I was really craving tapioca and was looking for it in Ueno when I came across this place. It seems that bean curd and grass jelly are more popular than tapioca here. I once had turtle jelly in Hong Kong, but it seems to be different as it contains milk and looks different. I was curious, so I ordered the second most popular grass jelly. The shop has two small tables for two people and a counter with three or four seats, a small eat-in space. Luckily, a table for two was available, so my friend and I shared it. The air conditioning wasn't working well, so we were sweating a bit. The dessert was slightly cold, with the grass jelly being a bit cool while the others were just slightly chilled. The taste was subtly sweet, and at first, I thought it was a bit bland, but as I kept eating, the milk started to color and it became more and more delicious. The chewy tapioca and sweet potato balls were not overly sweet, making it easy to eat. The portion was generous, perfect for sharing between two people. It was quite filling. It's healthy and guilt-free, and the deliciousness makes me think I might crave it occasionally.

*Waiting Time* Sunday 11:05, 2nd in line I was surprised to see quite a few customers coming to order right after the store opened. I had to wait a bit as the tapioca wasn't ready. Arrived at 11:15, finished eating by 11:30. *Order & Price* Custom Senkusa, tapioca, imoen, sweet potato balls - 946 yen *Atmosphere* There are both counter and table seating, but it's narrow. You can hang your belongings on the counter. The door is not closed, so it's hot inside. *Service* Various electronic payment methods are accepted. *Impression* The Senkusa has a gentle sweetness and a delicious chewy texture. The tapioca was slightly lukewarm, probably because it was freshly made. The portion size is generous but not overly large. The sweet potato balls have a pleasant earthy flavor. The imoen has a good elasticity, slightly gritty, and tasty. *Expectations* It would have been better if it was a bit colder.

I went to London Sports in Ameyoko and decided to also visit Kurokougo in Ueno. The shop was crowded with several customers waiting outside and all the tables inside were full. I ordered the Kurokougo 2, which includes grass jelly, sweet potato balls, taro balls, tapioca, and mini tapioca. Eating sweets usually makes me feel guilty, but the grass jelly seemed healthy and low in sugar, so the guilt was reduced by more than 50%. The tapioca was freshly made and warm, providing a variety of textures, mouthfeel, and flavors to enjoy. I don't remember the exact price, but I think it was around 780 yen including tax. The shop has a simple counter and table seating, giving off a local vibe. The customers and staff were conversing in Taiwanese, adding a touch of exoticism to the experience. I forgot to make a point card this time, but since I want to visit this shop a few times a year, I plan to make one next time.

After visiting the art museum in Ueno, I stumbled upon a Taiwanese dessert shop in the Okachimachi area. The shop was small with only a few seats. I love Taiwanese dessert tofu pudding (douhua), but this time I decided to try something new - grass jelly. I ordered the Black Kuroko 3 with red beans and Job's tears. The grass jelly was slightly bitter and sweet, similar to coffee jelly, and very delicious. It is said that grass jelly is used as a traditional Chinese medicine ingredient, so it might be good for your health. The grass jelly went all the way to the bottom of the cup, giving it a satisfying texture. It seems like a refreshing treat that can be easily enjoyed even when feeling summer fatigue.

I love grass jelly and turtle jelly. I have been going to this shop since it opened, but I stopped going during the pandemic. I tried going back the other day, but it was full of foreign customers so I left. Today, I decided to give it another try and luckily got a table. I ordered a No. 3 as a substitute for lunch, and the grass jelly was delicious. I also liked the texture of Job's tears and the red beans. I hadn't been in a while, so I was satisfied with the meal. Thank you for the meal.

I often go to this place when I feel like having a drink in Ueno! I really like the Black Sesame Milk here. This time, I tried the Coconut Milk, and it was still delicious as usual haha There are many different menu options, like tapioca and cheese foam toppings, so everyone can enjoy it! I usually don't get any toppings, but the sweet potato mochi-like topping is so delicious ✨ On this day, I went for a picnic with my friends.

After visiting Negishi Shrine, I decided to stop by Ueno and look for some sweets on Tabelog. I tried Taiwanese sweets for the first time. There were three young women who seemed to be Taiwanese enjoying the sweets before me. It felt strange to see Taiwanese sweets in Japan. I think it would have been better if it was more like jelly than tofu.

I ate too much marbled meat, so I need to balance it out with some traditional Chinese medicine ingredients. One option is the herbal jelly made from Xiancao, which is said to have medicinal properties. I'm not very knowledgeable about Chinese medicine, but I find the slightly bitter and distinctive flavor of Xiancao jelly to be quite healthy and delicious. I ordered a simple Xiancao jelly with taro topping (670 yen). It came in a bowl with a generous portion. The jelly had a smooth and slippery texture with a mild sweetness and subtle bitterness, making it easy to eat. The taro was sweet and had a good firmness, probably containing dietary fiber. I indulged in this dessert, using milk to gradually turn it into a slightly herbal-flavored treat. They say alcohol is the best medicine, so I also noticed that this place offers tempting options like tofu pudding and a variety of delicious drinks.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, I haven't been able to go to my favorite places in Taiwan and Cebu Island for several years now... I think it's about time to go. I went to Uenoyama to see the cherry blossoms, and my wife wanted to shop for clothes, so I decided to check out the Taiwanese dessert shop "Kuroku." It was still as popular as ever, with the small shop being full of people, so I went to the pachinko parlor to smoke a cigarette before returning to the shop. There was a counter seat available, so I ordered the "Douhua No.1" for 858 yen and took a seat. The taste was like eating tofu in sweet syrup, with peanuts, tapioca, and shiratama inside, similar to Japanese sweet red beans. I have eaten douhua many times in Taiwan, so it made me nostalgic and I felt like going back there after a long time.

I added black tapioca as a topping to the Douhua No. 2! The combination of tofu, tapioca, red beans, and sweet barley was really delicious. However, personally, I'm not a big fan of yams. This is a must-try dish as a palate cleanser after indulging in junk food in Ueno. The eat-in area is small and not very comfortable, and it gets full quickly during the day, so be aware! Overall, it's delicious, so I will definitely visit again!

Basically, it's a tapioca-focused shop, but they also offer Taiwanese shaved ice and lu rou fan. There is a small eat-in space available, so you can also dine inside the shop. They also offer delivery service, so you may have to wait a bit even if there is no line. Lunch set menus are not available on weekends and holidays. It's recommended for food hopping in Ameyoko.

Overall, the black sugar dessert costs 930 yen (excluding tax) and is an authentic Taiwanese sweet treat. It is delicious, but the portion size and value for money are not the best. There are limited options available. It would be nice if it could be served over shaved ice.

I found this shop on the way from Yushima Tenjin to a hot pot restaurant in Ueno, but I can't remember the name. I bought the drink = food shown in the photo. It's a dessert commonly eaten in China, and tastes similar to the ones there. It may not suit everyone's taste, but I think it's good.

I thought it was a shop for grass jelly and tapioca, but I never expected they also serve tofu pudding. Must try the taro pudding. Don't need tapioca. So I ordered the tofu pudding No.2. It was incredibly delicious! The tofu pudding, syrup, and taro pudding were all delicious. The portion was also generous. The syrup was a type without any strong flavor, so even my friend who doesn't like tofu pudding enjoyed it! This place is a must-visit again!

After eating a mookata hot pot, I searched for a dessert shop to visit. The cafes were not open at night, but this Taiwanese dessert shop was open until 10 pm, so I decided to go. There were about 5 people waiting in line, but the turnover was quite fast, so we were able to eat inside the shop. They have self-service water inside. - Douhua No.1: 700 yen - sweet potato, taro, tapioca, peanuts - Douhua No.2: 650 yen - sweet potato, taro, red beans, Job's tears Both dishes had douhua (tofu pudding) as the main item with different toppings. There wasn't a significant difference in taste between the two. You pay with electronic money before receiving your order, and you can also earn T-points. When the dishes arrived, they were quite large, almost like a rice bowl! We ordered two for three people, but one would have been enough for two. The douhua was soft and creamy, with a subtle sweetness. If you prefer a sweeter taste, go for No.2 with red beans. The texture of Job's tears was also nice. By the time we left, many items were already sold out. It's a refreshing and cold dessert, perfect for summer. They also have lunch options for a reasonable price.

There are two Taiwanese dessert shops in Ueno, Soto Tofu at JR Ueno Ecute and Kurokougo. Although there should be a shop selling Taiwanese castella somewhere, I couldn't find it. Soto Tofu, directly connected to the station, had a wait of 5 groups, so I decided to come to this shop in Ameyoko. It's a small shop of about 2-3 tatami mats with only 3 counter seats and 2 table seats. I ordered the basic warm tofu pudding for 600 yen with toppings of mini taro and red beans for an additional 150 yen. You order at the counter outside the shop and then find a seat. The seating is limited, so you sit wherever there is space. After about 5 minutes, your number is called and you go to the counter to pick up your order. The warm tofu pudding was a bit lukewarm and the tofu was soft and fluffy. The mini taro was easy to eat but lacked flavor. The red beans were lightly sweet. Overall, the flavors were on the mild side. Personally, I prefer a sweeter soup. Thank you for the meal.

Grass jelly for 450 yen with sweet potato balls topping for 150 yen. The grass jelly is mildly sweet, while the sweet potato balls have a distinct sweet potato flavor. Very delicious. I would like to have this combination again next time. The mango coconut drink was on the sweeter side. It had small tapioca pearls which were delicious. The eat-in space is small with about 7 seats. There are discounted lunch menu options on weekdays.

As a Taiwanese person, I crave for Taiwanese sweets when I miss Taiwan. The staff at this shop are Chinese, but the taste and ingredients are definitely Taiwanese. I ordered the Black Sugar No. 2 with additional white balls, and also got shaved ice. The sweet potato and taro mochi were really chewy and delicious. The seasoning was not too sweet, making it easy to eat. The weather was nice, making it perfect for post-lunch sweets. I'm grateful that there is a shop near my house where I can enjoy this.

The tofu pudding with grass jelly, tapioca, and mung beans cost 600 yen. It was cheap! It had just the right amount of sweetness and was delicious. There was plenty of tofu pudding in it. The grass jelly was tasty but surprisingly had a mild flavor. Maybe because it's in Japan? The tapioca was firm and tasty, just how I like it. The mung beans still had a nice texture and were delicious!

I found this shop while searching for places where I can eat douhua because I love it. The dessert was simple yet flavorful, without any extravagance. I especially liked the topping of Job's tears that added a nice texture. It's great to have a healthy and delicious dessert option like this!
