Head to "Kyoto Udon Gonta" in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City. From the nearest subway Tozai Line Keage Station Exit 1, walk through the Nejirimanpoya Nanzenji grounds and walk a little over 1 kilometer (Exit 2 is a much longer route). The restaurant is located on the 1st floor of an old apartment building, with a tight space including a counter with 3 seats and two 4-person tables, but the interior is very clean. Normally, I often eat cold udon at udon restaurants, but it seems that the cold dishes are limited to the period from May to October based on the menu. So, I ordered the "Beef Curry Udon" for 980 yen, and they provided me with a paper apron. The curry sauce, full of thickness, has a fairly strong spiciness, but the umami of the broth pleasantly permeates the body. The udon noodles are about 6mm wide. For someone used to eating Sanuki udon, these noodles feel quite thin, elegant, and feminine like hiyamugi noodles. Traditional Kyoto udon seems to be mainly of this type. The ingredients are simple with beef, onions, and green onions, but the beef provides enjoyment of umami with each bite. On the table, there are condiments like Ichimi, Shichimi, and Sansho from Ichikudo, and the Sansho goes well with this curry udon. Thank you for the meal (^^)

Reasonably priced udon restaurant. I had some udon. The noodles were thin but chewy. A simple udon with green onions, tempura flakes, and fish cakes. The broth had a bonito flavor, and it was very gentle with finely chopped fried tofu and egg mixed in.
