentation of the food, the selection of wines, and the heartfelt service from the staff were all excellent! I love the cozy atmosphere and space of the restaurant, which is typical of Kyoto. While thinking, "In Tokyo, the prices would be 1.5 times higher," I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. I will definitely visit this restaurant again the next time I come to Kyoto. I will become a repeat customer!

I had always been curious about this shop that I passed by. It is said to have inherited the taste of a former famous restaurant. On this day, I ordered a tuna sandwich lunch set with an additional iced coffee, and bought a cheesecake to go. The tuna sandwich and Manhattan clam chowder that came with it were delicious. The atmosphere inside the shop was calm and not too bright. The cheesecake I ate at home was from that famous Papa Jones. I definitely want to visit again.

From 1985 to 2006, there was a New York-style cafe called Knuckles near Daikoku-ji that has now made a comeback after over 15 years. The owner worked in the kitchen at Knuckles during his university days, so he knows the original flavors well. The familiar signboard remains the same. They serve unique sandwiches like the Knuckles Sandwich with homemade sausage and the Laguna Beach Memory with tuna and avocado, just like in the old days. The cozy atmosphere of the traditional townhouse makes it a relaxing place to enjoy your meal. You can also purchase wine on the second floor.

I learned about this restaurant from my wine buddies and when I visited Kyoto, I just had to check it out. The shop is beautifully renovated in a traditional Kyoto townhouse style. In addition to their regular menu, they offer a lunch menu which is quite a deal. I had the Manhattan clam chowder soup and egg sandwich set for 1000 yen. Coffee was half price at 250 yen, and a glass of wine was 850 yen. It's great that you can enjoy a drink during lunchtime. Both the soup and sandwich were delicious. The New Zealand Riesling had a rich fruity flavor and a classic Riesling aroma. The glassware is from Riedel. The coffee was fruity and incredibly delicious. Definitely worth a try.

I visited the restaurant around 18:15 on a holiday. At that time, when Omicron was feared, there were no other customers. I ordered the Lasagna with Tomato Sauce for 950 yen. It was delicious with plenty of cheese. This lasagna had a smaller portion compared to Trattoria La Voce's lasagna, but both were very tasty. Lasagna is always the best! This lasagna was a bit difficult to cut with a spoon, but they provided a fork and knife. The hot flat pasta was excellent. It came with garlic butter bread, which was as delicious as expected.

I wanted to stop by here as I came shopping in the neighborhood. It seems that they continued operating irregularly right after being reopened and then the state of emergency was declared. The mango cheesecake was small but just the right size to accompany coffee, with a slightly strong sweetness. The cafe latte had a strong milk taste and was a mild type, which was delicious and refreshing on a hot day. The interior of the store, housed in a traditional townhouse, was more spacious than I had imagined. They also had thorough measures in place for preventing the spread of infection. Some senior reviewers may feel nostalgic when they see the name of the shop, as the original Knuckles was a cafe in Kyoto during the early days, run by the current owner of Pavilion's. The new Knuckles is said to be reproducing the menu from that time, created by a former employee. Although I am from the Cafe Doji era, I was delighted to see the revival of this former famous cafe.

Sandwich and cheesecake shop. You can enjoy carefully crafted sandwiches using bread from Chekiyo-san and meat & deli from Kawakita-ya. The cheesecake is from PAPA Jon's cafe. I originally planned to just have tea, but when I looked at the menu, the sandwiches looked delicious, so I decided to try one. I chose the Laguna Beach Memory ¥1000 and a blend coffee ¥500 from the selection of about 7 sandwiches. The Laguna Beach Memory is made with toasted rye bread, tuna, and avocado. It has a fragrant aroma and the tuna and avocado blend together smoothly, creating a delicious texture. The potato salad served on the side has a hint of cumin. The blend coffee is medium-dark roast and served in a generous mug. I heard that when they resume normal operations, they also offer wine, which sounds like a fun experience.

We enjoyed a daytime drinking session, ordering 4-5 dishes for two people. We had 2 beers and 4 glasses of wine, totaling 7700 yen. The wine list had 7 types ranging from 600-850 yen, which were reasonably priced. The sandwiches were delicious, and the overall atmosphere and decor of the restaurant were excellent.
