I went to the Akiyoshi Kawaramachi store from 17:00 to 23:30. It was a popular restaurant and the inside was full! On a Sunday evening, I visited this restaurant with friends. We tried to make a reservation on the same day but were told that weekend reservations were not available, so we went directly to the restaurant. As expected, it was a popular place and the inside was fully packed. We had to wait for about 30 minutes outside. The restaurant is non-smoking, which added to the cleanliness and we noticed a few groups with children. The prices were reasonable and we were quite satisfied. The yakitori was delicious, and it was clear why this place is so popular. This is how a yakitori restaurant should be.

Today, I visited Mr. Akiyoshi in Kawaramachi, Kyoto! I often visit the Kyobashi, Kouri-en, and Umeda branches. Today, because it was a holiday, they opened at 4 pm, and I entered as soon as they opened, but it was already full! I'm hooked on Akiyoshi's yakitori that I eat at the counter. My favorites are "wakadori" and "shiro & grilled rice balls." The seasoning of the grilled rice balls varies slightly depending on the chain store, but... Thank you for the meal!!

As soon as the restaurant opened, it was immediately packed with customers. A friend brought me here because I love yakitori. The small-sized pieces of meat are delicious, so you can eat a lot of them. I thought I might get full quickly with a set of 5 skewers, but the small size and great taste made it easy to eat plenty. You can dip the grilled meat in sauce or mustard, which is more like yakiniku sauce than yakitori sauce. It was delicious, especially with garlic added. It's rare to dip it in mustard, but it's light and not too heavy, which is nice. The alcohol kept flowing and I ended up drinking too much. You have to be careful not to drink too fast while eating at the same pace. Instead of slowly enjoying the food as a side dish, it felt more like gulping down food and beer.

♡ [Akiyoshi Kawaramachi Store] ♡ A lively and bustling restaurant ♥ ♡ Do you know the restaurant called "Yakitori Meimon Akiyoshi"? If you don't know, you are seriously missing out on life! Akiyoshi started as a small 4-tatami mat shop in Fukui Prefecture and has now grown to 111 stores nationwide. Everyone in Fukui knows its name. The yellow plate in front of you contains spicy mustard, while the blue plate contains a secret sauce. The mustard is quite spicy, so be careful if you have children. It is recommended to generously dip the mustard in all the skewers. On the table, there are garlic, nanba, ichimi togarashi, salt, and toothpicks. The "garlic nanba" is a secret condiment at Akiyoshi that only a few employees know the recipe for. It has a perfect balance of garlic and spicy pepper. Mix it with the sauce and it's irresistible. Since there are many items on the menu, I will focus on personal recommendations. For drinks, I recommend Lemon Chu-hi. The dishes are mainly yakitori, so a refreshing drink is recommended. Jumkei (chicken) 5 pieces for 385 yen, Mino (beef) 5 pieces for 400 yen, Shinzou (pork) 5 pieces for 375 yen, Shishitou 2 pieces for 305 yen. Let's start with Jumkei, the King of Akiyoshi, or the King of Yakitori. If you come to Akiyoshi, you must eat this. You can order it in 5-piece units, but you should eat at least 10 pieces per person. By the way, one of Akiyoshi's features is the "warming stand" where Jumkei is placed. It has a stainless steel stand with a warming function, so it stays warm and enjoyable even after some time. When you dip it in mustard, take a big bite! Akiyoshi's Jumkei uses only carefully selected female parent chickens, so when you bite into it, the chicken umami overflows. Cooked carefully one by one by craftsmen over a flame of nearly 800 degrees, you can also smell the good scent of charcoal. It's truly a moment of bliss. Mino is also recommended. Akiyoshi's Mino uses only the upper part. First, enjoy a bite as it is, then enjoy the sweet miso flavor. The second bite is with the green plate sauce. The slightly sour negi-dare adds a different flavor to Mino. Shinzou is also delicious. It is processed well, so there is hardly any pork smell, and you can enjoy the unique texture of Shinzou. If you sandwich Shishitou between the yakitori, you will immediately crave more yakitori... creating an endless loop. Kushikatsu (beef) 5 pieces for 380 yen, Tulip (chicken) 390 yen, Onion fry 2 pieces for 255 yen, Potato fry 350 yen. Akiyoshi's fried food is as delicious as the grilled food. The highly recommended dish is Kushikatsu (beef). Dip it in the sauce on the pink plate. Again, the beef umami spreads in your mouth. It goes well with alcohol. The most ordered item is probably Tulip (chicken). The meat juice overflows.

Actually, the yakitori restaurant I often go to recently seems to be the go-to place for yakitori. You can also get takeout, but it's best to eat it fresh in the restaurant because it cools down. There are various menu items, but my favorite is white meat and skin. It's completely a personal preference haha. I often order skewers with just chicken breast meat. The garlic condiment they use is delicious and goes well with the chicken breast. You have to order a separate sauce besides the one they bring. I often go with a large group, so we end up eating until the skewer holder is full haha. I didn't take many photos, but it was a feast~

On a normal Wednesday at 5:10 PM, there were still no customers when I arrived, but I really wanted to eat here! It seems like they opened at 5:00 PM instead of the usual 5:30 PM due to the coronavirus situation. They have taken measures to prevent the spread of the virus, so it's easy to come here. I started with a draft beer and cucumber! Junmai and shiro are my favorites. I never get tired of them. Thank you for the meal.

The interior of the restaurant was extremely clean. At the counter, the green peppers and shishito peppers were incredibly delicious. Of course, the meat was also delicious. It may have been my first time eating the seeds inside a green pepper. I also tried putting umeboshi in shochu for the first time. It was delicious!

There are only two Akikichi restaurants in Kyoto, which is surprisingly few. They are located in Kawaramachi (Rokkaku Kiyamachi) and Nishiiin. The basic set for yakitori and kushikatsu is a set of 5. The teamwork between the manager, second-in-command, and female staff is very pleasant! They have clearly defined roles and work quickly. Similar to a certain kushikatsu restaurant, they have a strong focus on social education. Fast, cheap, delicious, and pleasant. I think Akikichi is wonderful.

On a regular Friday after 5:00 PM, there were no customers in the restaurant yet. I didn't know it had moved, so I panicked a bit. It was just across the street! As usual, I ordered cucumber, seaweed, and white fish, and as always, it was delicious! I always end up eating too much. Thank you for the meal.

I visited this restaurant that my friend often goes to, and I was intrigued. The interior of the restaurant was very clean and had a completely different atmosphere from a typical yakitori place. The menu was not extensive, but there were some unique items, and everything we ordered was delicious. However, getting only 5 skewers per serving seemed a bit much, even though each skewer had a small portion. It might be better suited for two people.

Hmm. I apologize for my first comment after the move being like this. However, as someone who eats out at least 15 times a week, I would like to share my honest thoughts. I heard rumors that Akiyoshi-san's restaurants are everywhere and delicious, so I decided to visit. When I arrived, the place was almost full, including tables, even though it was before 7 pm. The bustling atmosphere raised my expectations, so I ordered an oolong tea instead of alcohol. That was fine. It's just the way the restaurant operates, probably targeting families and children, but the fact that you can only order 5 skewers at a time was a bit tough for us who wanted to try a variety of things (we were two people sitting at the counter this time). I asked the staff if they could make a platter of assorted skewers, but it was not possible. I assumed it was a set rule, so I gave up and ordered individual items. The food we had is as shown in the photos. However, personally (this is completely subjective), I was a bit concerned about hygiene because the skewers were lined up on the counter without plates. Although the new store is clean, some things just bother me, so I couldn't help it. The taste was not something to praise. The rolled omelet was hard from being refrigerated. The yakitori was grilled on charcoal by what seemed to be the manager. There was a world of difference compared to the fluffy dashimaki from Tanagokoro in Gojo that I reviewed before. I know I shouldn't compare, but I can't help it. If I were to go out to eat, yakitori is my favorite, and having visited over 100 places in Fukuoka, Osaka, and Kyoto, I would not revisit this place. This may be a harsh review, but please understand. Also, whether it's because they just opened or not, there were 3-4 staff members who were just chatting and not doing anything. If you're going here, you might as well have fun at the nearby dagashi bar. It's more enjoyable and lively.

I tried to go to a restaurant with a shochu highball tap on the table to visit a grave through GoTo Travel, but it was full so I gave up. It was in the evening. Akiyoshi has consistently good taste.
