Renovated stylish cafe in a 100-year-old townhouse, MAISON TANUKI. I just went last month but I love it so much that I came again. Opened in May this year, they offer patissier-made desserts and afternoon tea in an adult cafe setting. Enjoy seasonal fruit sweets made with locally sourced ingredients. Starting from September 21st, they have an Autumn Afternoon Tea set for ¥3,500 with 2 drinks included. Featuring sweet potato, chestnut, pumpkin, apple, grapes, and more, the autumn flavors are abundant. Each dessert is carefully crafted and delicious, with Shine Muscat grapes being juicy and delightful. The atmosphere is calm and cozy, reflecting Kyoto's traditional aesthetic. A truly special and delicious experience with high-quality sweets in a serene setting. Reservations are a must due to its popularity. Don't miss out on their parfaits and other offerings as well!

In September 2023, I started my day with a walk in Kyoto. I decided to begin with a parfait activity at "MAISON TANUKI" in Karasuma Oike. I made a reservation on a food review website a few days ago and chose the Summer Strawberry and Vanilla Mousse Parfait for 1900 yen. I arrived for my 11:00 am reservation and was seated at a cozy table on the second floor. The atmosphere was relaxing and I could take my time. I also noticed the "Earl Grey-scented White Peach Parfait" on the menu, so I ordered one of each. I chose the Summer Strawberry one for myself. After a short wait, the parfaits arrived. They looked beautiful and both seemed delicious. I started with the Summer Strawberry parfait, which had fresh strawberries, vanilla mousse, refreshing creme d'ange, and thyme jelly. The abundance of strawberries was delightful, and the combination with the vanilla mousse and thyme was perfect. It was a satisfying treat. Thank you for the meal!

Kyoto is about a 5-minute walk from Karasuma Oike. It is a cafe built in a machiya style. I made a reservation for a seat and a parfait on this day. It is very helpful to be able to reserve a cafe, especially when visiting from out of town. The first floor is for selling baked goods, while the second floor is a calm cafe. When I made the reservation, the only option was a Summer Strawberry and Vanilla Mousse Parfait for 1900 yen, but when I looked at the menu, I saw a White Peach Cafe with a hint of Earl Grey for 2000 yen, so I requested a change. The parfait had plenty of marinated white peaches. The Earl Grey jelly was a perfect match. On top, there was a delicately crafted candy bird. It was very elaborate. The parfait that my friend ordered, the Summer Strawberry and Vanilla Mousse Parfait, also had a vibrant and beautiful presentation. There was also a Melon Afternoon Tea option available. Perhaps because it was a weekday, there were no other customers, and we were able to enjoy the quiet Kyoto machiya cafe and parfait.

MAISON TANUKI's Melon Afternoon Tea is a cafe located in a renovated 100-year-old traditional townhouse. Despite its traditional Japanese sweets atmosphere, it actually serves Western-style desserts. No reservation is required for the Afternoon Tea set, which includes Melon Shortcake, Choux Cream, Melon and Citrus Roll Cake, and more. The set costs ¥3,500 with two drinks included, and you can opt for a drink free-flow for an additional ¥600. The cafe is located at 143-3 Nagahama-cho, Nishii-ru, Nakagyo-ku, Kyoto. #maisontanuki #afternoontea #melonsweets #traditionalcafe #townhousecafe #Kyoto #Kyotogourmet #UzumasaOikeStation #solodining #instafood

The old folk house café has a very stylish atmosphere. The stairs leading up to the second floor were very small and steep, but that also adds to the charm of the old folk house. The counter seats on the second floor have a view of the courtyard with maple trees, which I thought would be especially beautiful during the autumn foliage season. I had the melon afternoon tea, which had a nice balance of sweetness and just the right amount of food. Even though I was quite hungry when I arrived, I left feeling satisfied. The tea was also delicious.

Renovated stylish cafe in a 100-year-old townhouse, Maison Tanuki, opened just this May. Enjoy pastry chef-made desserts and afternoon tea in this sophisticated adult cafe. Indulge in seasonal fruit sweets made with locally sourced ingredients. Try the Summer Strawberry and Vanilla Parfait for ¥1,900, featuring fresh strawberries and a perfect balance of vanilla sweetness. Or opt for the limited-edition Earl Grey-scented White Peach Parfait for ¥2,000, available until the end of August. The generous amount of peaches topped with peach sauce, combined with the elegant flavor of Earl Grey, is incredibly delicious. The tranquil atmosphere exudes a Kyoto-like wabi-sabi aesthetic, providing a relaxing space to savor these special treats. You can also take out baked goods, which look equally delicious. I loved it so much that I'm already planning to go back next month. Be sure to check it out!

Today, I took Piplup to Kyoto✨ It's about a 3-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station! Visited MAISON TANUKI (@maison_tanuki_kyoto)〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜Ordered this time: Summer Strawberry and Vanilla Mousse Parfait〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜〜Fresh strawberries and vanilla mousse, with a refreshing cream anglaise and a thyme jelly that adds a hint of fragrance, this parfait is perfect for early summer...From Instagram♪The strawberry and vanilla mousse, along with the vanilla ice cream, are delicious. The cream anglaise and thyme jelly give it a refreshing taste, not just sweetness, making it perfect for summer✨The shop also sells financiers and cookies, making it a good souvenir option. Very satisfied! I made a reservation at the beginning of July for my two nieces and I to enjoy a melon afternoon tea with summer strawberries and vanilla mousse parfaits. We were seated at a calm table on the 22nd floor and had various photos taken from different angles before we started eating. The melon afternoon tea included shortcakes, tarts, and other delicious treats that really highlighted the flavor of melon. It was a great experience and for 3500 yen, it was quite a bargain compared to other hotel options. The parfaits were light and easy to eat. In addition, on the first floor, there were some baked goods available for purchase at the traditional townhouse.

A traditional Kyoto townhouse cafe opened on May 17, 2023, in the popular area of Karasuma Oike, where traditional Kyoto townhouses line the streets and trendy cafes and eateries have been attracting attention in recent years. The cafe blends into the town of Kyoto, with a menu that may not initially appear to be a typical cafe. The Melon Afternoon Tea set costs 3,500 yen and includes 10 items and 2 drinks, with the option to upgrade to free-flowing tea for an additional 600 yen. The water-drawn Gyokuro from "Koyamaen" has a light color but surprisingly rich flavor. You can also choose two additional drinks, such as chamomile and Earl Grey. The savory items include 3 tea sandwiches, quiche, melon tart, maple blancmange, adult matcha pound cake, Breton galette, melon shortcake, melon and coconut mousse, choux cream, and melon and aglycon roll cake. Each item is rich and flavorful, with a good balance of sweetness. The maple blancmange in the center is particularly delicious, highlighting the sweetness of the maple. The melon and coconut mousse has a gentle flavor that is sure to be enjoyed by all. While some may think that a menu focused on melon could be repetitive, each item here has a unique taste and texture, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. The menu also includes a dessert course featuring seasonal fruits and parfaits, all of which are handmade by the in-house pastry chef, ensuring a fresh and delicious experience. I look forward to visiting again to try more of their offerings.

Located about a 5-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station, this café offers afternoon tea and desserts. I made a reservation through Tabelog and ordered the Strawberry Afternoon Tea set for ¥3500, which included 2 drinks. The set included a variety of savory and sweet items, such as tea sandwiches, quiche, tarts, cakes, cream puffs, and more, all featuring strawberries. The Camomile Panna Cotta was especially unique and delicious. The café has a second-floor counter seat with a view of the green and red leaves, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Advance reservations are required for the Assiette Dessert, and the Afternoon Tea set is limited in quantity for the day. Overall, the food was delicious and I would love to visit again. Payment options include cash, credit card, electronic money, and more.

After a meeting, I decided to wander around Kyoto by bicycle for the first time in months and happened to come across this shop. I thought of getting some souvenirs, so I picked out a few sweets from inside the shop and decided to take a break and have a cup of tea. I was seated on the second floor, where I could feel the atmosphere of Kyoto's old machiya townhouses. The interior of the shop, renovated from an old house, was very calm and I was able to enjoy my tea slowly. When choosing the tea, I could also confirm the aroma of the tea leaves, so I could order tea according to my preference. I chose some baked sweets as souvenirs, which have a relatively long shelf life, and personally tried the eye-catching strawberry meringue sweet. It melted quickly in my mouth, spreading the fragrance of strawberries. As it is a new shop, I look forward to seeing further improvements, and I am excited to visit again next time.

I visited a townhouse café called MAISON TANUKI that opened on May 17, 2023. The café offers authentic Assiette de Dessert (dessert platters) and afternoon tea created by a pastry chef. They also sell baked goods. The entrance area had a sales corner with baked goods priced around 200-300 yen each, which seemed quite reasonable. Inside on the first floor, there were table seats and a courtyard. Since I had made a reservation in advance, I was seated on the second floor. The space was beautifully designed with a wood theme, and there were also counter seats. The staff, dressed neatly, provided attentive service. On the tables, there were samples of tea leaves in cans for guests to enjoy the aroma. I checked the menu, which included the Assiette de Dessert course (4,000 yen), afternoon tea (3,500 yen), and parfait (1,900 yen). I had reserved the "Strawberry Afternoon Tea in a Townhouse" set, which included a welcome drink, savory items, 8 types of sweets, and 2 drinks. The welcome drink was a cold brew of Gyokuro tea, followed by a strawberry-flavored tea. The savory items included 3 tea sandwiches and quiches. The sweets, all themed around strawberries, were visually appealing and delicious. The afternoon tea experience was seasonal, showcasing fresh fruits. The menu changes every 2-3 months. Overall, I spent about an hour enjoying the delightful sweets in a luxurious yet approachable way.
