Today's lunch was at "AGAN ASIAN DINING RESTAURANT & BAR", an Asian cuisine restaurant located in Ukyo-ku, Kyoto. It is situated across from the down line ticket gate of JR Hankyu Electric Railway Arashiyama Line's Uzuki Station, with a stylish exterior that lacks an ethnic feel. The interior is also stylish, resembling a cafe. The menu includes sets of Indian curry, with the unique offer of one free refill of plain naan. In addition to Indian cuisine, they also offer Thai and Vietnamese dishes. I opted for the "White Gapao Rice" priced at 1250 yen (1200 yen for the opening commemoration). The table setting is simple, with only a knife and fork provided, no spoon. Soon, soup and salad are served, followed by the main dish. The appearance is typical of ethnic cuisine. The salad is ordinary, while the soup is rich in flavor. The White Gapao Rice, as the name suggests, has a whitish appearance, similar to curry but not as soupy. The rice is cylindrical, topped with a perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg. The dish has a mild spiciness, with a creamy and coconut milk base, making it easy to eat. The paprika pieces are large. According to the staff, the White Gapao Rice is a standard dish in its home country, prepared with the same ingredients as Gapao Rice but with the addition of heavy cream, milk, and coconut milk. The chef received approval from locals after training in the country. You can enjoy authentic Asian cuisine approved by locals in a convenient location.
