At Nishiki Market in Kyoto, I had some dango at Gomafukudo. I chose the simple mitarashi dango from the various options available. It had a chewy texture and just the right amount of sweetness. I took a break at the eat-in corner and enjoyed it with hot tea. It was delicious.

This is a store located in Nishiki Market. They have sesame products displayed at the storefront, and inside the store, you can enjoy freshly made snacks using sesame, such as sesame dumplings. I purchased the Kin Goma (ground sesame seeds) 80g for 540 yen. It was delicious as before, I bought ground sesame seeds. Compared to the supermarket products, the aroma is wonderfully good. It is obvious when used in dishes like sesame salad. I enjoyed it deliciously this time too. Thank you for the meal.

I walked around the city, sticking to shady spots on this hot day. It had been a while since I visited Kyoto, and even longer since I visited Nishiki. I found a shop where I had bought black sesame seeds during a fair at a department store before. I bought the same sesame seeds again. I'm not very knowledgeable about these things, but they seem to use really good sesame seeds. My wife was very pleased with them, which is proof of their quality. Thank you very much.

This is a store in Nishiki Market. I noticed the "kin goma" displayed at the storefront and decided to stop by. Inside the store, the staff was cooking something, so I peeked and saw delicious looking dango! So, I decided to try the freshly fried dango skewered with sesame seeds in the eat-in area. The sesame accent was delicious. It's perfect for a snack. When I asked, I was informed that the "kin goma" that caught my eye was on sale, so I bought it. It really has a great aroma, and the taste is completely different from regular sesame seeds, making dishes even more flavorful. Highly recommended. Thank you for the meal.・2 dango skewers for 230 yen・Kin goma (3 packs) for 1080 yenTotal: 1310 yen

The store is located closer to the Kinkaku-ji Temple side of Nishiki Market. They offer a variety of sesame-related food products. Inside, there is an eat-in space where you can enjoy soft serve ice cream and fried foods. Due to the impact of COVID-19, the gold sesame croquettes were priced at 100 yen each, so I bought two for dinner! It was a bit crowded, and they informed me that it would take 6 minutes, but they fried them on the spot, so they were delicious. The inside sweet potato part was ordinary, but the outer coating had a slight sesame flavor, giving it a crispy and fragrant texture that was delicious! The plastic bag at the checkout cost 1 yen. Other products were also discounted, with various items being half price.

There is a rule in tourist spots, right? "Eating while walking" is okay, but "walking while eating" is not allowed. "Eating while walking" means going to various shops in the city and enjoying a variety of foods! Let's follow the rules and enjoy "eating while walking" properly! I visited Gomafukudo Nishiki Market Store. The main attraction here is the "sesame dumplings." There are two types: "Kin Goma Dango" with camembert cheese and "Kuro Goma Dango" with black sesame paste. I tried the Kin Goma Dango with camembert cheese and it was delicious! I also tried the Kin Goma Onion Soup, which was warm and flavorful. I couldn't resist buying some more sesame products because I love sesame! In the end, I have no regrets as I am a fan of sesame. The Kin Goma Dango with camembert cheese was especially delicious! Gomafukudo Nishiki Market Store, your sesame dumplings are a must-try!

I bought various sesame products such as sesame dressing and sesame soft serve at a shop in Nishiki Market, Chukyo-ku, Kyoto. They have a variety of sesame products in addition to sesame seeds. I found a sesame furikake with soy sauce flavor that was well-seasoned and versatile for dishes other than rice.

In December, I went on a food tour in Kyoto starting at Nishiki Market, known as Kyoto's kitchen. After grabbing some sushi at the standing sushi bar "Ei," I visited a sesame shop called "Kine-tsuki Goma Fukudo." Here, they sell various sesame-based foods like sesame dumplings, black sesame soft serve ice cream, beef croquettes with gold sesame, black sesame rice crackers, and gold sesame soy sauce mochi. I tried the gold sesame soy sauce mochi and black sesame rice crackers. The mochi was soft and topped generously with gold sesame, creating a delicious sesame flavor. The rice cracker had a crispy and fragrant exterior with a flavorful black sesame filling. Both were really tasty.

At Nishiki Market, there are surprisingly few dango (rice dumpling) shops. This shop offers black sesame dango, which is slightly grilled and has a savory taste. The trendy beautiful sweet red bean paste is also delicious. It's a good choice for souvenirs! (^3^)/

I tried the sesame-flavored karinto and soft serve from Gomaya-san? Both had a rich sesame taste, truly showing the expertise of the specialty shop! Thank you for the delicious meal! (^^)

Despite the cold weather, my daughter begged for sesame soft serve ice cream. It was a bit challenging to eat with the sesame seeds falling everywhere, but it was incredibly delicious! It was also convenient that you could eat it from inside the cone.

When you visit Nishiki Market in Kyoto, make sure to stop by this shop. They may have branches in various locations now or even sell online. Their most recommended item is the "Gold Onion Soup for ¥860". You can try a sample inside the shop, so be sure to give it a taste. I casually walked into the shop and tried a sample, which instantly captivated me. Since then, I always end up purchasing it. When in a rush in the morning, I simply pour hot water over it in a bowl, add a bit of water, let it cool to a drinkable temperature, and gulp it down. It really wakes up my stomach and makes me feel refreshed. You can also add ingredients to make a luxurious soup. It's like magic powder for deliciousness. Definitely worth buying.

Located north of Kyoto's Shijo Street, Nishiki Market is a bustling shopping street lined with shops that attract people from all over the world. On this day, the market was so crowded that it was difficult to walk straight ahead. While strolling through the market, I stopped by a specialty sesame shop in the middle of the shopping street. Although primarily a retail store for sesame products, they also offer hot snacks made with sesame, such as the limited edition black sesame curry bread. I decided to enjoy it inside the shop, as eating while walking in the crowded market street could inconvenience other pedestrians. The shop had benches for customers to sit and enjoy their food, along with a notice asking customers to refrain from eating while walking. The black sesame curry bread I received was unexpectedly large, measuring 22cm in length. It was generously coated with black sesame on the surface, giving off a fragrant aroma. When I took a bite, I was surprised by the juicy and slightly spicy curry filling. The curry was packed from end to end, making it a substantial and satisfying treat. After enjoying the bread, I continued my exploration of Nishiki Market, admiring the various sesame products available in the shop, which seemed like healthy and delightful souvenirs.

Sesame specialty store in Nishiki Market. They have classic products like "Mortar-ground Sesame" using sesame from Turkey, but they also offer simple finger foods for sale. I want to review the "Sesame Cube" 680 yen that I bought at this store because it was delicious. "Sesame Cube Gold Sesame" is a paste made from sesame, shaped into dice size. It is lightly sweetened and is a sesame dessert that allows you to taste the deliciousness of sesame straight. "Sesame Cube Black Sesame" is made with black sesame, but the taste is significantly better in the gold sesame version. Both can be used in cooking, such as for spinach sesame dressing. By the way, I also bought the finger food "Sesame Dumpling Soy Sauce Flavor" for 130 yen and ate it in the store, but this one may not be as good. You can get plenty of sesame, though.

Kimon Market has a lot of pickles and vegetable shops, but not many sweet shops suitable for souvenirs. I usually buy souvenirs at Isetan or inside the station before taking the Shinkansen, but I was still looking around just in case. I passed by a sesame specialty store and decided to go in. The staff offered me some samples, which were delicious, so I ended up buying the following items:
- Black Sesame Cubes 20 pieces for 650 yen
- Gold Sesame Cubes 20 pieces for 650 yen
They explained that about 95% of the ingredients are sesame, with the remaining percentage being honey and oligosaccharides, and there are no harmful substances in them. The cubes are moist and crumbly, with a subtle sweetness. The black sesame cubes have a slightly bitter and rich flavor, which is more popular. They come in large pudding cups, so I put them in my bag and sent them by courier, and they didn't break. They may take up space, but they last for over 2 months, making them convenient as souvenirs. I was disappointed to find out from the leaflet I picked up after purchasing that they have stores in Sugamo and Kamakura, but the person I gave them to was happy, so it was all good. After that, I visited the Shokado Tea Room under Daimaru.
