I visited the restaurant around 4:00 pm on a Saturday holiday. I waited in line for about 15 minutes before entering the store. Once inside, I bought a meal ticket and took a seat. I had a matcha parfait, and I was surprised by how well the ice cream and mochi went together. It was delicious.

I ordered cream anmitsu and a coffee float. It came with complimentary green tea. The cream anmitsu was pretty average, maybe because my expectations were high. The coffee in the coffee float tasted like packaged key coffee with ice on top. It was a classic flavor. The free cold green tea was a nice touch, but it was a bit weak in flavor and didn't really help with the heat. I probably won't be coming back.

Before accounting. I decided from the window case outside before entering. I almost forgot the menu name haha. It was nice that they served green tea instead of water. It wasn't crowded on a weekday lunch, so it was a calm space. The atmosphere was nice without being too noisy. The shiratama (rice flour dumplings) were soft and I liked them! Thank you for the meal.

I love the traditional atmosphere of old-fashioned shops, so whenever I go to Asakusa, I end up going to Umemaru. The cream anmitsu, awazenzai, and mitarashi dango have the same comforting taste. It reminds me of the old Japanese-style cafes back in my hometown. Maybe that's why I like it so much.

I wanted to have some sweets in Asakusa, so I looked it up and found Umetsu-en where I could try anmitsu and Awase Zenzai in addition to other options. I ordered the matcha cream anmitsu and Awase Zenzai. The matcha cream anmitsu tasted as expected, delicious. As for the Awase Zenzai, I wasn't sure what to expect and thought it might be very sweet based on its appearance. The Awase Zenzai served was hot, and it went well with the sweet red bean paste and brown sugar mochi. I was worried it might be too sweet, but it wasn't overly sweet. The texture of the mochi and the flavor of the red bean paste were very delicious and addictive. It was a satisfying dessert experience.

[Waiting Time] Visited around 4pm on a holiday. There was no wait, but the place was almost full. Purchased food tickets first and was guided to an available seat. [Awazen-zai] Ordered the recommended top menu item, the Awazen-zai. It arrived in about 5 minutes. It was my first time trying awa, but when combined with the sweet red bean paste, it had just the right amount of sweetness and a mature flavor. Quite delicious. The red bean paste was smooth and satisfying on its own as well.

◇Visit Date: Around 10:00 AM on a Saturday in August ◇Crowdedness: Not crowded ◇Ordering Method, Speed of Service: Pay at the entrance, about 5 minutes ◇Taste: "Awazen-zai" - Mochi rice cake half-cooked and steamed, carefully cooked sweet red bean paste. It has a gentle sweetness that is just right and easy to eat. It may seem like a small portion, but it is filling and satisfying. It's a dish that you might crave occasionally. ◇Price: Reasonable ◇Customer Service: Average ◇Payment Method: Cash

I visited around 3 pm on a midsummer afternoon. I was able to enter the shop without waiting in line. I purchased a meal ticket at the entrance and was then guided to my seat. Today, I decided to have "Awase Zenzai" since the morning. It was a warm, chewy, and gently sweet treat that left me completely satisfied in that relaxing afternoon!

This is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop in Asakusa. It was founded in 1854, so it's been almost 170 years. My wife loves dorayaki, so I bought it as a souvenir. They offer two types of dorayaki: "Red bean paste" and "Chestnut sweet potato". Both look delicious, but they are large in size, so I only bought one today. The dorayaki with red bean paste costs 297 yen. It seems they use red beans from Hokkaido. The skin is moist and fluffy, and the red bean paste is generous. The red bean paste is sweeter than I expected. It was truly an ideal dorayaki. Thank you for the meal.

It was hot, so I ordered "Ice Anko and Cream Anmitsu". The cashier asked me if I could eat it because it's a lot of food and might upset my stomach. I replied, "Yes, I will eat it." She told me to wait in front of the wall menu. After a few minutes, both desserts arrived. The Ice Anko had dried apricots on top of ice, apricot syrup on the side, and the Cream Anmitsu had a large mochi ball, two canned mandarin oranges, red bean paste, and black honey on the side. The red bean paste had a hint of saltiness to balance out the sweetness.

In the strong summer sun, I stumbled upon this shop while walking. I wanted to cool off, but when I looked at the menu, there were many sweet options, all looking delicious. It's a long-standing shop in Asakusa, so I had to go in. They had shaved ice, red bean soup, sweet bean paste, ice cream, and everything looked so good. I couldn't decide what to eat. In this season, shaved ice is recommended, and the mango shaved ice had large mango chunks on top, which was irresistible. I also wanted to buy red bean soup or dorayaki to take home. Everything looked delicious and didn't disappoint. Truly a oasis for me in Asakusa. I definitely want to come back.

When it comes to sweets, I think of Asakusa and Ueno. I tried the matcha anmitsu at a long-established sweet shop in Asakusa founded in 1854. It was cheap and delicious. If you come all the way to Asakusa, I recommend trying a traditional Japanese sweets shop.

After watching a performance by the Shochiku Opera Company, I went for tea. The old-fashioned way of receiving tickets with cash, the small tables, and the nostalgic atmosphere were all very pleasant. The staff were friendly and I really like the old town vibe. I had dessert at a different place for lunch, so this time I went for shaved ice. I chose mango flavor. The red bean paste is famous, but I always used to give the beans from anmitsu to my mother, so I chose not to have it this time. It's been a while since I visited the main store. The Nakamise shopping street has been renovated and there are more Instagram-worthy dessert shops around Sensoji Temple. However, Umeen has remained the same, giving a sense of comfort and simplicity.

This summer feels especially hot. While taking a stroll in Asakusa, I suddenly felt thirsty and craved something cold. I remembered that my mother used to enjoy the azuki red bean soup from Umemaru. The display window was filled with tempting sweets, making it hard to choose. This time, I went with the Cream Shiratama Anmitsu. The harmony of cream and red bean paste, along with the softness of the shiratama, was exquisite. Paired with cold green tea, it was a refreshing oasis where I could take a breather.

While sightseeing, I felt really hot and wanted to eat ice cream! I found this Dorayaki Soft serve right in front of me. When I saw the shop, I realized it was Umeen, so I immediately purchased it. The matcha flavor has a strong tea taste and is delicious! Also, the benefit of the Dorayaki cone is that it absorbs the melting ice cream, so my hands didn't get messy at all while eating. The Dorayaki itself is sweet and tasty, with a satisfying portion size. There are also red cloth chairs outside the shop where you can enjoy the ice cream while feeling like you're at a tea house.

I visited Asakusa for the first time in July. It was mostly tourists, with about 90% being foreign visitors. Asakusa is definitely a must-visit spot for tourists coming to Japan. Many people were walking around in yukatas, creating fun memories before returning to their home countries. There are many traditional sweet shops in Asakusa, but the most historic one is not "Bayen" as I thought, but actually "Umezono." I visited the main store to try their traditional sweet red bean soup, but it was crowded with foreign tourists. Before trying the red bean soup, I visited Bentenzan Miyake Kojusu, a sushi restaurant known for its classical Edo-style sushi. Just like that restaurant preserves the tradition of sushi, Umezono does the same for traditional sweet red bean soup. I experienced the original taste that many shops across Japan have imitated. Tastes change with time and age, but the significance of these classic shops lies in faithfully preserving their original flavors. While I have my favorite red bean soup shop, it was a meaningful experience to return to the roots and appreciate the traditional taste.

I was looking forward to the traditional sweet red bean soup from this long-established shop, but when I got home and tried it, I noticed a strong smell of agar agar. It was disappointing because I had been looking forward to it. I understand that they may have been using the same method for many years due to their long history, but because they are a well-known shop, people's expectations are high. I hope to continue enjoying delicious food from them in the future.

I went to Asakusa aiming for Kameju, but the long line made me give up. Instead, I bought some dorayaki as souvenirs. It's great that you can buy them without waiting in line. The dorayaki cost 297 yen each. I think that's a bit expensive for a dorayaki, but there are even more expensive ones out there. The size is about 10 cm in diameter. The skin has a perfect dorayaki texture, moist and dense. The skin itself is not very sweet. The filling is red bean paste with distinct beans. It's sticky and slightly sweet. When eaten together with the skin, the filling lingers in your mouth. I had the image of Umeen being known for their anmitsu, but their dorayaki is also pretty good. It's not from that famous shop, but my wife was pleased with it. Phew!

Senso-ji Temple and Nakamise Street in Asakusa are bustling with school trip students and foreign visitors even on weekdays. However, this particular shop had mostly elderly Japanese customers. The shop specializes in sweets, so the tables are small and cute. If two big guys sit facing each other, it looks like they might start arm wrestling!

I purchased this dorayaki at the Nagoya Takashimaya event space. The large and dense dorayaki has a soft and moist outer layer. The red bean paste inside is also moist and pairs perfectly with the outer layer. It is sweet and satisfying, making you feel very happy after eating one.
