I stopped by on my way back from Otsu. "Chateraise" is a chain of affordable sweets shops across the country. It has come a long way from the image of cheap ice candy in the past. My husband bought some for us, so I ended up buying one too. The cake I had was a chestnut cake with chestnuts in the sponge layers. It was quite delicious. My husband had a rich chocolate cake which was almost like eating raw chocolate, very tasty. The cakes are around 380-400 yen as they are limited-time items, while cream puffs and such are around 100-150 yen. It was lucky that my husband treated us to these sweets. Thank you to the staff at the store and my husband.

I visited the Shatoreze Yamashina store! I bought a Toyojiru for 105 yen each. It's a Western confectionery with a buttercream sandwiched in a puff pastry. It has a cheese flavor, which you can probably imagine! It's soft, smooth, cheap, and easy to eat! Goes perfectly with coffee. Shatoreze is known for its cakes, but I recommend trying their Western confections once in a while! Looking at food blogs while eating makes it even better! However, I wish I had bought more. I'm a bit confused lately about eating too much (late realization)! But if something tastes delicious, there's no such thing as eating too much, right? That's what I heard from somewhere! (laughs)

Recently, they have also started selling pizza and frozen dorayaki. The traditional Japanese sweets section offers seasonal items like chestnut ohagi. I love mochi and chestnuts, so I was tempted by them. Talking about this got me off track (・・;). The shop also offers different types of dango and manju depending on the season. This time, I got a frozen zenzai from a friend and took it home. I heated it in the microwave for 3 minutes and 10 seconds, and it was ready. It had big chestnuts, which made me happy. It came with three pieces of mochi. I took a sip of the soup... it was sweet and delightful. It's a recommended treat to enjoy at home with green tea (*^^)v. By the way, if you go near closing time, you can get discounted items close to their expiration date. They have a wide variety of cakes, traditional Japanese sweets, and ice cream, making it a great place to pick up small gifts. The prices are lower compared to the nearby Cattleya bakery, and the cakes are not too small in size. I recommend pre-ordering a cake for birthdays or events like Christmas – kids will love it!

The nearest station is Nashitsuchi, but it is quite far, so most people use a car to get there unless they live nearby. I used to frequent Chateraise when I lived in Osaka, so I was glad to find one in Yamashina as well. The taste used to be average, but the packaging and design were not very appealing, making it seem more suitable for eating at home. However, in recent years, they have put a lot of effort into not only the taste but also the packaging and design, making it suitable for gift-giving. It is a convenient store for both enjoying at home with good value for money and giving as gifts with confidence. Both the sweets and desserts are delicious, but my favorites are the chiffon cake with plenty of cream in the middle, macarons, and dacquoise with ice cream in between. You might find your own favorite if you visit. Highly recommended store.

Received a gift from a friend ^^ A cake assortment from Chateraise. From that, I had the Orange Cake that smells like the sun. (Made with oranges from the Seto Inland Sea) The moist cake has a hint of orange fragrance, although unfortunately, I couldn't quite sense the sun's aroma (^^; Chateraise cakes may not have a special feeling, but they have a reliable taste. It's a cake you can enjoy without any mistakes. (^_-)-☆
