一粒の歩
I've been really into meat lately, so I decided to check out a new place called "Niku Baru" in Kiyamachi, Kyoto. They use locally sourced meat and vegetables from Kyoto, so I was curious to see what they had to offer. I always thought that a meat bar would have a Western-style vibe, but here it was spelled in hiragana, so I wondered if it was really a bar. I took the elevator up to the 3rd floor and entered the restaurant, which had a chic and stylish interior with a predominantly red color scheme. Since I arrived late, there were only about three other groups of customers. When asked if I preferred a table or a tatami room, I chose the latter for a more relaxed experience.
Looking at the menu, I noticed that they were very particular about using locally sourced ingredients from Kyoto, including drinks like local beer, wine, and sake. They also offered a variety of meats such as Tajima black wagyu beef, Kyoto red chicken, Tanba momiji (deer), Botan (boar), and Kyoto duck. The main attraction seemed to be the charcoal-grilled dishes, along with salads made with Kyoto vegetables and side dishes like fried chicken made with local chicken and pork marinated in miso. They even had horse sashimi and ostrich, although they were not locally sourced from Kyoto.
I started with a toast of local beer, which had a rich and satisfying taste. For food, I ordered:
- Ostrich carpaccio, which was surprisingly delicious and flavorful.
- Horse sashimi, because I always enjoy raw meat.
- Pork marinated in miso, which changed my opinion about this dish.
- Grilled beef harami, which was incredibly tender and tasty.
- Assorted grilled meats (beef, pork, chicken), which was a great value for the quality and quantity.
- Grilled deer, which was recommended rare and surprisingly had a delicious flavor without any gamey taste.
As we ran out of beer, we decided to switch to red wine from Tanba. It had a unique taste and aroma that was quite memorable. The meat was delicious, and the drinks were satisfying. I wanted to try more types of meat, but we were too full to continue. The only downside was that the side dishes were a bit limited. Overall, it's a great place for meat lovers to visit. I'll definitely be back when I crave meat again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.
