During this season, I visit this cafe once a year. It's a beautiful place with a Japanese garden. There were many desserts sold out around 3 o'clock, but the taste is elegant and delicious. I received a discount coupon, so next time I will try the steak too!

First visit. A shop near Nanzenji Temple. I have been curious about this place for a few years and was looking forward to it. I wrote my name at the reception and waited. The staff came to check on me a few times but didn't say anything, so I ended up waiting for 15 minutes. Finally, I was led inside and the view was even better than I expected, I was satisfied! Next time, I want to enjoy the atmosphere while having a meal. Maybe the receptionist should try to talk to customers more?

Near Nanzen-ji Temple, there is a shop where I entered right at the opening time of 11:30 on a holiday. I was seated at a very nice counter with a great view. The counter was spacious enough that I didn't feel cramped. I had cold udon with beef and Kujo green onions, and the noodles were chewy and the meat was well-seasoned and delicious.

If you happen to visit Kyoto, Nanzen-ji, and don't want it to be too crowded, I recommend enjoying delicious sukiyaki while looking at a beautiful garden. The individual pot means the amount of meat is small but high quality - thin and tender, easy for older people to eat. Rice is ordered separately, and the rice bowl is small, only about half the size of a regular teacup. With the tasty egg and sauce, I wish they would give a bit more rice. For those wanting more food, you can order additional items like meat udon. I visited three times this month for customer meetings and the staff were all friendly and refreshing like the young maple trees in the garden.

Located within the grounds of Nanzenji Temple in Kyoto, you first admire the garden before heading to the entrance. Inside, the space is spacious, with a beautiful view of nature from the counter where you can enjoy your meal. We had a delicious sukiyaki hot pot with A5 rank Wagyu beef and vegetables cooked on a shichirin grill. The meal was enjoyed at the counter with a great view. The beef and udon noodles seem to be their specialty, so I would like to try the udon next time.

It was delicious! I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. I visited around 11:30 on a Friday. The restaurant was very quiet due to the rainy weather. Even Nanzen-ji Temple was surprisingly empty. Normally, it's crowded on Fridays, but it's said to be extremely busy on weekends. Reservations seem to be available only for set courses. The food was delicious and amazing. I had the black wagyu and Kujo green onion udon, as well as the roast beef bowl, and ordered three types of desserts. The udon had more volume than it appeared and filled me up. I heard you can also order tempura chikuwa separately, so I'd like to try that next time. The roast beef bowl was tasty but a bit lacking in quantity. However, the presentation was lovely and after having dessert, I was very full. The restaurant has a garden on the premises, and dining while enjoying the beautiful scenery is fantastic. The prices are reasonable, and I definitely want to come back again.

<Gourmet Expedition 2023 Kyoto Edition #2> A tea house and dining place located right in front of Nanzenji Temple in Kyoto. During the New Year's season in Kyoto, places like Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple are extremely crowded, but Nanzenji Temple is still relatively quiet, making it a hidden gem for sightseeing. However, we still had to wait for about an hour before getting a seat. If you visit during the off-season, you might get seated much faster. We sat at the counter on the first floor. It would have been nice to sit on the second floor with a better view, but it was too crowded. Still, we enjoyed the view of the Kyoto-like garden from the counter. We ordered a plate of three desserts and matcha milk. The cake changes daily, and on this day, it was a creme brulee cake. The plate also came with ice cream, red bean-filled pastry, and matcha pudding. Everything was delicious, and we were able to leisurely enjoy our time. Nanzenji Temple is a recommended temple to visit, so if you go, be sure to check out this cafe as well!

Near the Sanmon gate of Nanzenji Temple. Pass through the round entrance and proceed while looking at the garden on your left. The approach has a charming atmosphere. The spacious interior allows you to view the garden from any seat, but the narrow spacing between seats was a downside. I had a dessert set, the cheesecake was average in taste. The monaka ice cream was delicious with a moderately sweet red bean paste. The udon that the person next to me was eating looked delicious, so I definitely want to come back next time for a meal. It is a shop that conveys the atmosphere of Kyoto, with a certain level of food quality and reasonable prices. They also have children's udon, which is convenient for families with kids. It is a recommended restaurant where you can bring friends or visit for sightseeing without disappointment.

The seat with a view of the garden with autumn leaves was lovely, and the udon was delicious, but the operation was disappointing. There were empty seats and lots of people waiting, but the floor staff seemed busy and unable to handle the situation properly, fumbling while serving the udon, etc. It's recommended for those who can take their time for lunch.

After strolling around Nanzen-ji Temple, we decided to have lunch here. Since reservations are not accepted, we had to wait in line. We took off our shoes and went through the garden to reach the entrance, where we signed in at the registration desk and waited in chairs. By 12:30, there were about 6 groups ahead of us in line. After waiting for about 40 minutes, we were seated inside. The hotel's breakfast was amazing, so we weren't very hungry. We ordered "small udon" and "warabi mochi," both of which were delicious. We enjoyed our lunch while looking out at the garden and left feeling very satisfied.

Kyoto, Nanzenji #PR❇ Only those who have seen this post can book this course for a limited time ❇⤴⤴⤴⤴⤴⤴⤴⤴⤴⤴⤴ Tairiki-tei @tairikitei A mansion with a garden located within the grounds of the popular spot "Nanzenji" in Kyoto. Now, the trendy "Tairiki-tei" on SNS. A cafe and yakiniku restaurant in a non-daily space. It's too happy to encounter such a wonderful and photogenic place. Enjoy the luxurious time and space brought by the changing seasons in the best mansion where you can have a meal. I want to come here once every three months. It's also nice to quietly stand in a hidden place. The course meals are also rich, and each dish looks delicious. The dishes we had today were also amazing. The Chateaubriand spread happiness in the mouth. Rice, kimchi, and soup also soothe the heart. Having a meal while looking at the garden in front of you really makes your heart rich. Thank you so much for giving us such a wonderful experience. If you come to Kyoto, you must check this place. The upscale residential area in Kyoto was very quiet with many lovely mansions. I saw a mix of high-end and regular clientele, but the service was good, especially with foreign staff members working hard. However, I was a bit surprised when my plate was taken away while I was still eating haha. The meat was delicious. Thank you.

After exploring the Kyoto Ceramic Museum and Kyoto City Zoo, we visited a charming restaurant called "Dairyoku-tei." While their udon noodles are famous, we opted for another specialty, the course menu (reservation required). We reserved the "Chateaubriand Course (13,000 yen)" which was a bit pricey but highly recommended. The restaurant was a splendid mansion with a garden, and we were led to a separate building called "hanare." It had a tea party vibe with 180-degree glass windows that offered a bright and open atmosphere. All seating was at the counter, with a gas stove placed at every second seat. We didn't cook the food ourselves like in a yakiniku restaurant, but left it to the staff (as expected for a course menu). We started with a glass of Highball with Ballantine (700 yen) to toast. The first course was a salad with fresh vegetables and a Japanese dressing. The Chateaubriand Course included the following: - Black Wagyu A5 Chateaubriand - Salad - Kimchi - Rice - Soup - Dessert The main attraction was the Chateaubriand, a beautifully marbled piece of beef that melted in the mouth without the need for a knife. It was tender and flavorful, served with cabbage to prevent burning. The rice, made from a premium Gifu rice called "Ryuno Me," was sticky and sweet, prompting us to ask for seconds. The kimchi side dish was also delicious, with a mild spiciness and crunchy slices of yam. After enjoying the course, we moved to the "Daihiroba" on the second floor, another glass-walled space with a view of the Japanese garden and waterfall. It was a serene setting to savor the dessert.

Full bloom cherry blossoms in Kyoto city, strolling the popular sightseeing route with my princess from Ginkakuji Road to Philosopher's Path to Nanzenji to the Incline. As part of our walk, we visited the previously frequented "Daianen" which has apparently changed owners and undergone renovations, now renamed "Dairiki-tei." The entrance remains the same as before, with a round gate on the Nanzenji side leading to a corridor that offers a view of the famous garden before reaching the entrance. While the main entrance looks grand, both entrances maintain a good atmosphere. Inside, the renovation is impressive with a spacious hall that now features a counter. The beautiful Soryu garden remains, although the view may be different now due to the changing times. The garden, designed by the landscape artist Ogawa Jihei, is worth admiring slowly. Taking photos of the food, you can see the garden naturally reflected in the background, creating a borrowed landscape effect. Today, we opted for desserts as we had already eaten our meal. I had the "Baked Apple with Vanilla Ice Cream" for 800 yen, while my princess had the "Rich Crème Brûlée" for 700 yen. The baked apple dish came with a whole apple and vanilla ice cream on top, which melted slowly creating a delicious combination of sweetness and acidity. My princess enjoyed the rich custard cream with a caramelized surface in her crème brûlée. Both desserts were satisfying and disappeared quickly. The place, being tourist-friendly, adapts to the changing times while preserving its history. I hope they continue to maintain the beautiful garden and historical charm. The spacious and beautiful Otemaeshi area remains unchanged, a reminder of its past as a wedding venue. I heard that the second floor has been converted into a café as well. I look forward to visiting again and hope they preserve the traditional tatami rooms in the detached area, offering a unique dining experience with a view of the garden. It's a perfect blend of old and new that I hope they continue to maintain.

The black-haired wagyu beef was very tender and delicious. The egg over udon noodles had a balanced flavor and was easy to eat as a finishing dish.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice, especially the garden. I had the burdock tempura udon. The noodles were not great, the broth was okay. I wish there was more burdock flavor in the tempura.

The location and building space are good, but the restaurant seems to specialize in steaks. However, as a first-time visitor, I decided to try the udon noodles as a light meal. The udon noodles were a bit soft, not quite reaching the texture of Ise udon. Also, the noodles were unusually long. Even the recommended steak course includes udon noodles at the end. I was hoping for a leisurely time at the lovely counter with a view of the garden, but the constant walking and noisy footsteps of the staff behind me made it difficult to relax. The staff's appearance was not in line with the traditional Japanese setting, with one even having green hair. The service was lacking, with staff members appearing bored and unengaged. When I tried to pay with a card, I was told the payment had to be processed in the office, leading to a long wait. Despite the nice ambiance, the lackluster service made me question if this restaurant is more suited for foreign tourists. If you visit, it might be best to stick to using the cafe area for a better experience.
