The tandoori chicken breast cooked in a tandoor oven was incredibly fresh and delicious! I didn't expect to find such amazing flavors at a curry restaurant. The sweetness of the onions and vegetables blended perfectly with the spicy curry. I added extra curry and upgraded to a large portion of basmati rice, and I left feeling completely satisfied!

The curry menu is arranged in order of spiciness. I ordered the Lamb Achari with naan lunch set. The lamb is an additional 200 yen. I also ordered a lassi and the lunch set. The naan was excellent. The lamb meat was in big chunks and delicious, with several spices mixed in.

You can't tell from the outside, but once you step inside, it has a chic and stylish cafe-like atmosphere. The first floor has only a counter, while the second floor has tables. Today's curry set included Pork Vindaloo, Plain Naan, and Rice. The pork was tender and the curry had a spicy kick to it, very delicious! The fluffy and light naan was also really tasty. The total bill came to 1,450 yen, which initially seemed reasonable. However, upon closer inspection, the normal set was 1,000 yen, and my order of a small Pork Vindaloo was an additional 200 yen because the naan was smaller. Since I couldn't just eat the spicy curry, I added regular rice for 250 yen. While the prices seemed affordable at first, in the end, you end up spending around 1,500 yen. Lesson learned! Thank you for the meal! ✨

The staff's training in India has ended and lunch has begun. This week's top spicy curries include Chicken Shakthi, Lamb Hyderabadi Korma, and Daal Bukhara (with Urad beans and ghee). The lamb curry had chunky pieces of meat and included cashews and almonds as hidden flavors. The spice flavor was elegant without being too spicy, and it was delicious. The Urad beans were creamy and exquisite, reminiscent of royal cuisine.

I received red wine and orange wine (made from white wine grapes). The chicken cutlet with gravy sauce was amazing. The crispy coating and juicy chicken were delicious on their own, but even better with the gravy sauce. The lamb was tender and easy to eat. The curry set allows you to choose the type of curry - I chose the mild bean curry. Ordering a la carte felt like creating my own mini course. I was able to meet the "Naan God" who appeared on TV. I hope for some blessings.

Let's go to aBu! Four people gathered in the rain, of course, to eat curry. Today's curry comes in three varieties. The spices are mild at first but kick in later. In order of spiciness: 1. Karachicken - made with plenty of domestic chicken. 2. Lamb - curry with young lamb. 3. Smokey Daal Makhni - made with 5 types of beans. We tried them all. Thank you for the meal!

I headed to lunch. The rice was already sold out. The members joining are different each time, so I feel like I'm the only regular customer. The curry changes weekly, so it's enjoyable. There was lamb after a long time. The spiciness comes later. The naan and lassi were also excellent.

Abu, who is rumored to have a strong obsession with curry, offers a fully reserved dinner experience starting at 6:00 PM for 5,000 yen. I was very curious about what kind of dishes would be served in this curry-themed dinner. As I admired the paintings hanging in the restaurant, I found a hint in a picture book placed on the table. The main curry dish was eagerly anticipated, but I couldn't remember its name. The first course consisted of four different appetizers, followed by a delicious wild boar curry for the second course. The fourth course was a fluffy curry bread that could be mixed with the curry. Each dish had a complex and distinctive flavor that showcased Abu's dedication to his craft. Just when I thought the curry would be served next, a thick venison steak arrived, which was incredibly tender and juicy. After feeling quite full, the next course featured three types of curry, half naan bread, basmati rice, and three side dishes. The staff inquired about the portion size, and I opted to enjoy everything. I learned that the half naan could also be taken home. Although I had been saving room for alcohol, I ended up enjoying all the dishes. Lunch guests can choose one type of curry, while dinner guests can savor three varieties, allowing them to experience the depth and differences in curry flavors. Lastly, I was served a unique dessert of spiced vanilla ice cream with dried fruits, along with a delicious cup of chai tea. The chai tea was also very enjoyable. I wanted to have wine, but the glass was priced at 900 yen, the same as beer. When I was told that a bottle of wine cost 8,000 yen, I decided to stick with delicious water for my second drink and beyond. After spending a leisurely four hours in this stylish restaurant, I left around 10:00 PM, feeling satisfied and relaxed.

Today, a friend who saw it on TV said they wanted to go, so we went. I chose Butter Chicken and Saag Kofta for today's curry. Of course, it came with naan, but I also added a small portion of rice. I went for the "extra large" Butter Chicken. It was absolutely delicious! The large smoked chicken pieces were so tasty and the butter flavor was amazing. The Saag Kofta curry, made with spinach and kale, had chicken meatballs in it. The spices spread throughout my mouth. Finally, I mustered up the courage to ask for the "Naan God's" autograph.

This is a lunch set introduced on KBS TV, which includes one curry, three side dishes with naan, and chai tea for dessert. Today's curry options were Butter Chicken, Saag Kofta, and Chicken Kichuri. Saag Kofta is a curry with greens and meatballs (chicken), with the spices becoming more prominent later on. Organic grape juice pairs well with the curry. The naan is exquisite, made daily by an Indian chef known as "God" by everyone.

I made a reservation to try the limited menu item, Kichuri, which is available only once a year. The Kichuri was like a seven-herb porridge, with a paste made from seven types of beans and vegetables. The Butter Chicken was deliciously creamy with lots of chicken enveloped in the aroma of butter. The Spare Ribs were expertly prepared by the Tandoori magician.

I had two types of white wine from Alsace, France. They were like rosé made using red wine techniques. This time, I had a Tandoori game course, featuring wild boar and Ezo deer. Tandoori is usually associated with chicken or lamb, so this creative twist was impressive. I would like to explore more Indian cuisine and Tandoori dishes in the future.

I always look forward to the weekly lunch menu. Today, I had oyster dashi bean curry and Kerala stew. I love naan bread, so I always go for the naan lunch set. Rice was sold out today, so I had lassi and cold-brewed Darjeeling tea. I finished with chai. I also ordered dessert, which was a smooth Japanese pear ice cream.

I went to lunch. The curry on the lunch menu changes every week. There is no extremely spicy option. All the curries are delicious, so it's perfect to share with a few people. The tandoori chicken and pork are also spicy and delicious, so I always end up ordering them. The side dishes of vegetables like jalfrezi, bharta, and chutney next to the naan and rice are also great.

The restaurant was full, but we were able to choose our favorite curries - "Chicken Vindaloo" and "Bean Curry with Clam Broth". There were three of us, and we asked the staff questions about the menu. The beans used were a paste of three types - mung, masoor, and lobia. The clam broth was made with clams. Upstairs, there were picture books from a publishing house called Tara Books in Chennai, India. The owner bought them. We look forward to trying a different curry every time we visit.

The magician of spices, the scent of spices from the entrance, a rumored restaurant in the imperial palace in the west. It is a North Indian cuisine restaurant. Since it is a stylish restaurant, I was curious about who the owner might be. In the kitchen, there were two Indian chefs and a male owner taking orders. They offer course meals, but reservations are required. Tonight, I decided to try a la carte. I only had the image of spicy spices, but the staff mentioned that there is a deep culture in India. There were three menu items marked with chili symbols, and I decided to try them without hesitation. Beer and wine go well with the food, making the alcohol go down smoothly. The staff were kind and explained the menu contents in detail. They seemed to be knowledgeable about Indian cuisine. I heard that they have study sessions and reflection meetings regularly. I decided to learn more about Indian cuisine before my next visit. It was a wonderful and meaningful encounter, like being on a trip abroad.

Date of visit: August 2022, weekday evening around 8:00 PM Number of people: 1 Reservation: Not required Bicycle parking: Available in front of the store (seems to be okay to park there) Parking: Not available Atmosphere: Suitable for solo diners, couples, not suitable for families with children, not suitable for large groups Approximate spending: Around 2300 yen I was looking for a place to have dinner and was in the mood for curry, so I was wandering around while searching various options online. There was very little information available, but there were a few curry restaurants nearby, so I thought I could try another one if this one was full. The sign was displayed outside the store, indicating that it was open, so I peeked inside. There was no one inside, and soft music was playing, and a staff member guided me to the counter. It seems they just started evening business this month. When I looked at the menu, beer was priced at 900 yen, which seemed a bit high. However, it only said "Draft Beer (Kyoto Brewing)" without specifying the type of beer. I ordered the beer and a 1500 yen curry set. There were various menu items with names that I didn't recognize, but the staff kindly explained them to me. The beer was served promptly. It was a strong IPA and very delicious, probably worth around 600 yen if purchased separately. However, for customers who are not familiar with beer, they might expect a pilsner when ordering draft beer, so specifying the type of beer would be helpful. Also, for those unfamiliar with beer, 900 yen might seem very expensive, so it would be better to indicate the special nature of the beer or offer regular beer options to increase sales. When the curry arrived, I was surprised by the small portion of curry and side dishes, but after tasting it, I understood. They seem to be very particular about the ingredients and cooking methods. Considering the atmosphere of the restaurant and the food, I felt that this place is more suitable for enjoying curry with drinks or wanting to satisfy your palate with a small but delicious meal rather than having a full dinner. In short, it's a curry restaurant for adults. I would like to visit again when I want to enjoy a quiet curry with friends or have a delicious curry while sipping on good drinks. The chai served after the meal was the best I've ever had. It was a fulfilling evening, thank you. I will come back again. Thank you for the meal.

I felt the charm of "Tandoori & Curry aBu", a authentic North Indian restaurant that brings a new breeze to the Indian curry and Indian cuisine scene in Kyoto. Previously, they were subleasing from "Itameshi Oliva" and have now opened their own store in the Gosho Nishi area, where Japanese owner and Indian chef offer a casual dining experience with curry, tandoori dishes, and alcohol. They serve lunch from Monday to Thursday, with curry as the main dish. On Fridays, they offer both lunch and dinner, and on Saturdays, only dinner is available, featuring not only curry but also tandoori dishes and alcohol courses to enjoy the essence of Indian cuisine. For lunch, you can choose from 3 types of curry to have with plain naan and mini rice. I ordered the Rajma Aloo (red kidney beans and potatoes) and the recommended Keema (minced meat) for 1100 yen including tax, and as I ate, I could taste the rich flavors with a deep umami taste of meat and vegetables, well-balanced spices without being too sharp, showcasing the skillful and elaborate cooking. The quality of the plain naan was also impressive, and the fact that it comes with mini rice was appreciated. Overall, while there wasn't a surprising impact, the satisfaction level was quite high, and the quality of the space was also memorable, not typical of an Indian restaurant. The gentle and pleasant male owner I spoke to and glimpses of the Indian chef through the curtain, as well as the positive impression of a young male staff member, all left a good impression. The first floor has a counter, and if you go upstairs, you will find a spacious table area. For lunch, in addition to curry, options such as Chicken Tikka, Tandoori Chicken, Lassi, and Chai are also available. For dinner, along with curry, tandoori dishes and alcohol course dishes are also prepared. I felt the potential and ability to raise the level of Indian cuisine and curry in Kyoto this time. Head to this authentic new restaurant where you can experience the cuisine created by a Japanese owner and an experienced Indian chef in a casual setting. Check their Instagram for the latest information. I hope that many people will visit this place.
