[Gion, Kyoto] As soon as you step into the shop, the sound of the koto resonates, the scent of tatami mats, the warmth of the hearth, and the sunken hearth welcome you, encapsulating the best of Japan. The renovated old house with high ceilings and a calming atmosphere adds to the charm. Today, we enjoyed the popular "Nanakorobiyaoki Set" ❤️❤️❤️ It included kusadango, shiratama dumplings, sweet rice cakes, and yatsuhashi, and Megu's favorite fu was also included. Megu's top 3 favorite foods include rice cakes, so she was thrilled! The contents of the Nanakorobiyaoki Set are as follows: The "Ishiyaki Kyodango" is made by cooking the anko in a stone pot and adding freshly boiled shiratama dumplings. They are made with the finest shiratama flour, joshinko, and haneji mochi flour, and tofu from "Chiyodofu Store" in Gion Miyagawacho is used as a binder. What a dedication to quality! The tofu used as a binder for these shiratama dumplings gives them a healthy and creamy texture, and the hot anko sauce complements the chewy dumplings perfectly. The anko comes in 6 flavors, and Megu chose the most popular mitarashi flavor, while her husband chose honey almond milk, which had a subtle sweetness and almond aroma. The "Irori Yaki" included homemade dumplings, Kyoto-style nama-fu, agemochi, and nama yatsuhashi, all of which had a delicious, natural flavor. The dumplings were tasty on their own, but dipping them in the anko sauce elevated them to heavenly levels. The option to choose from 6 types of Japanese tea was a fun experience, with Megu choosing roasted mugi-cha and her husband choosing Uji yabukita sencha, both of which were sweet and delicious. Even on a hot day, the tea was exceptional. The name of the shop, Nanakorobiyaoki, is great, and the staff are all very kind and lovely!
