The weekday night special of two complimentary dishes (quality... portion... completely satisfying) for only 680 yen is too good to pass up! I ended up ordering more because it was so delicious - draft beer and skewered cutlets. It felt like leaving after just that was not enough, so I added more to my order... I ended up spending around 1,000 yen in total. If this restaurant was near my home, I would probably end up visiting frequently...

I stayed in Kyoto outside of the city center for the first time and didn't have a plan for dinner. I found a nice-looking izakaya right in front of the hotel and decided to give it a try. Even though I didn't have a plan, it turned out to be a very budget-friendly place! The set menu included beer, 3 skewers, and 2 small dishes for only 680 yen! And the quality of the small dishes was really good. We also ordered additional skewers and other dishes, and everything was delicious. If this place was closer, I would definitely become a regular customer. We ended up spending 5,400 yen for 2 people, including 2 bottles of sake, 3 beers, shochu highball, and whiskey highball.

It's cozy and relaxing, and the food is delicious at a reasonable price! They are relatively friendly to families with children, and many families use this restaurant. They also have great value meal sets. ♡

The restaurant has a traditional Japanese exterior, which can make it a bit intimidating to enter since you can't see inside. However, I mustered up the courage to go in and was warmly welcomed. Inside, there are tatami mats and you have to take off your shoes right away. Smoking is allowed. I sat at the counter in a sunken kotatsu and ordered a beer. The kitchen is close by, giving it a lively atmosphere. They have a small selection of kushikatsu, but they cover all the essentials. In addition to the regular menu, they also offer monthly limited-time specials. The kushikatsu has a light and crispy batter, and you dip it in small dishes of sauce. Delicious! Kushikatsu and beer are a perfect match! The service is not overly enthusiastic, but they maintain a friendly distance. It feels like visiting a friend's house. It's a comforting place that makes you want to go back home. Customers range from college students to salarymen, families, and couples, showing that the restaurant is loved by locals. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal!

Tempura is 50 or 80 yen per piece and very reasonable. The 680 yen set is great, with plenty of side dishes. This is a place I want to visit regularly. The zucchini tempura was delicious.

I stayed at a hotel in Nishijin. I couldn't find any other place to have dinner, so I decided to eat here. The reviews said it was cheap, but maybe the prices went up? I didn't expect that. However, the food was quite delicious.

I found a great restaurant in Imadegawa, Kyoto called "Ninjin"♪ They have a fantastic evening drink set for 680 yen, which includes a choice of beer or chu-hi, 2 appetizers, and 3 kushikatsu skewers. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, with a shoe-free seating style and a mix of locals and tourists enjoying their drinks. The owner shared that it's a family-run business with a long history, offering affordable and delicious food like their unique kushikatsu. It's a hidden gem in Kyoto, and I'll definitely be back for more. Cheers!

I often stay at a ryokan in Kyoto, and this time I went to a restaurant recommended by the hotel staff. Nowadays, they offer draft beer for 400 yen. And not just during happy hour, but every day. I ended up going two days in a row because it was such a good deal. They had a set menu for 680 yen which included draft beer, two small dishes, and two skewers - very affordable. The dishes made with gluten and tofu skin were delicious. The zucchini tempura with plum sauce was also amazing! I think it was around 400 yen. Depending on how much you drink, you can have a meal for less than 3000 yen. Perhaps because there are universities nearby like Doshisha, there were many students and foreigners. Thank you for the meal. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again when I come to Kyoto.

Affordable and casual place to drink, highly recommended. The side dishes are delicious with a home-cooked flavor. The prices for alcohol are reasonable, and you can expect to spend around 3000 yen per person even if you drink quite a bit. I think this place is much better than going to a somewhat high-end restaurant in Kyoto where you might end up feeling disappointed. Although you may be tempted to go to Gion or Pontocho, you might find yourself thinking that you should have just stayed here instead. Highly recommended for those who dine out regularly.
