Today, I checked in from Nara to Izumisano, Awaaza, and Joyo, and around Kyoto, which is unusual for me to stay multiple nights in a row after finishing a job. I decided to try a standing bar called "Matsubara Kitchen" near my place. They told me they were closing in 15 minutes, so I quickly ordered a bottle of beer and an assorted appetizer set. The set included soy sauce-based potato salad, boiled chrysanthemum greens, thick omelette, and sashimi of sea bream, all for 950 yen. Due to the recent request from Kyoto city, they had to close by 9 pm, so I bought some grilled pike conger and bamboo shoots at a nearby supermarket to enjoy as a snack after taking a bath.

I highly recommend trying the absolute must-eat Minchi Katsu at Matsubara Gojo Standing Bar Matsubara Kitchen! This day, I had the pleasure of drinking and recording a radio show with Peruperperusa, who is active on internet radio. We enjoyed a Tomato Chuhai for 400 yen and ordered the Senchan Set for 500 yen, which included Salmon Carpaccio, Okara, and Burdock simmered in soy sauce. The Salmon with olive oil dressing was delicious, and the Okara was moist and flavorful. The beef and burdock simmered dish was also very tasty. I also tried the Jagamaru Croquette for 100 yen, which was well-seasoned and delicious even without sauce. My favorite dish here is the absolute must-try Minchi Katsu for 350 yen, which is like a hamburger patty served with homemade tartar sauce. It is truly delicious and highly recommended. Matsubara Gojo Standing Bar Matsubara Kitchen is a wonderful standing bar with great food. Thank you for the meal.

Sen-chan is amazing at leaving it to him! Matsubara Kitchen at Shimizu Gojo standing bar, Yamadera here as usual! This day, I went on a drinking tour in Kyoto with a former colleague from my previous workplace. The restaurant is Matsubara Kitchen, located a 10-minute walk from Keihan Electric Railway Shimizu Gojo Station. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calm, and it is run by the owner Sen-chan. The menu offers a variety of fried foods and vegetables. First, I will have a shochu highball for 350 yen. For the side dishes, I ordered the Sen-chan's omakase for 500 yen. Wow, amazing! When I ordered the omakase, four dishes came out!! I will start with the salmon carpaccio! This is incredibly delicious! It goes well with alcohol! Sen-chan's homemade marinated daikon radish and pickled myoga are also delicious. Everything is so delicious that my cheeks are about to fall off (^^♪ The conversation is also enjoyable, making it a wonderful tavern. Another recommendation is the absolute must-have minced cutlet for 350 yen. You should definitely try this when you come here! The homemade minced cutlet with homemade tartar sauce is the perfect match! It's really delicious, so please try it (^^♪ Another dish is the thin cutlet for 350 yen. The owner's homemade side dishes are delicious - Kyoto, Kiyomizu Gojo, Matsubara Kitchen. Hello, this is Yamadera! On this day, I visited Rokudo Chinnoji Temple in Kiyomizu Gojo to pray and receive a seal. On the way back, I stopped by the standing bar Matsubara Kitchen next door. I have uploaded a video on YouTube, so please check it out if you're interested! The interior of the restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, with space for about 6 people. The menu includes homemade side dishes and fried foods made by the owner. I ordered a non-alcoholic beer for 380 yen. For snacks, I chose the Sen-chan set for 500 yen, which also came with Thai sashimi - a great deal! The Sen-chan set changes daily, so it's always a surprise to see what you get! Unfortunately, I got caught up in filming the video and forgot to take pictures of the Thai sashimi and Matsutake mushrooms... I started with Koya tofu, which had a gentle flavor with plenty of broth - absolutely delicious! The sweet and savory herring also paired well with the beer. Next was the rolled omelette with shrimp - also soaked in flavorful broth and very tasty. A must-try at Matsubara Kitchen is the minced cutlet for 350 yen! It's incredibly juicy and delicious, especially with the homemade tartar sauce on the side. They pay attention to the frying oil, so it's light and easy to eat. In Matsubara Street in the southern part of Gion, there is a small standing bar among the residential area with scattered dining places. It's surprising to find a standing bar in such a place. Recently, there are many guesthouses and hostels around here, so this Japanese-style drinking place seems to attract a lot of visitors. The small bar gets crowded with a few people drinking from lunchtime. It's popular among locals, but casual tourists passing by can also easily enter. The main dish is deep-fried skewers, and beer is served in bottles or cans of happoshu (low-malt beer). The "Sen-chan Set," named after the mama-san Chie, includes 5 skewers for 500 yen. There are skewer sauce and spicy sauce on the table, and the spicy sauce is quite hot.

Hello! This is Yamadera (^^♪ I visited "Matsubara Kitchin" after a long time. The tent, interior, and menu have changed a lot!! The interior has become stylish, with warm-colored lighting! Previously, there was a special set with a drink included, but now the drink is separate and the price has been reduced by 200 yen. Unfortunately, the beloved Nishikyo miso cutlet is no longer available due to cost issues... Running a business is quite challenging and involves many considerations. First, I ordered a special set with shochu highball. Stir-fried cabbage and pork dish (^^♪ It has a gentle and delicious taste. It's like a pot-au-feu with lots of sweet onions. I'm happy because I can eat a lot of vegetables here. Another dish was scallop and avocado with olive oil. The combination is perfect. The croquette was also delicious. When you come to Matsubara Kitchin, you must try the minced cutlet. It's a large minced cutlet and incredibly delicious. The use of good frying oil prevents heartburn, which is fantastic. This is a must-try dish. I also had some kushikatsu. I tried various dishes and was satisfied with my visit after a long time. On this day, I lounged around at home in the morning, and when the rain stopped in the afternoon, I decided to go to "Matsubara Kitten". First, I ordered the Sen-chan Set for 1000 yen. This set comes with various side dishes that change daily, so it's a great deal. I chose the Daizuji Coroque for the Sen-chan Set. It's a delicious coroque with beans! The deep-frying oil is really good, so it doesn't cause any heartburn at all. The beef tendon and konnyaku stew is incredibly tender and flavorful with a soy sauce taste. The bean stew is also gently seasoned and makes a great side dish for sake. The stir-fried nagaimo and spinach is crunchy and tasty. The coroque is already delicious on its own, but I wanted to try it with Hermes sauce, so I drizzled a little on top. The pickles are probably homemade as well. That concludes the Sen-chan Set! It also comes with a drink, so it's a great deal. Recently, the popular item is the Minced Cutlet for 290 yen. It's completely homemade, so it doesn't have any strange smell typical of minced cutlets. It's quite filling and satisfying to eat. Drizzling Hermes sauce over it makes it even more delicious. When you cut it open, you can see the juicy meat oozing out, which is amazing. When I visited the shop, they were working on a trial version of Valentine's Day special - heart-shaped curry coroque with 2 pieces in a beautiful box, along with a homemade pound cake. I tried the pound cake, and it's moist and not too sweet, super delicious. By the way, the pound cake is made by a mother with a daughter who has Down syndrome. The postcards sold at the shop are made by her daughter. I was touched by this wonderful story and ended up buying a postcard. The Valentine's Day coroque is available for pre-order only. After enjoying a delightful conversation, I left the place feeling satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

On this day, I went to "Matsubara Kicchinden" in Matsubara Gojo with Okarina sensei. First, we ordered the Senchan Special for 1000 yen. For drinks, we had chu-hai! Various dishes came out one after another - napa cabbage and pork stew, healthy croquettes with a gentle seasoning, and curry sauce, daikon and chicken stew with a refined broth, stir-fried green peppers and minced meat which was perfect as a drinking snack. This place offers a variety of vegetable dishes, which I really enjoyed! We also ordered potato salad which had chunky potatoes and was delicious. It was great to have conversations with various customers, and Okarina sensei even played the Okarina, which was touching. Thank you for the meal.

Everything I ate was delicious! It's so heartwarming! I also had a vegetable soup. It was a delicious vegetable soup with plenty of various vegetables, healthy and warming from the core of the body. I noticed that there are more sauces now, and I was surprised to find the Hishiume sauce from Osaka Nishinari! Since there was Hishiume sauce, I decided to try the roasted tonkatsu for 350 yen. It was a rainy afternoon after 3 o'clock, and I decided to stop by this standing bar and take-out place to buy some croquettes. I bought a few different kinds: the "Han'nari Father" (100 yen) which was a simple sweet croquette, the "Ojako Mother" (120 yen) which had shredded mountain pepper and sesame inside, and the "Curry Brother" (120 yen) which had a curry flavor and was heart-shaped (even though it was a brother?). I also got a flat, rectangular minced cutlet. The sizes were smaller than I expected, more like a snack size. The taste was light and it would be nice to eat them freshly fried at the bar while having a drink. The hostess here is really thoughtful and cheerful, so I bet it would be fun to eat and drink at the bar.

Today, I stumbled upon a place called Rokudo Maeri with a big curtain while strolling around a pottery market nearby. Intrigued, I decided to stop by and was lured in by the offer of fresh beer from Kichin-san and a simple table setup. I ordered a set of two skewers with a cup of beer for 550 yen. The skewers were made of beef and eggplant. There was shredded cabbage in the cup as well. The beer and skewers made for a perfect little snack. I also noticed a fried Senbei for 120 yen, which I decided to try. The slightly spicy flavor of the Senbei and the sweet red bean paste inside were crispy and matched well together. Additionally, there were hand-drawn maps by the daughter, I assume, inside and outside the place, which added a nice personal touch. I would love to visit again when I'm exploring the area. The restaurant is located right in the middle of tourist spots such as Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkaku-ji, and Ryoan-ji. Local people and tourists visit the restaurant day and night. They offer bento boxes during the day and you can also have lunch at the restaurant. People from nearby workplaces like government offices also frequent the place. I usually show up during the evening drinking time. They offer great sets of Japanese and Western dishes (beer with side dishes or kushikatsu). They have a variety of sake, shochu, wine, and bourbon whiskey. The taste is always guaranteed, and the customers include former hotel chefs and self-proclaimed foodies from Gion. Even local children come to buy croquettes. You can enjoy various conversations with locals and regular customers while eating croquettes, kushikatsu, and delicious side dishes. I have included the recent atmosphere of the restaurant based on a few days ago. - 6/18 (Wed) 1st visit - Visited after seeing Tazif's food log, wanted to try the fried ayu fish - It was delicious!! I stopped by this place near my workplace for a quick visit. When I entered the shop, there was a standing table with about 5 people, which seemed to be the limit. However, the atmosphere as a standing bar where locals gather was fantastic. The kind shop owner, a lovely lady, made me feel at ease and I ended up staying longer than planned. I started with a set of 5 pieces of fried skewers, an appetizer, and a draft beer (you could also choose highball) for 700 yen. The fried skewers were light and delicious, thanks to their attention to the frying oil and technique. They offer a variety of croquettes, but I highly recommend the croquettes with small dried fish and sesame, as well as the secret bean croquette. The secret bean croquette was so fluffy and flavorful that I didn't even realize it wasn't made with potatoes at first. The sesame in the croquette with small dried fish enhances the flavor and goes perfectly with alcohol. For those who enjoy sweets with alcohol, I recommend trying the "deep-fried fresh Yatsuhashi." It's a fresh Yatsuhashi filled with sweet red bean paste and deep-fried to perfection. The timing of the frying was just right, resulting in a crispy and fluffy texture that was beyond my expectations. If you happen to visit the nearby Rokuharamitsu-ji temple, I highly recommend stopping by this place.
