I went to Tsumugi in Gion Shijo, Kyoto! I didn't go for a course meal, but ordered individual items. I had the following: Sendai beef Chateaubriand, Sendai beef tongue sashimi, assorted rare cuts, tail soup, Sendai beef tongue with salt, premium seared sirloin yukhoe, potato salad with Wagyu beef, bibimbap, Wagyu beef tongue sushi, Wagyu beef sushi of the day, egg soup, rice, and dessert (pine sherbet). The Sendai beef Chateaubriand was amazing - tender, fine-grained, and flavorful. The assorted rare cuts (rump, rib roast, flank) had a good amount of marbling, giving them a delicious taste. The salted tongue had a unique texture and rich flavor. The tongue sashimi was also excellent. Other dishes like the seared sirloin yukhoe, potato salad, and tail soup were delicious too. The potato salad with Wagyu beef was particularly tasty. The side dishes and drinks were also great. The restaurant has a Western-style interior with a marble counter and luxurious private table seats, making it suitable for special occasions or anniversaries.

I visited a fantastic and luxurious restaurant in Gion, Kyoto. This restaurant just opened in May in Gion, and it exudes a sense of exclusivity. The interior is very luxurious, creating a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy charcoal-grilled yakiniku. I tried the "紡 course" for ¥13,200 (tax included, service charge 5% not included). The meal started with an amuse-bouche of Kyoto's Hisazaiya tofu and Kyoto-produced Yamada Seiyu extra virgin sesame oil with homemade red wine salt. The tofu had a delicate flavor with a hint of the extra virgin sesame oil, and the red wine salt complemented it perfectly. The appetizers included top-grade domestic ostrich fillet seared, black wagyu yukhoe, and homemade kimchi. The ostrich meat had no odor and tasted similar to lean fish. The yukhoe was beautifully presented and deliciously rich. The kimchi made with nagaimo was outstanding, with a crunchy texture and just the right amount of spice. Other dishes included black wagyu salt-grilled, black wagyu negi shio-tan, and selected hormone. The tan and hormone were tender and full of flavor. Grilled Kyoto vegetables paired perfectly with the meat. The meal ended with a serving of Katsuobushi and specialty egg over rice (Yatsudai Yaeemon) or Morioka cold noodles. The dessert was a rich and delicious pudding, and a refreshing lemon sorbet. The restaurant also offers a selection of red and white wines. The ambiance was stunning, especially after a passing shower in the evening. The marble counter and private rooms provide options for different occasions. This is a perfect place for celebrations, date nights, or gatherings with friends. I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant in the Gion area.

New Store Alert [Charcoal Grill Yakiniku Gion Tsumugi] Kyoto on Tabelog - @giontsumugi7 Located near Gion Shijo Station in Kyoto, "Charcoal Grill Yakiniku Gion Tsumugi" opened in May. This place offers a luxurious setting where you can enjoy high-quality charcoal-grilled meat. We tried the Tsumugi ~TSUMIGI~ course for 13,200 yen (excluding tax), which includes: - Amuse-bouche - Seared ostrich fillet - Wagyu beef tartare - Kyoto vegetable namul and homemade kimchi - Kitakari potato salad - Wagyu beef salt-grilled - Grilled Kyoto vegetables - Wagyu beef charcoal-grilled with sauce - Specialty egg over rice or Morioka cold noodles - Homemade seasonal dessert - Seasonal ice cream We started with amuse-bouche of Kyoto tofu served with extra virgin sesame oil and homemade red wine salt. The appetizer was a fillet of ostrich from Tochigi prefecture. Despite any initial concerns about a gamey taste, this ostrich meat was incredibly fresh and had a smooth texture. For the main course, we had salt-grilled Wagyu beef tongue and heart, as well as charcoal-grilled Wagyu beef ribs, skirt steak, and intestines. The restaurant doesn't focus on specific beef brands or regions but instead sources the best meat available each day, including Omi beef, Kobe beef, and Saga beef. For the finale, we chose one of each: Morioka cold noodles and egg over rice. The egg over rice featured premium rice from Yatsushiro Gibe, plenty of bonito flakes, and a luxurious egg from Kyoto. The meal ended with a satisfying dessert of vanilla ice cream and lemon sorbet. The drink selection is extensive, with wine pairings highly recommended. The restaurant is located in the charming Gion district, just a 3-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station, and offers a luxurious Western-style ambiance that contrasts with Kyoto's traditional streets. The marble counter, elegant private rooms, and even a VIP room hidden behind mirrored walls create a sophisticated atmosphere. In addition to set courses, a la carte options are available, and the long-awaited lunch service has also begun. This restaurant is sure to impress for dates or business entertaining. Don't forget to save this post if you want to visit! Location: 1F-2F, 69 Motoyoshicho, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture Opening Hours: 12:00-15:00, 18:00-23:00 Access: 3-minute walk from Gion Shijo Station, 7-minute walk from Kawaramachi Station Payment: Credit cards accepted Thank you for reading this post to the end. I had some delicious kalbi after a long time. It had a reputation for being oily, but the kalbi I had this time was from Kobe beef. There are no photos, but the liver and seared yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) had no unpleasant smell. Yukhoe is usually seasoned heavily, but the one at this place was just right, allowing the flavor of the meat to shine through. The service was polite, and the draft beer was tasty without any off-putting smell. I would love to visit again.
