I always passed by the front of the store on my bicycle and noticed a sign that said "Delicious Food Restaurant," so I was curious and decided to try it for lunch. It was past 1 pm, but the inside of the restaurant was almost full! Truly a delicious food restaurant, I thought to myself. I ordered the Kourin set meal, which came with tempura and sashimi. Both were delicious, but the portion size was lacking. Well, for 1200 yen, I guess it's okay. As someone who enjoys hearty meals, I felt a bit unsatisfied.

You can enjoy Japanese cuisine in a calm atmosphere. It was my first time visiting, and we ordered a la carte instead of a course menu. (There were 3 of us, and we ordered sashimi platter for 2, tempura platter, conger eel tempura, yuba porridge, salmon tea pickles, dessert, and drinks, which came to 12,000 yen. It was reasonable^ ^) The quiet interior is perfect for enjoying a meal leisurely and having conversations. (The photo shows sesame tofu and sashimi platter as appetizers)

Wednesday, 13:06, I went to have lunch at Hikarin-san's restaurant. I had been wanting to come here for a long time, so I finally made it. I sat at the counter seat and ordered the sashimi and tempura set meal for 1,200 yen. You could choose between shrimp or pike conger for the tempura. The tempura included pike conger, lotus root, shimeji mushrooms, green peppers, and pumpkin, so it was quite a generous portion. The sashimi consisted of tuna and white fish, which made me very happy. The side dishes included konjac and kinpira, making the meal very satisfying. It was a late lunch on a weekday, so there weren't many customers and I was able to eat leisurely. Thank you for the meal.

This is a Japanese restaurant located in Miyanokawa-cho, one of the flower districts. Despite being near Gion, the quiet and elegant streets are a must-see. Originally a teahouse, Kourin has been renovated, so when you enter, you'll be surprised by how spacious it is. There are counter seats, four sunken kotatsu-style tables for four people, and small private rooms for small gatherings. I visited during lunchtime. The lunch at this restaurant is very reasonable, whether you just want a meal or want to enjoy some drinks. I ordered the "Joraku-dai" and "Sashimi and Tempura Set" from Sasaki Sake Brewery, the family of Sasaki Kuronosuke. The side dishes are also well-prepared, so the cost performance is very good. As someone who enjoys drinking, I can be picky, but the drinks here passed with flying colors. I had beer and sake, so the total cost was as indicated, but without alcohol, the lunch is only 1200 yen. It might be enjoyable to visit while exploring Miyanokawa-cho.

I was walking from around Shichijo on the Keihan line looking for a cafe, and ended up near Hankyu Kawaramachi. I got tired from walking and searched for a place to have dinner. I ended up visiting this restaurant. They had a lot of a la carte options, but we decided to go for the 5000 yen course for two. We had a glass of Shirakiku sake and a glass of Konteki cold sake. The hostess was very cheerful and friendly, engaging in conversation with us. The food was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I found a new restaurant while the one I wanted to go to was unexpectedly closed. The smell of yuzu was amazing as soon as it was brought to the table. The sashimi was beautifully presented on ice, even though it was only a 1000 yen lunch. The tempura bowl was 900 yen. As expected from a Kyoto cuisine restaurant, they were very particular about the taste and it was excellent. The restaurant had heated floors and clean bathrooms. I will definitely go back again. I had visited this restaurant once at night before my visit in March 2021, but due to timing issues, it had been about a year since my last visit. I was able to visit during lunchtime on the weekend. The interior had been renovated in April 2020. While the tatami seating remained the same, the other seating options such as table seating and counter seating were all clean and well-maintained. I was seated at the counter. The menu was completely different from the one at night, so I had a hard time deciding, but I ended up ordering the Tori Sansho-age set meal. The family-run restaurant staff worked diligently without any waste, and they were very considerate, apologizing for any wait in between. It was a busy lunchtime, so I had to wait a bit, but they had confirmed when I entered that there might be a short wait, so it was not a problem at all. The crispy fried chicken was coated in a sweet sauce and sprinkled with sansho pepper, leaving a lingering sweetness and delicious flavor. The portion size was generous. The side dishes and miso soup were also delicious. The taste and portion size were very reasonable for the price. It's a great value for money. I would like to continue using this restaurant in the future.

It was delicious! I visited on November 28th. The restaurant had sunken kotatsu tables which kept our feet warm, and the atmosphere was fantastic. I tried the limited 10 servings only Tai Chazuke set meal, and it was really delicious. As you can see in the photo, there were many toppings! The broth alone was comforting and delicious. The menu even had instructions on how to eat it, which was very helpful.

I had a lunch with tempura and sashimi. It was very reasonable and the side dishes like pickled vegetables were delicious. They also offered seconds of rice, but I was too full to have more.

There is a cozy izakaya in Miyagawa-cho in Gion. They offer lunch menus, and there is a wide variety of dishes available as set meals. They have both counter seats and sunken kotatsu seating. Smoking is allowed.

A restaurant with high cost performance both during the day and at night. It's a rare find in Gion.

There is absolutely nothing to complain about. The taste of the dish and the price at this place are perfect. Thank you very much.

Tempura rice bowl for 1100 yen, it's delicious and comes in a generous portion. The location, atmosphere, and service are all very good overall.

I came to this restaurant recommended by a friend. The "sea bream tea pickles" were delicious. The landlady was kind and said, "It's hot outside, so please take your time."

Located in the flower district of Miyanokawa-cho in Kyoto, this restaurant is a cozy house with 6 counter seats, 3 sunken tables, and a private room for about 10 people. The atmosphere is more like a family restaurant than a traditional flower district dining place. The management is also run by a family. The cuisine leans more towards izakaya style rather than traditional kaiseki, but the cost performance is quite good, making it wallet-friendly. It's a place where you can relax with acquaintances rather than for VIP or business entertaining purposes.

We visited from Shizuoka, Nishinomiya, and Kyoto. Since we wanted to try something Kyoto-style, we chose this restaurant, "Korin," for the second time based on a recommendation from a friend in Kyoto. They accommodated our request for Kyoto specialties, including sweetfish and conger eel, in a 4200 yen course menu. The taste and atmosphere were so good that I would like to bring another friend here next time. The only downside was that the seats by the aisle were a bit uncomfortable as there was no place to lean back. We will visit again in September when we are in Kyoto!

It was my first meal in Gion, Kyoto. I had the impression that it might be difficult to get a reservation, but I was pleasantly surprised. The proprietress, the young proprietress, and all the staff were very welcoming and friendly! The Kyoto kaiseki meal was reasonably priced, and each dish was delicious and made with care. I could feel the hospitality in both the food and the service. They even took special care of us because it was a special occasion. I was so moved! I want to invite my friends and visit again. It's now my favorite place.
