Located in a building on the second floor in a back alley near Honnoji Temple, this restaurant offers high-quality and cost-effective chicken yakiniku! I heard from a friend that there is a place where you can enjoy yakitori-style Takasaka chicken, so I made a reservation and visited right away. We tried various cuts such as thigh, wings, belly, skin, tail, gizzard, heart, breast, shiso tsukune, and seseri, and all of them were tender and juicy, especially the thigh and breast which were incredibly flavorful! They can be enjoyed with yuzu pepper and salt on the side. The side dishes were also plentiful, and the fried chicken was particularly delicious! It had a flavorful marinade and a crispy, fluffy coating that was so satisfying! The staff kindly taught us how to grill the meat and provided excellent customer service with a friendly attitude. As they only have two staff members on weekdays, the service might be a bit slow, but it wasn't a big issue.

The 10 kinds of assorted dishes were all fresh and very delicious. Even my daughter, who usually doesn't like liver, said it was delicious. The staff, although few in number, work diligently, so the dishes don't come out quickly like at izakayas, but everything is delicious. I would like to visit again.

We visited Shiroku-san for a wedding reception after-party with 20 people. We had trouble finding a suitable place in the Kawaramachi or Kyoto City Hall area, but Shiroku-san turned out to be perfect. The tatami room was spacious enough for our group, and we were able to enjoy grilling our own food on the shichirin. The staff were very accommodating and helped us out when we fell behind on grilling. The atmosphere was great, and the yakitori and other dishes were all delicious. The restaurant is run by a cool team of 3 staff members who provided excellent hospitality. We would love to visit again if we have the chance. The restaurant is located on the second floor in a stylish alley, which added to its charm. This was our report on Shiroku-san.

At a long-awaited gathering, we tried the charcoal-grilled chicken style at Shiraku, where you grill your own chicken. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor of a building near the Takase River, close to Kilfebon. They have tatami seating available, making it perfect for parties. Although the service was a bit slow due to being fully booked on the day we visited, the main dish of Takasaka chicken was very satisfying. There were also unique dishes like liver pate, which we unfortunately forgot to try. The juicy and flavorful taste of the perfectly grilled chicken was impressive. Overall, Shiraku offers a lineup that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and genders.

A rare chicken barbecue restaurant in Kyoto, Sanjo Kawaramachi, where you can grill high-quality Takasaka chicken and selected local chicken over charcoal grills. The Takasaka chicken, known as the only sterile chicken in Japan that is only distributed to trusted chefs, is extremely fresh and can even be eaten raw. The menu is à la carte, with the daily recommendations being served. The menu for this visit included Onion Slice with Egg Yolk Soy Sauce, Tomato and Mozzarella Caprese, Takasaka Chicken Sashimi Assortment, Takasaka Chicken Tataki with Grated Ponzu, Takasaka Chicken Seared Yukke, Steamed Chicken and Avocado with Sesame Salt, Tandoori Chicken "Chicken Yaki", Negi-Tan Salt Seasoned Thinly Sliced Breast, Bonjiri Chicken Tail, Seseri with Sauce, Salt, Chicken Cartilage, Fresh Liver, Tsukune with Egg Yolk Sauce, and Ultimate Egg Rice Bowl. It's a great place to enjoy fresh and affordable chicken dishes. It seems that a yakitori restaurant will also be opening soon, where skilled artisans will grill Takasaka chicken to perfection. Looking forward to it! Don't forget to save this place if you think it's a good one! ☝️

When you go up the narrow stairs, there are table seats and tatami rooms. We were guided to a tatami room, but it wasn't a sunken hearth, so sitting for a long time made our legs tired and our posture slouched. The yakitori here is cooked on a shichirin grill by yourself. There is a wide variety of chicken as well as other dishes, making it hard to decide. Both drink orders and food orders were taken at a very slow pace, making us feel a bit anxious that we were forgotten. They explained how to cook the meat, and it cooks faster than expected. The freshly grilled yakitori is incredibly delicious. It was worth the wait. We also ordered various side dishes, and the Unzen ham was really tasty. The experience of grilling on the shichirin is great, but it would be even better if the food was served a bit faster. Thank you for the meal.

A sister restaurant opened on the site of the renowned restaurant "Kyusan Yutori," where you can enjoy self-grilled skewers and excellent chicken dishes. The restaurant is named after the owner, Masahisa Shirakawa. The menu includes a wide variety of chicken dishes such as liver pate, oil-drenched chicken, and chicken miso with mountain pepper. The restaurant was fully booked, so we were seated at the counter. We ordered the following dishes:
- Grilled High-Saka Chicken Yukke (1100 yen): Perfectly grilled to enjoy the firmness and rareness.
- Tsukune with Egg Yolk Sauce (650 yen): Grilled slowly to absorb the charcoal aroma and served with a special egg yolk sauce.
- Chicken Thigh (600 yen): The crispy texture is addictive. Look for the small neon sign that says "Shiraku." Despite its hidden gem status, the restaurant was constantly receiving reservation calls.

I was curious about the restaurant where you grill chicken on a shichirin (charcoal grill). I wondered how long it had been since I last grilled on a shichirin, and I thought it might be a smoky place, but it was very clean and I was pleasantly surprised.
