I recently visited a newly opened restaurant that also has a branch in Shiga Prefecture. As a fan of eel, I had to go try it out. The menu was extensive, and I ordered various dishes. The Kansai-style eel was perfect - crispy on the outside and tender on the inside! I enjoyed the eel rolls, grilled eel, and broiled eel, all of which were delicious. The restaurant was clean and quiet, making it a relaxing place to dine. I would love to visit again if I have the chance.

Recently opened, an eel and Omi beef restaurant located next to Family Mart on the north side of Sanjo Keihan, underground floor 1, for those concerned about stairs there is an elevator, the eel has crispy skin and tender meat, not overly sauced, with extra sauce provided in a separate container, using famous Wakayama sansho pepper, and the rice is perfectly cooked, making the meal delicious. Upon entering, cold tea is served, showing great hospitality. Although it may seem difficult to find underground, the taste is worth it, without having to go all the way to Lake Hamana. This is a delicious restaurant that you should try before it gets crowded with long lines.

It was a meal on the way to the art museum. It seemed okay to not make a reservation. Some people were ordering takeout. I ordered Hitsumabushi with a delicious charcoal-grilled aroma and Steak Juu. Both were tasty, but the cost performance was just okay.

During the busy Bon festival season, I spotted a restaurant called Nobori located east of Sanjo Ohashi bridge. It was packed with customers, but I managed to find a seat at the counter where I could see the grill. I ordered the grilled eel set meal for 4200 yen and it arrived promptly after an 8-minute wait. The meal included delicious side dishes like yuba (tofu skin) salad, clear soup, and a tasty pickled dish. The eel was incredibly delicious, cooked perfectly over charcoal to be crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The sauce was on the sweeter side, and the rice was a blend of mochi rice which was unexpectedly good. The atmosphere was great, but the only downside was the slightly inconvenient entrance to the restaurant. Despite this, I would highly recommend visiting this place for a delicious meal. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience and I look forward to visiting again.

It was a shop located underground. The location was easy to find, near the station. The eel was crispy and delicious with a sweet sauce. The grilled liver was also delicious without any unpleasant smell, as the sauce had soaked in. It was disappointing that there were few drink options and no draft beer available.

I was able to make a last-minute online reservation for a new restaurant near the station, so I decided to give it a try. The restaurant is located in the basement of a building, and the stairs leading down are very steep, so I recommend taking the elevator instead. The building itself seems old, with small steps and slopes scattered throughout. The new restaurant is clean and modern, but the basic structure may be old-fashioned. My husband found the skin of the eel to be tough, but I didn't mind it. The presentation of the eel on seaweed in a bag was a bit odd, according to my husband. The restaurant had free Wi-Fi, but it was a bit warm inside, especially near the grill where smoke filled the air at one point. The taste of the food was good, although my husband complained about the tough skin. The portion size of the eel was generous, with plenty of rice and delicious broth. The eel roll had a solid broth flavor as well. Overall, I enjoyed the taste of the food. I received a loyalty card, but I probably won't accumulate many points since I like trying different restaurants. My main concern when dining out with my elderly mother is her safety, so I hope to visit this restaurant again if the timing is right.

Today, I went to a new eel restaurant in Sanjo, Kyoto.
En Kyoto Sanjo is a restaurant that specializes in authentic charcoal-grilled eel. Located on the basement floor of a building near Keihan Sanjo Station, this restaurant opened on July 21, 2023. It originated in Yasu City, Shiga Prefecture, and this is its first branch in Kyoto.
The counter seats offer a view of the chefs grilling the eel over charcoal. The eel is prepared fresh every morning and grilled over charcoal in the Kansai style known as "jizayaki." The menu includes eel dishes like the "unaju" set meal, which comes in different sizes and includes side dishes like rolled omelette and salmon roe.
I tried the Charcoal-Grilled Eel Set Meal (Bamboo), which is a smaller size portion of eel served with side dishes like a small appetizer, soup, and pickles. The eel was juicy and flavorful, with a crispy exterior and a tender interior. The sweet sauce complemented the eel perfectly.
The rice served with the eel is a blend of Omi rice "Mizukagami" and Shiga-grown sticky rice "Shiga Hanijyuu Nure." It had a chewy texture that paired well with the eel. I also enjoyed sprinkling some sansho pepper on the eel for added flavor.
Overall, the meal was satisfying and the service was excellent. The owner even came to greet the customers personally, adding to the welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant.

The thick, fluffy and soft eel with a crispy grilled skin was very delicious! While many eel restaurants have a thick and sweet sauce, this place had a light and sweet sauce that allowed the flavors of the eel and rice to shine through, which was very satisfying. The rice was also delicious. All four of us women finished a single eel rice bowl, but we thought men might appreciate a bit more rice. We later found out that you can request extra rice. The restaurant was new and clean, with a full glass kitchen that kept the smoke away, which was nice.

I went to eat on the opening day. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was great, and everyone, including the head chef and the president, was very nice! The eel was delicious with crispy skin! The Omi beef was also amazing! Even my wife, who doesn't like eel, took a bite and said she would eat eel next time because it was so delicious! I will definitely visit again soon!

The newly opened restaurant was very clean and all the staff, including the manager, were very friendly! I wasn't a big fan of eel, but after trying the eel here, it became my favorite dish! It's very close to Sanjo Keihan Station, so it's easy to get there by train or car. Highly recommended!!

Today, I went to the eel restaurant En in Sanjo, Kyoto. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very nice and it was crowded with customers. I ordered the Hitsumabushi, and after a short wait, I was not disappointed. The eel was exceptional, with tender meat and crispy skin - it was amazing! I would like to visit again with my family next time. The restaurant is located underground, but there is an elevator so it was convenient.

I had una-juu (eel over rice) and kimo-sui (eel liver soup) with half portion of grilled eel. The skin was crispy and fragrant, very delicious. The sauce was a bit sweet. The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere, probably because it had only been open for about a month.
