During my break, I went to Kyoto with my wife, parents, sister and her husband, nephew and his wife, and niece - a total of 9 people. We stayed at this inn for one night with breakfast included. The inn was a traditional Japanese-style ryokan located in the city center of Kyoto, with a great communal bath. Breakfast was served in the underground dining area. It consisted of a bento box with octopus and mentaiko, grilled fish, and hot tofu, along with a variety of side dishes like salad, hijiki seaweed, and sautéed burdock. You could also help yourself to rice and miso soup. There were also options like bread and fruit, probably for international guests. It was a buffet-style breakfast and I ended up eating too much as usual. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I went to a certain travel agency and tried to book an inn in Kyoto, but all the places were fully booked even on weekdays ( ̄◇ ̄;) Hmm... I was in a bind, but I was told that there was one place available near Karasuma Oike Station! The budget, location, and atmosphere all seemed good, so I made a quick decision☆ The inn is located near the center of the city, right next to Rokkaku-do. The staff at the inn welcomed me with a lovely smile and immediately carried my luggage to the room. Their hospitality was amazing!! When I was shown to my room, they served me kelp tea and tea snacks were rice crackers and matcha chocolate. It was very soothing~ Truly Kyoto's hospitality. I had dinner in the room. The presentation was splendid, making me feel the autumn vibes. The Kyoto cuisine I wanted to eat was satisfying. (^ ^) It's not just delicious, but rather elegant in taste. The breakfast was served in a large hall, and the hot tofu was very delicious. The bath, room, food, hospitality, everything was perfect! By the way, the outdoor bath is available until midnight. It was empty around 11 pm, so I had it all to myself (≧∇≦) A milky bath that shines in 7 colors. It blew away all my fatigue!

"Kazuki" is pronounced as "Kazuki". It is an inn located in the center of Kyoto with convenient transportation to anywhere. It seems to be popular among school trip students, but the facilities inside the inn are elegant and sophisticated. Everywhere you look, you can feel the thoughtfulness put into it. The rooms are clean, and the baths are relaxing and satisfying. Now, it's time for dinner. You can enjoy it in your room. The dishes served are beautifully arranged. The dishes are also served in stylish containers. Although the portion of each dish is small, the taste is excellent. The gentle seasoning does not overpower the flavor and aroma of the ingredients. I was able to fully enjoy Kyoto cuisine. The "Hoba Yaki" in particular was exquisite. There are many inns in Kyoto, but the quality of "Kazuki" is on par with luxury ryokans.

In March 2013, I moved to Iwate, so I can no longer make it an annual tradition, but I stayed overnight during my visit home this time. Until the last minute, my friend's schedule was not confirmed, so I had to adjust the reservation dates a few times, causing some inconvenience, but they guided me to a corner room. After sightseeing in Kyoto, this time I finally got to soak in the new outdoor bath that was built underground! On this day, the silky bath was warm and soothing, despite the cold outside, it was quite relaxing. We requested dinner at 7:30 pm. The meal included appetizers, sesame tofu, sashimi, grilled fish, trout, duck dumplings in sauce, tempura, clear soup, pickles, rice, dessert, and as always, the variety and taste were excellent! It had been 2 years since my last visit, but I indulged in the fruit platter service again this time. After dinner, I enjoyed the baths on the 3rd floor and relaxed in the massage chair. The next morning, I visited the morning bath, and the baths for men and women are different in the morning and evening, and there was a standing bath in the morning. Breakfast was a half-buffet style, with dishes like hot spring tofu, salmon salad, grilled fish, soft-boiled egg, stewed dish, salad, potato, udon, miso soup, pickles, rice, and drinks. I enjoyed breakfast and once again felt like I wanted to live here and didn't want to leave as I checked out. It was raining quite heavily, and I had a small carry-on bag, but the staff at the ryokan provided a large plastic bag to cover it so it wouldn't get wet. I truly appreciate their attention to detail and care. I haven't been able to visit again since then, but I have recommended this wonderful ryokan to my family. Thank you so much!

When it comes to ryokans in Kyoto, it often seems like you have to choose between a large, impersonal hotel where school trip students stay, or a high-priced, traditional ryokan with outdated facilities. However, Ryokan Kage Tsuki is a rare find - it's reasonably priced, has great facilities, and offers a satisfying experience. Located conveniently in the city center, they even offer free parking if you let them know in advance. The highlight of the facilities is the large communal baths, with both indoor and outdoor baths for men and women. Despite being in the city, they even have a garden in the outdoor bath area. The meals are also a standout feature - they serve traditional Kyoto dishes with generous portions, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. And the best part? On weekdays, you can stay here for just under 10,000 yen. It's a steal compared to the high prices at traditional ryokans where you might end up with a tiny private bath. They also have banquet rooms available, with karaoke allowed on a first-come, first-served basis. Whether you're traveling solo or in a group, this is a ryokan worth checking out.

In August 2011, I revisited with my usual friends during the summer vacation season. Once again, we were graciously upgraded to a special room, the "Koshoin," by the inn as a service, just like the last time! This room was so luxurious that it almost felt like a waste for us. We were shown to the room, which had two beds and a TV on the lower floor, while the upper floor was a Japanese-style room. They even laid out futons for us in the Japanese-style room, allowing us to experience a sense of luxury. We decided to relax in the hot springs first, but to our surprise, the underground bath was under maintenance that day. We ended up going to the usual hot spring, which we had all to ourselves, and I couldn't help but take many photos. Dinner time at 6 pm was something we were looking forward to. The meal consisted of various dishes such as appetizers, sashimi, vinegared dishes, steamed dishes, grilled dishes, tempura, somen noodles, soup, pickles, rice, and dessert. It was a feast centered around the delicious eel, a specialty of Kyoto. After dinner, we relaxed in the hot springs before retiring to bed for the night. The next morning, we enjoyed a half-buffet breakfast, followed by a day of sightseeing in Kyoto. We returned to the inn in the evening for another delicious meal at 7:30 pm. The dinner included appetizers, sashimi, sesame tofu, shabu-shabu, yudofu, and dessert. The shabu-shabu was especially delightful, with generous portions of the same delicious meat we had tried before. After dinner, we relaxed in the hot springs again before retiring to the Japanese-style room for the night. The next morning, we had another half-buffet breakfast at the inn before checking out. Overall, it was a satisfying two-night, three-day stay with great food and excellent service. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

In December 2010, my husband and I decided to spend New Year's Eve together, and I recommended staying at this ryokan. Despite the fully booked situation and being on the waiting list, the ryokan kindly contacted us when a cancellation occurred, and we immediately accepted the offer. We were grateful for the upgrade to a beautiful room in the Hana Den building. The room, named "Futari Shizuka," was lovely and perfect for two people. For dinner, we enjoyed a kaiseki meal with seafood shabu-shabu, sashimi, walnut tofu, assorted appetizers, fish, simmered yellowtail, pumpkin, vinegared dish, and more. The meal was accompanied by a drink service, and we received tea bowls as souvenirs. We also had a fruit platter as a complimentary treat. We celebrated New Year's Eve with soba noodles at midnight and then visited Yasaka Shrine for hatsumode. The next day, we had a traditional Japanese breakfast with New Year's dishes and then enjoyed sightseeing in Kyoto. In the evening, we attended a tea ceremony at the ryokan and later indulged in a luxurious dinner with abalone steak, assorted sashimi, crab, tempura, and more. The highlight was the delicious tuna sashimi. We also had a drink service with hot sake and orange juice. The following day, we had another Japanese breakfast with salad, grilled fish, onsen egg, tofu hot pot, miso soup, rice, and pickles. Overall, our New Year's stay at the ryokan was delightful with the special meals and activities provided. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

It was a year since my last visit in August 2010, as promised. This time, I was guided to a room on the top floor with a garden attached~! Since I came without having lunch, I first enjoyed a room service dinner ♡ ● Grilled fish wrapped in magnolia leaf, edamame tofu, somen noodles, sashimi, assorted appetizers (bamboo shoots, corn omelette, conger sushi, side dishes, simmered dish), grilled ayu fish, pumpkin, tempura, yuba soup, pickles, rice, dessert - all were plentiful and delicious, filling me up completely! And as a regular guest service, I received a fruit platter even more luxurious than last time (゚Д゚;) I enjoyed the bath, sauna, massage chair, and went to bed content. For breakfast on the second day, it was a buffet style this year ♬ ● Rice, rolled omelette, scrambled eggs, sausages, ham, grilled salmon, cold tofu, miso soup, pickles, natto, drinks - there was a good variety and everything was delicious (´▽`*) After exploring Kyoto, we relaxed in the hot springs before dinner. For multiple nights, the first day was kaiseki cuisine, and the second day you could choose from kaiseki, shabu-shabu, or sukiyaki. Since it was Kyoto, I requested kaiseki cuisine again on the second day. ● Assorted appetizers (eel liver, chimaki, kazunoko, eel and burdock roll), fried eggplant and yuba, sashimi, shabu-shabu, noodles, edamame potatoes, grilled fish, tempura, soup, pickles, rice, dessert - shabu-shabu was included in the kaiseki cuisine, and the meat was incredibly delicious! I slightly regretted not ordering shabu-shabu, but everything in the kaiseki cuisine was delicious, so I was completely satisfied with dinner ♡ After enjoying the hot springs, breakfast on the third day was also a buffet, with a similar menu. The natto here was really delicious, and when I found something similar at the supermarket later, I couldn't help but buy it. Haha, it was another satisfying 2-night, 3-day stay! Thank you for the delicious meals ♡

In August 2009, I visited the Ryokan Kagetsu in Rokkaku Street, Kyoto. I have been visiting this ryokan almost every year since I was a third-year high school student, but this time I returned after a two-year hiatus for a two-night stay. The staff recognized me and thanked me for returning after two years, which was a nice touch. The ryokan is conveniently located near a shopping street, making it easy to access by train, with convenience stores and supermarkets nearby, making it convenient for sightseeing. The atmosphere of the ryokan is great, and the service provided by the proprietress and maids is excellent. The room rates start from 16,000 yen per night, which I consider reasonable for a ryokan in the heart of Kyoto. Check-in is at 3 pm and check-out is at 10 am, and while there is parking available, it is limited, so taking the train might be a better option. On the day of my visit, they were doing interior renovations, so they offered me a complimentary drink during dinner as an apology. The dinner was served in the room, and the various dishes were delicious and plentiful. After dinner, the futon was laid out, and then a maid came to the room and surprised me with a fruit platter as a service for regular customers. I love such thoughtful gestures. There are two hot springs on the property, and I particularly enjoyed the mist sauna. Although there is no outdoor bath, there is a massage chair near the hot springs where I could relax. Breakfast was served in the dining hall, with a cozy Japanese-style meal including grilled fish and hot pot. The dinner on the second night was different from the first night, and although they mistakenly brought the same dish as the previous night, they quickly rectified it and the meal was still delicious. Overall, I had a satisfying two-night stay with delicious meals and relaxing hot springs. As I left, the staff expressed their hope to see me again next year, making it hard to say goodbye. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality!

There is a lunch plan that includes a private room meal and bathing based on the number of people. You can choose hot pot dishes in winter. I visited during the mid-autumn holidays. Kyoto Station and the subway to Karasuma Oike were crowded with people... Walking through the noisy streets near the restaurant... But as soon as I stepped onto the property, it felt like a different world. There is a condominium next door, but I didn't even notice it. Maybe it was because I received a confirmation call the day before, but as soon as I entered and announced my name, I was smoothly guided to the room. No wasted time, nice feeling. In the room, I was served a hot towel and kelp tea. The basic idea is to take a bath before the meal, but this time I had it after eating. Yukata and towels are provided. I had a mini kaiseki meal. I couldn't resist having a beer during the day. It must be amazing after a bath. They also serve water sweets and dessert. Coffee or tea is included as well. I was happy to have coffee after the meal. The bath is an artificial hot spring, small but with a nice atmosphere. There is also an open-air bath. I took my time with the meal, so I felt a bit rushed in the bath, but I used the private room until the last minute.
