Now, let's talk about Kyoto. The theme this time is discovering difficult-to-reserve restaurants of the future. The main event we visited was "Ricetta Hatten Nana," a 100-year-old townhouse building. When you take off your shoes and open the door, you are greeted by a sunken kotatsu-style counter, making you feel like you've wandered into a different dimension. The 13,000 yen course comes with a 7,000 yen wine pairing. The pairing consists of 100ml servings, equivalent to a full bottle. The selection of Italian wines and interesting Japanese wines was fantastic. - Cauliflower mousse from Yamada Farm with caviar: The rich cauliflower paired well with the caviar. - Kochi's fresh bonito with ginger sauce: Shows the chef's skill and is excellently executed. - Tartare of sweet shrimp from Hokkaido and short-horned beef: The sweet shrimp and beef match perfectly. - Tartufata made with eggs from Toyama's Hinai-jidori chicken and truffles: A Piedmont-style chawanmushi that pairs well with wine. - Fried eel from Shimane with red seaweed: The cheese and eel create a surprising combination. - Omi beef from Shiga: Delicious. - Iwate's Iwateyama village short-horned beef sirloin with black garlic: The black garlic is also tasty. - Eight varieties of mushrooms from Iwate's Hachimantai: Mushroom-flavored handmade pasta. - Pistachio ice cream and gâteau chocolat: Would have been perfect with espresso. All this for 13,000 yen is amazing. I enjoyed the straightforward pairing of delicious food and wine. This is why I can't stop exploring different restaurants. Italian restaurant in Kyoto. I found this place on Instagram a while ago and always wanted to go because the food looked so delicious. Surprisingly, we were the only customers on the last day of the Gion festival and the last day of the long weekend, so we had the whole place to ourselves. We pre-ordered the ¥13,000 corso speciale 8.7 online and decided on the drink pairing once we arrived. The chef used to work in Tokyo, so when he found out we were from there, he talked non-stop about a random neighborhood in Tokyo that even Tokyoites might not know. It was unexpected but fun. The food was all delicious, especially the pasta and risotto, which were my favorites. This place has become a must-visit whenever I go to Kyoto! The dishes we had that day were as follows: [uno] Kumamoto red beef, sweet shrimp, caviar, scallop, tomato, black truffle [due] Red snapper, watercress, sesame [tre] Egg, girolle mushroom, burrata cheese [quattro] Bluefin tuna, bisque, tomato [cinque] Tamba black soybeans, sake rice, pancetta [sei] Sweetfish, cucumber, fedelini pasta [sette] Seven-grain duck, black truffle [dessert] Crab, basil, pina colada gâteau au chocolat.

This Italian restaurant, renovated from a 100-year-old Kyoto townhouse, still maintains its original Japanese charm and could easily be transformed into a Japanese cuisine restaurant. The chef's creative dishes are a fusion of different cuisines, although he labels them as Italian dishes with a strong attachment to that style. The name "ricetta" means recipe. Upon entering, guests are directed to a tatami room which serves as a private dining area where shoes are removed. Towards the back, there is a counter and beyond that, a courtyard. The menu includes dishes such as short-horned beef tartare mixed with sweet shrimp, scallop mousse, ginger-flavored local horse mackerel, fruit tomato with mozzarella-like burrata cheese, square-shaped pasta with ayu fish, squid ink pasta with squid ink, shiitake mushrooms with pork and mussels, duck with asparagus, and a hazelnut gelato dessert. The dessert was served on top of a chocolate and coffee gateau with hazelnut gelato and nut chips. The chef, who also served the dishes, turned out to be the nephew of a well-known traditional Japanese restaurant in Arashiyama, which was a surprising revelation. The service provided by the chef or sommelier was friendly and contributed to the overall pleasant dining experience.

The Italian restaurant in the machiya district is easily accessible and a stylish place. Everything was very delicious, but the fish was especially good. I was very satisfied with the two types of pasta as well. The service was lovely and it was a fun time. It seems to be fully booked, but I would definitely like to go again.

Lunch at Italian-style Ricetta 8.7 in Kyoto was once again enjoyable and delicious. From the beginning, I loved the meat and sweet shrimp, and the rich buri (yellowtail) from Kochi was delicious. The tomato sauce with ginger was surprisingly tasty. The egg and truffle dish was good too. The icefish and chewy orecchiette with fermented sauce were amazing. Even though I usually don't like carrots, the carrot soup was surprisingly delicious. The Omi beef with tomato sauce was also very tasty. Even the offal, which I usually don't like, was delicious. The Nana-tani duck with pomodoro sauce was really good. The sauce was so tasty, especially with fresh tomatoes. The Mont Blanc dessert was just right, not too sweet, with a good meringue. Overall, the meal was delicious once again. I came back to this restaurant because I had a great time last time and the food was so delicious. Just like last time, everything was so tasty!! And chatting with the chef was really fun! I learned a lot about ingredients and cooking. We started with bruschetta with shirasu, followed by French ham, mackerel, turnip, anchovy butter, lobster bisque with white pepper, chestnut and cheese ravioli, deer meat pomodoro, and cheesecake. Everything was delicious!! The flow was great and the timing of the dishes was perfect! And the ravioli was so delicious! I really enjoyed it. Thank you for the wonderful meal! I will definitely visit again.

Today I had lunch at Ricetta8.7, an Italian-style restaurant that opened in January this year. I made a reservation for the mid-course in advance! I took off my shoes and entered with a smile. I sat at the counter and felt relaxed in the sunken hearth. The wine was selected based on my preferences, and it was a refreshing yet robust choice. We started with prosciutto and burrata cheese, followed by figs which paired deliciously with the salty prosciutto. The smoked alfonsino with nori vinaigrette sauce was perfectly smoked and had a nice aroma. The fatty alfonsino was amazing! The fried square beans, nasu eggplant, and chive flowers were delightful, especially the chive flowers which I also had on Monday and love. The monkfish was tender and chewy, and the sauce from Trapani in Sicily was deliciously fragrant. The octopus risotto was rich in flavor, and both my companion and I preferred it over squid. It was sad when we finished eating because it was so delicious. The short-horn beef with black garlic and sun-dried tomato sauce was incredibly tasty, and the eggplant had just the right amount of acidity. Mixing in the mustard with the meat made it even more delicious! The hand-cut tagliolini pasta with shirasu and karasumi was dangerously good and I loved it! The portion size was just perfect! For dessert, we had blueberry and yogurt granita and Basque cheesecake. The granita was endless and delicious, and the cheesecake had the perfect balance of flavors. It was all so delicious and exactly to my liking! The chef was also very friendly and explained the ingredients in detail, showing his passion for cooking. I will definitely visit again!
