This is a supermarket in Mukou City. It is known for selling bamboo shoots. The store "Kisetsukan" across the street is currently selling a large quantity of bamboo shoots. The supermarket has a parking lot next to it. The products for sale are quite unique compared to regular supermarkets. It felt like a first-time experience with a variety of original items. The bread seemed to be baked in-store and was fluffy and chewy. They also offer small portions of packaged meat and vegetables which is nice. I wish there was one like this nearby.

There is a café inside the store where you can enjoy set meals, noodles, cakes, drinks, and more. I ordered the combo set meal. The café has counter seating and table seating, and there are also supermarket sale flyers placed in the café.

The restaurant was selling grilled bamboo shoots for 1000 yen at the department store basement in Shijo-Karasuma for a limited time. After seeing an article about a Kyoto bamboo shoot restaurant in the morning paper, I was subconsciously drawn to it. I was persuaded by the aggressive salesperson and ended up making a cashless payment during the time sale. I wondered what I would do with the leftovers the next day as I received the bamboo shoots in a free paper bag. Back at the hotel, I peeled them and found that while they shrink in size, there were differences in tenderness and juiciness between the two shoots I selected. Some parts closer to the skin had a slight bitterness, but overall, I enjoyed the rustic flavor.

Kanzaki-ya offers bamboo shoot rice during bamboo shoot season, and I didn't miss the chance to buy it. Since there weren't many available, I was desperate to get some. The bamboo shoot rice is delicious, of course. I also got some grilled bamboo shoots made from freshly picked bamboo shoots. Lucky me. Bamboo shoots are fresh and tasty, a true delight of the season.

It was June and quite hot, so I stopped by this supermarket to cool off. As I looked around, I saw some delicious-looking tomatoes. When it's hot, we naturally crave cold treats like ice cream, but foods like tomatoes and cucumbers that cool the body are effective. It was so hot that I bought a tomato and ate it while walking. I often do this when traveling, but it was my first time doing it during work. I didn't feel a cooling sensation since my body was likely storing heat, but at least my stomach was fine.
