"I couldn't help but wonder, who on earth came up with this??" That was my reaction when I tried the wasabi-infused iced coffee I received at this place. 'Uejima Coffee Shop' has been known for their unconventional coffee creations in recent years, such as adding ingredients like persimmon or tomato, which never fail to surprise me. However, when I visited their shop in July 2023, I was truly shocked by the drink I ordered, which was their latest offering since the end of May - the 'Wasabi Milk Coffee'. This unique coffee features Izu wasabi from Amagi mixed with their classic milk coffee made with Nel Drip coffee. Although I initially thought, 'There's no way wasabi's sharp flavor could go well with coffee!!', the milk and the topping of vanilla ice cream seemed to balance it out perfectly, and I found it surprisingly enjoyable. I later learned that some patisseries, like 'Pierre Herme', have used wasabi as an accent in desserts like macarons, so I realized that with the right balance of sweetness, it could work. The Wasabi Coffee will be available until early August, and while it may not be to everyone's taste, those looking for a unique and stimulating flavor experience might want to give it a try."

I went there on my way back from shopping. The coffee is freshly brewed and delicious. The Nel drip coffee has depth and is truly delicious. The price is not cheap, but you can savor the aroma and richness slowly. I also added an apple pie.

Café located on Higashitoin-dori Kinkakuji-mae serving milk coffee, with a specialty in White Chocolate Milk Coffee. I was intrigued by their limited-time Winter White Chocolate Milk Coffee made with Hokkaido cream and Belgian white chocolate. It was a DIY style where you mix the cream and chocolate on a spoon into the coffee, which was a bit different from the usual. While it was fun to mix and taste the changing flavors, it didn't give a strong sense of uniqueness as I expected. The cocoa I tried separately was actually more delicious!

The Starbucks in Karasuma was full, so I came here instead. I was surprised that the prices are higher than Starbucks. The limited-time orange juice was 880 yen. I ordered a caramel milk coffee. The atmosphere is calm and quiet, so it seems like a good place to study.

Today I am in Kyoto♪ I am so excited♪ I went to a cafe near my appointment location after 10 o'clock, and tried their morning set. The interior of the cafe had a calming color scheme which was nice♪ The morning set cost 550 yen and included a blend coffee and thick buttered toast. The coffee was delicious even when it cooled down. The bread was soft and the butter was generous. This is just the right amount for breakfast. Now, I hope I can present well. Exiting from Karasuma Station, walk east along Shijo Street and then north on Higashinotoin Street for about 3 minutes. The restaurant is located on the east side. Previously, there was a spacious second-floor area with window seats where you could relax with coffee and cigarettes, but it has now been changed to smoking and non-smoking sections due to the changing times.

I visited the popular coffee shop, Ueshima Coffee, located on Higashidojindori Kinkuji-ru. I was planning to try their Coconut Milk Coffee, but unfortunately, it had been changed to a limited-time offer of Milk Coffee with Chocolate the day before. I was a bit disappointed, but I decided to try the iced version of the Milk Coffee with Chocolate, and it was delicious! Since I was already there, I also tried the hot version, which had an even stronger chocolate flavor and aroma, making it even more delicious!

Good evening ♡ I won a drink ticket in a raffle where I could choose from three options: Ueshima Coffee, Saint Marc, or Starbucks. I chose Ueshima Coffee, which I don't usually go to. Although I often pass by it, I may have never actually been inside before. I have been to the one in Kawaramachi before, and it seemed more crowded there...? Right now, the seating is spaced out and quite spacious. I ordered a decaf black sugar café au lait. As I was drinking it, I realized that even after some time, it remained cold! I was impressed by the cup and felt like I wanted one for myself. The taste was nice with the gentle sweetness of black sugar. I didn't know they had such a wide variety of decaf options here.

During a break from work, I went to have a coffee. I chose a decaf milk coffee in ice. The staff was quite friendly, and the place was well-prepared for COVID-19 measures with spacious seating. It seems like there are power outlets and Wi-Fi, but the power outlet seats might be on the second floor. The Wi-Fi on the first floor seemed weak, making electronic payments difficult. The internet connection was slow even at the table. The coffee was delicious but a bit pricey.

I arrived earlier than planned so I took a stroll around Karasuma. It was crowded because it was midday, and the narrow roads made it a battle between cars and pedestrians (laughs). I wanted to escape from that chaos, so I went into Kamishima Coffee. The coolness inside was a relief from the strong sunlight. I ordered an iced coffee this time. I chose a mellow flavor because I don't drink coffee often. The coffee cup at the coffee shop was stylish. It wouldn't feel the same drinking from a similar copper cup at home (laughs). Coffee always tastes better when you drink it at the shop (laughs). However, this iced coffee wasn't to my liking, so it was a bit of a disappointment. Next time, I'll choose one with a stronger bitterness! Thank you for the meal.

I was tired from walking and wanted something to drink, but couldn't decide on anything. I passed on standing bars because I was too tired from walking. As I passed by here, I saw a delicious-looking sherbet-like drink and decided to go in. The interior of the shop is long, but the seats in front of the order counter are spacious one-person tables where you can relax. I ordered the drink called "Nagano Purple," which is a cross between Kyoho and Rosario grapes, resulting in large, dark grapes with a rich grape flavor. It's like a sherbet made from squeezing the grapes tightly. As a big fan of grapes, I'm so happy with this. The sherbet-like texture is refreshing and the fact that it doesn't contain any cream or unnecessary ingredients is great. It would be even better if the straw came with a spoon at the end, so you can enjoy it until the last bite.

Located in the Daimaru side where various restaurants are lined up, Nishinomiya-originated UCC-affiliated coffee shop, Ueshima Coffee Shop. In Kyoto, they have three branches in Teramachi, Kawaramachi, and here at Shijo Higashinotoin. While the Teramachi branch overlooking a garden tends to attract attention, the Kawaramachi and this branch also offer a luxurious space. The shop is a two-story building with seating on both the first and second floors, with a capacity of nearly a hundred seats. The high-quality space created by jazz and coffee is complemented by warm-toned furnishings, amber-colored indirect lighting, Karimoku sofas, and luxurious use of real Japanese design elements. The seating layout is designed to provide a personal space, creating a high-end yet casual lounge space for adults. There are bright window seats, as well as semi-private sections for a more intimate experience, catering to various needs. With free Wi-Fi and outlets at every seat, it's the ultimate place to relax and unwind.

Lemonade for 630 yen. Starbucks and Tully's are good too, but I also like the calm atmosphere. However, the hot lemonade was too sweet (laughs).

As a smoker, I am tired of this strong anti-smoking atmosphere in the world. I feel like I am being pushed into a corner more and more each day. I don't expect smoking to be allowed everywhere, but I wish at least there could be designated smoking areas... It would be nice to have a place where you can enjoy a cigarette with your coffee after a meal... I switched to electronic cigarettes two years ago, giving up paper cigarettes. All my regular places are now smoke-free. Finally, I found an oasis where I can use my electronic cigarette. Just for that, it's already a 4-star rating. Most of Uejima-san's establishments are okay with electronic cigarettes. I will definitely keep coming here, so I hope they can continue this system. The coffee is delicious as usual. The staff's service is great, and there are no negatives at all.

I often use this place for breakfast because it opens early in the morning. This time, I had a sweet cake and coffee for a little break at night. It's nice to be able to enjoy a leisurely coffee at this price.

The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. It's in front of DAIMARU so it's a good place to wait for time to pass. (laughs)
