When it comes to representative products from Tokiwaya, names like "Karne" and "Cuscute" may come to mind, but we must not forget the "Beef Cutlet Sandwich." It's a sandwich with toasted bread and a sweet and savory sauce-flavored beef cutlet in between, a taste that can become quite addictive. Even after trying various cutlet sandwiches, this one stands out. On this day, I also purchased the "New Bird" and the "Croquette Burger." The "New Bird" is a curry bread with a wiener inside that has been around for a long time. The "Croquette Burger" was a first for me, with a large croquette sandwiched between sesame buns, offering a satisfying and delicious taste. Additionally, this store has a dining area where you can enjoy your meal.

I stopped by Matsuya Super and bought some bread here. There were a lot of people lining up, as expected. I got the Kyoto Karune (230 yen), Ogura red bean (200 yen), Jumbo potato (330 yen), La Pomme (230 yen), Spicy cabbage curry dog (380 yen), and the Mixed sandwich beef cutlet & fluffy omelette (590 yen). The mixed sandwich here is always delicious and my favorite! The prices have gone up a bit, but it's understandable to maintain the quality. I'm happy as long as they keep up this level of deliciousness.

Matsuya Super 1F has a restaurant called Shizu. When paying with cash, you use the automatic payment machine. I received a paper point card where you get 1 point for purchases over 300 yen. I've been to many Shizu restaurants before, but I've never received one before! Maybe this Shizu restaurant gave me the card because there's no need to rush at the checkout compared to other stores. Shizu restaurants are often located in station areas or business districts, where speed is important. - Melon Pan 170 yen My husband reheated it at home and said it smelled good and looked delicious. - Long Dog 200 yen It's a corn-shaped bread with a wiener inside, topped with ketchup and a stick in the center. It's not spicy, and even children enjoy eating it. - Cheese Kalne 270 yen It needs to be refrigerated, but it's delicious when toasted in a toaster as written on the package. It doesn't work in a microwave. Toasting it gives a nice aroma and a chewy texture, and it was delicious. The cheese inside was cheddar cheese, and there wasn't too much of it, so it didn't overflow from the bread. - Retro Baguette Jumbo Ham 320 yen

This is the image of a bakery that is always found at the nearest station in Kyoto city. I bought bread at this store in front of Yamashina Station. The store was crowded with customers because there is seating available inside. I purchased 5 different items: sweet bean bun for 190 yen, mentaiko (spicy cod roe) French bread for 190 yen, white caramel roll for 180 yen, mini croissant for 210 yen, and beef cutlet & omelette sandwich for 560 yen. I couldn't resist buying the beef cutlet & omelette sandwich because the omelette was very thick, but it was difficult to eat. It was a slightly sweet omelette sandwich. Thank you for the meal.

I noticed that Shitsuya, a well-known bakery in Kyoto, has quite a few stores in the city. This particular store is located in the eastern part of Kyoto, near the Higashi-Meihan Kyoto Higashi Interchange. It is inside a supermarket with a second-floor parking lot, which was convenient on a hot summer afternoon. The bakery also has an eat-in area where you can enjoy their pastries. I tried their Cream Pan for 180 yen, which had a generous amount of cream filling. The cream seemed to outweigh the bread. If you love cream puffs, you should definitely try this one. I also bought the Salt Bread for 130 yen, as my daughter wanted to try it. It had a good balance of saltiness and butteriness. Lastly, I couldn't resist the Ultimate Grape Bread for 130 yen, as I love grapes. Each slice was carefully wrapped in a bag, and it was a thick, raisin-filled grape bread. It was a delicious treat.

I bought Shitsuya Karne and warmed it up in the oven at home. It was my first time trying it even though I've been in Kyoto for a while. It was delicious.

Located in the Matsuya Supermarket Yamashina Sanjo store on the first floor, right in front of the elevator from the parking lot, is Shizuya. You can easily stop by while shopping. I saw a sign saying "Introduced on Kenmin Show" and bought Carne for the first time. The sliced onions are not bitter and delicious. It seems that Carne has other flavors as well. There is also an eat-in space at the back of the store.

In Kenmin Show and other places, you often come across The Kyoto Pan. It's a bit pricey, but you can't help but buy it. This is a must-have item. I prefer the paper version of "Carne" for 180 yen over the standard version. The cheese version at 220 yen is a no-go. It says it's more delicious when warmed up, but personally, I prefer it cold. The crispy texture of the bread crumbs really stands out and tastes delicious. Another item, seems to be limited edition, is the "Crispy Ume Tartar Fish Sandwich" for 280 yen. Quite a bold item, with a challenging spirit. The crispy Ume Tartar has a pickled plum-like texture. It truly captures the essence of Kyoto. A bit pricey, but the breads are consistently good. Well done!

I'm Shin Uemon. My partner "Suzumebachi" has been in a bad mood lately due to issues like a damaged gasoline pipe and clogged carburetor. I tried some temporary fixes, but it seems like we may need to do a full overhaul. To cheer him up, I'll use this photo as the cover. Recently, I had some business in Yamaoka, Kyoto City, so I headed there with Suzumebachi. It only takes 45 minutes from Higashi-Osaka using the Keihan Line. It's fast. It would have been tough by car during the holiday season. I usually take the train when going to Kyoto, and I always buy a sandwich from Shitsuya on the way back. My grandfather always used to buy it on his way back from Kyoto. Speaking of personal matters, I went to the Kyoto Surugadai Prep School. It was fun back then. I used the Shitsuya café in Kawaramachi twice a week. Kyoto is a student-friendly city. I also went to a university in Kyoto, so I often bought it on my way back. Instead of taking it home, I would eat it with friends on the Keihan train. It may have been a bit rude, even in the special express car with cross seats. It's a nostalgic memory. A must-buy for me is the "Jumbo Potato." It has become my soul food. The texture and the way the mayonnaise soaks in are indescribable. And the pork cutlet sandwich. Can't miss it. I want to give a higher rating, but I always buy the same items at the same store, so I'd like to introduce the main store next time and give a rating. However, the shop assistant at this store unfortunately explained that they were sold out of bread products as it was just before noon, and that freshly baked bread would be available in 30 minutes. She was a young lady, but her manners were polite. OK! It's delicious. Really.

First of all, it's been a while since I posted. Shizuya, located inside Matsuya Super Yamaashi Sanjo store, offers not only takeout but also eat-in options. I often use it for a late lunch on weekends. I usually go alone, and since the eat-in space is small with about 10 seats, I recommend going with a small group. Shizuya is considered a long-established bakery. I have loved their beef cutlet sandwich since I was a child, and I also enjoy their carne and custard. I believe the beef cutlet sandwich set (with a drink) was 680 yen. As shown in the photos, the sandwich has cheese in between the beef cutlet, making it very satisfying and delicious. The coffee that comes with the set is also delicious and perfect for my taste. Eating in is available until 4:00 pm, so why not stop by before or after shopping?
