While walking in Kitayama, I discovered a newly opened restaurant. This place used to be where Jinroku (a soba restaurant) was located. Recently, I only visited Jinroku once a year or so. Initially, before the renovation (over 15 years ago), Jinroku was in a house and always had a line of 30 to 40 minutes on weekends. After the renovation, it disappeared, and now a new soba restaurant has opened in the same location. Curious, I decided to go in.
The lunch sets include:
Mackerel Sushi Set - 1980 yen
Tempura Set - 2520 yen
[Order] Mackerel Sushi Set
The soba is made from soba flour from Hiroshima Prefecture. Tasting it, it somewhat resembles Jinroku? (kind of). The scent of soba is subtle. The texture and smoothness are good, indicating its quality. The French salt used after the meal is delicious, as mentioned. I regret not trying it. The salt has a hint of sweetness and a good texture, which I think goes well with soba. The mackerel sushi, which I love, is not too thick but has a good amount of fat and is delicious with the kelp seasoning. The rice is slightly fluffy, with a hint of warmth still remaining. The vinegar is lightly applied, giving it a nice finish. The tofu skin sauce is a bit sweet but gooey and tasty. The small dish, a commemorative dish for the opening, was made with tofu, cucumber, and myoga, which was nice. Finally, the soba soup. Huh? This is Jinroku's soba soup, isn't it? (laughs: unconfirmed). It's very thick and gooey. It's thicker than any soba restaurant I've been to. It was delicious to drink it with the French salt as an accompaniment! Even though the name Jinroku has changed, I'm glad that the taste is still like Jinroku. (kind of) Thank you for the meal.
