I love the hojicha tea "Kouetsu" from Ito Ryuouen Chaho, and I often buy tea for home use at the main store or after work at Takashimaya. This hojicha tea has a rich aroma and strong umami flavor, with a special feeling that is unmatched by others. I knew that it was also available at Kyoto Isetan, but personally I found Takashimaya more convenient, so I never went out of my way to visit Isetan. However, when I found out that there was a limited edition color only at Isetan on the tea canister of Kouetsu, my interest was piqued and I decided to visit Isetan. On the B1F, in the corner of the traditional taste section, there was a display labeled "Branch of Ryuouen," and although it wasn't a big display, I found the tea canisters of Ryuouen at the end of the aisle. The design of the Tsurezuregusa is the same, but with a modern color scheme. Since it was autumn, there were black and red cans available (usually they are brown). When I asked about the green color, I was told that it would be available in spring. Kouetsu (86g) costs 1,080 yen (tax included), which is the same as the regular Kouetsu, which was nice. I purchased the black and red cans for home use, and when I told the female staff at the store, she wrapped each can in wrapping paper and put them in a paper bag. I was very happy with the care taken to prevent the cans from scratching each other. The taste is the same as the Kouetsu from Ryuouen with the origami paper. While it is now possible to purchase it online, this limited edition color is only available here, not even at the main store or online. The cute Tsurezuregusa cans are perfect for home use, as well as for souvenirs from Kyoto or as gifts. I usually buy it in a bag and pour it into the cans at home, but I also want to get the green color in spring and display it. Thank you for the meal.
